I can’t think of any ways my experience could have been better! I am new to the area and to owning a Volvo. Cory and Randall were welcoming, helpful, and quick to take me in. They added little, missing pieces without charging me and walked me through the engine and underpart of the car—And it was the key that was broken! They surely went above and beyond. They also finished the work on my car $100 below estimations; I cannot recommend enough!

Randy and his son Corey are first class. They took care of me no questions asked and went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of, can’t thank them enough. They are knowledgeable, honest and forthright I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to have work done or buying a used vehicle.

I really should have written this review a while ago. When I felt like I was getting taken advantage of by a previous mechanic, I was referred to Randy's shop. I was facing a big bill and was incredibly stressed, but Randy gave it to me straight. After looking over my car, he explained that half the work I was told I needed wasn’t necessary. He broke down what actually needed to be done, why it mattered, and how we would get there, which not only saved me money but also helped me start learning how to better care for my car.
What stood out to me most is that Randy and Cory never pressured me into unnecessary work. They were sympathetic to my tighter budget, patient, and still made sure the work got done. Randy is also incredibly persistent; when he was determined to figure out a problem, he even covered the cost of a rental so I wouldn’t be stranded while he fixed the issue. That level of care and commitment is rare.
On another occasion, I came home from a weekend away at a funeral only to find the battery in my car dead. Once again, Randy and Cory were a pleasure to work with, gave me the tow truck number and 20 minutes later my car was headed to them. They made sure my car got the help it needed fast without me having to worry.
Randy and Cory are a breath of fresh air in this industry. While I don’t hope for too many car problems, I know that whenever they come up, I’ll be in excellent hands at Randall Automotive.

My son recently moved to the Rensselaer area from Long Island. He used our Volvo to bring some belongings up to his place. While he was there the ABS icon lit up on the dash. I had no idea where he could take it to but found Randall Automotive just over a mile from his place. Called them, and they said have him bring it in, and we'll have a look. They did a thorough inspection and found the issue. During the inspection they also found that the serpentine belt needed to be replaced. Randy completely explained all the work he recommended and why it was needed. He assured us that, although they were very busy, they would have the car back to my son when he needed it to return to Long Island. During the process he kept us updated on the progress. In the end he delivered the car on time as promised, and even resolved another issue that arose without adding to the bill. This is a business that thrives on quality work, honesty and trustworthiness. They'd rather earn a lifelong customer than get the most money out of a one time job. We feel very fortunate to find a good, honest automotive repair shop, especially within walking distance of my son's apartment. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Randall Automotive to anybody looking for a great auto service experience.

My son found his way to Randall automotive rather by chance after being involved in a minor accident, and for that I am so thankful. Randy was fantastic to deal with right from the start and helped guide us through the process of replacing the car that was damaged beyond repair. It felt like we had someone on the inside of the car business looking out for us. The service and communication Randy provided was first rate, and I am beyond grateful for the assistance he provided me and my family. A first rate business I would recommend to anyone.

Looking for a shop where both father and son are knowledgeable, trustworthy and interested in running their business in a way that fosters good customer relations? LOOK NO FURTHER. What a breath of fresh air! A strange thing to say about a shop that repairs internal combustion vehicles, but it really is true. Worth going a little out of your way to get such service.

After struggling to get a return call from the only capital district Volvo dealership time after time I was considering getting rid of the car I love so much. I took a chance and called Randall Automotive. He knew exactly what my car needed and was able to see me that same day. Service was efficient and spot on. Explained everything. So happy to have a trusted Volvo service provider in the capitol district.

Randy, Corey and the other employees were honest, timely, professional and knowledgeable. Additionally, they genuinely seemed to care about customer service; a rarity in the automotive field today.
Called this morning for advice on our recently purchased Volvo. They had me drive down this afternoon, test drove and verified my concern, checked over the vehicle, and quickly identified the problem. They pinpointed an issue in minutes which has eluded our dealer for days.
I would highly recommend Randall Automotive for a no nonsense, fixed right the first time approach to repairs; regardless of vehicle brand.

When my Volvo XC70 broke down, I was in a bind. I called 10 different places around Albany, but Randy was the one who called me back the next day and offered a free diagnosis. The engine was beyond repair, but Randy had a great solution: he offered to sell me a much better version of the same car. He even provided a rental car while the new one was being prepared, which was a lifesaver.
Randy’s care, attention to detail, and humor made a stressful situation so much better. He truly goes the extra mile for his customers, and I’ve already started recommending him to friends and family. If you’re looking for someone who’s not just about fixing cars but about taking care of people, Randy is your guy.

Fantastic reliability and excellent attention to detail and customer service. From the minute I walked in the door to when I went out with my keys, I was treated not just with kindness but also the utmost respect from a trustworthy mechanic with evident years of experience. Though I’m not a Volvo owner, my Honda Civic went in for a back bumper repair and left in better shape than it was before the repair was needed. The professionals at Randall work with you to make sure you’re happy with the way your car works, and I appreciate everything they do.

Highly recommend!!
My other car had finally saw its end of life and it was time for something newer. I purchased a 2008 XC70 from Randall. The car is in amazing condition for the year. The leather is pristine condition, the car truly drives like it is brand new. The car is beyond comfortable. Randall Automotive is a professional family owned and operated.They went through the car from top to bottom to ensure I would have no issues. His son Corey is an outstanding mechanic. Their automotive knowledge in general is outstanding, especially with Volvo's!
