I went in yesterday for diner with my sister, the food was okay but the rice was cold. The service is not bad, they're attentive. Like many have said 20% tip is included in the bill but staff expects more tip which I find outrageous since it is already included in the bill.

I went to this place to have a nice time for my wife's anniversary but in this place they seat you wherever you want when there are many tables available the waiter does not give you the option to sit wherever you want the tables in this place are very small, the service is bad and the excess charge for tips to eat in a place this unpleasant I would prefer a thousand times to eat in another restaurant than to eat in this place again and it is not only in this place but also in othersI can only ask the owner to let people sit wherever they want so that people feel at home, not like in a cheap restaurant.

Very bad service They already thought I had an order and they sent me the wrong food, I called and the Colombian, the man who serves there, treated me very badly and they gave me very bad service, so that's not the point. I'm paying for the combo that I ordered, it was money and I didn't care. They give it away so they can treat me badly and send me whatever they want.

Little space, best service, but chicken and causa were not the best. They need to add a good dressing to the salad too. An the lava cake really bad.

I ordered takeout and it was ready when I got there. You have to pay cash for deliveries, I was told so I went to pickup my order. The food was plentiful and good.

I found this gem accidentally and I was grateful for finding it. I eat Spanish cuisine on an almost daily basis but I never had Peruvian cuisine. The menu had some familiar dishes, so I was conservative in my order. I ordered arroz con mariscos y tostones (rice with seafood and fried green plantains).When I entered, the restaurant was small but cozy. The waitress attended to me right away. I was given something to snack on while waiting for my order. It was some type of corn that had the texture of nuts and a greenish sauce with a small spoon. The corn was interesting (crunchy and had the taste of crackers). The sauce was absolutely amazing. It was spicy but not too spicy. I could taste the complexity of the combined ingredients. I asked the waitress about the ingredients in order to check out if I was correct in my guess but she didn’t know.I'm that one who puts hot sauce on everything so this was up my alley. The food was delicious on its own but when I added that magical sauce, it tasted like next level delicious. Subtle flavors with a little kick ?.The prices were as expected (expensive) considering it was a seafood dish. The portion was generous. The rice was short grained and red in color. The rice had two large mussels placed artistically. There were large shrimps, a half of a soft shelled crab that was a bit small. There was a fair amount of calamari (squid). It was firm but not rubbery. I added a little salt to my tostones but otherwise the food was flavorful. Like I said, the portion was generous so I couldn’t eat it all. I took the rest home and asked for two of that magical sauce to go lol.I took one star off because it was too small. They made the space work but one of tables (where I sat) was really close to the hostess’s area. I would suggest that each table should have their own sanitizer instead of passing one around. All in all, Don Alex is a nice restaurant. I think that it’s my new go to place when I’m in the area.

I’m not sure if they serve this amount of food when you dine in, but this is absurd! I paid $22 for a side of ceviche? If you come here don’t order the ceviche. Or make sure you check your orderbeforehand.

Parking: We have been lucky and have found parking when we go there. The area in general is not too easy specially at certain times.

This is a cozy Peruvian restaurant with a couple of locations in Queens. It is not really for groups, as it is cramped inside and the tables and chairs are packed together making it feel even more cramped.We had several entrees:1) Jalea - A deep fried seafood platter with fish, shrimp, calamari and fried yucca. Even their small size platter was absolutely massive and was too much food for two people. We could not finish it. This is a very rich dish and is great for seafood lovers.2) Tallarin Verde - I have had better tasting versions of this Peruvian green spaghetti. It tasted slightly bland and it felt like they went too light on the cheese, spinach and basil. However, it was a generous size.3) Pollo Empanizado - This piece of breaded fried chicken was excellent. It was super flat and the breading was perfectly crispy. And like everything else we had, the piece of chicken was huge.Don Alex is a great option for a Peruvian restaurant. I have been to other ones that did have slightly better tasting food, but this place makes up for it with huge portions.
