I love this place ... not only do they sell birds and an array of bird accessories, but they allow you to interact with the birds in the shop. The birds are raised by the owners who are extremely informative and welcoming. This place is a must visit if you have a feathery friend.

It pains me to write this and this even took me a few days. The day I took my birds here was one of the worst days of my life. Our family won't be the same. I had two birds. My Green Cheek Conure and my Parakeet. I took them both here for a nail trim for the first time. Lisa did this. She grabbed both of my birds so hard, it was horrible. Both of them bleed and my parakeet got the worst. My Green Cheek Conure keeps raising her leg up, signifying it hurts now. After that, my parakeet barley moved. His name was Kesha. He didn't talk like he usually would. He didn't sing. Ever since we left that store he kept sleeping all the time. Two days after I took him here, he tragically passed away from his injuries because of Lisa. The way she grabbed my small baby, it was torture. She seems to have broke his neck/ part of his spine. She killed him. There's nothing that will bring him back. These few days have been horrible. Being without my Kesha is painful. The way he was killed was evil. All I can do is warn others not to go here. Lisa, Fuck You.

Great customer service! I'm a novice in this field and I really want a pet bird in the house. I went to Rensselaer Bird Center and I learned a lot. They answered all my questions and I ended up taking home a cockatiel

wondering if they take in birds - I have two budgies that I'm fostering. They belonged to my sister before she passed and I need to find a home for them:/

breeding and selling birds should be a crime. there are so many in rescues who need a home. adopt, never shop, and remember, most birds will outlive you and are VERY expensive, fragile "pets". if you think a regular vet bill is bad, try an avian exotics vet. stop supporting places like this so they have to stop selling birds from breeders and switch to running an accredited rescue or sanctuary.

Tucked away store location that feels like you’re lost. The first thing noticed on a summer day was people smoking outside. Glad they were outside. The store has a 1970s bird food and care style. Still breeding birds popular in rescues. Which indicates breeder bug for profit and maybe a lack of foresight. The long term ramifications for birds doesn’t take into consideration their life span, over population in rescues and the need for continued education and training for humans. The standard of care isn’t exceptional at the location. A few loose birds on small perch areas attached to walls. Daily cleaning of poop from surfaces is recommended when multiple birds and the public around. Changing out all perches, toys and especially rope items should be done every 6 months. Yes, throw them out and buy new.Questions to ask before buying a bird: date of last vet check with lab work, training during hand feeding, continued education of breeder, continued training and education for customers, age of bulk foods, sanitation schedule of location … to name a few.

Went to get a bird I had called about, drove here which was an hour and half away, to be told bird was not being adopted or sold they changed their mind? I think they are just bird hoarders that sell toys honestly didn’t seem interested in helping get a bird at all. Although there were several birds around I was told they were ALL boarders. Definitely shouldn’t qualify for a rescue.

Very knowledgeable and great customer service. Brought my daughter's Bugie in for wing/nail clipping. Staff was great, patient and made us feel very welcome and comfortable as new bird owners with tons of questions.Loved the open atmosphere of the birds flying around. Even taught my daughter how to catch one of the birds; she absolutely enjoyed herself. Felt no pressure or coerced to purchase anything.Big thanks to previous reviewers of this business. Your reviews helped me decide on this place versus others and you didn't disappoint. Will be returning for sure to get any future food and clippings done here even though we are about 5hrs away....YES they are THAT good!
