Was disappointed...After checking the price board & 1/2 price colors, I spent a 1/2 hour picking out some clothing items that I had money for...But when I went to pay, I saw the total going way over what I tallied in my head...After questioning why so high & pointing out the price board, the cashier dismissed the board saying it was 'old' & everything came out to nearly double what I anticipated...I believe they should update the board to be more honest with their pricing, it's only within arms length high to replace it...I feel like me, alot of people just pay their prices without wanting to be embarrassed.

Because they say it is a donation organization, if the price of the parts is very expensive, it is the same price as buying new ones.

One word to describe this Salvation Army other than gross is OvErPrIcEd. Went here a few times finally few weeks ago found some things, when I went to the register I didn't know how everything would be priced. If I bought everything I originally was hoping to get it would've probably cost me $50, I had to say no to most of the items I was hoping to buy which sucks. All the salvs I been to have all been overpriced.Goodwill > Salvation Army

It is 2023 and Riverhead is not a town of wealth except for tourists. The people here could really use a good thrift store but this Salvation Army is not it. The prices are much too high! The store has a strong odor, and is about 85% clothing. I was told Items you donate go to a central location and the store then gets items from this location. So you are not donating to your community. The items I looked at were missing parts and as such useless. There was no furniture! Please we need a thrift like those I witnessed in Florida just recently. You donate and it appears on the floor of the store. The store is clean and bright and very reasonably priced. They have many types of items and give items away or make adjustments in price to help those in need. The Salvation Army needs to make money while still serving it's patrons needs.

Does not help ... I want to donate clothes and furniture, but all the response I get are for areas not close, even though when I looked it up and it said there was a Salvation Army Giftshop in Riverhead, New York

I regret wasting time here, I was always curious about this place, had a little hope, but i dont think ill ever go back until other reviews state some kind if change. Horrid prices, I mean im poor & i cant even grab an item here without breaking my budget; this was suppose to be a store for the less fortunate & those who need the help getting by, & with every single item priced as if you walked into a normal store but instead of new, it better than new, its used and not on sale! Everything must've been owned by someone REAL special , SMH

I haven't been here in a while but they raised the prices so much that it's not really worth shopping here any more.

THey make donating a breeze. And if you have valuable undamaged furniture to donate, they'll pick up for free. I had been so worried about how to get some big ticket items out of my apartment. But they came and took care of everything.

I donate here all the time (don't bother getting a receipt). The other day, I decided to peruse the actual store. Found a fleece pullover and a long sleeve tee. There is a sign with all of the prices posted. But when you get up to the register, the checkout ladies look you over and make up prices! I was told that although the sign said one price, my used pullover (not a major designer) would be $19.99! And that long sleeve cotton tee would now be $8.99! Insane--and seems like a bait-and-switch scam. I feel bad if they do this to the people who shop here on a budget. If so, I can't in good faith donate here anymore. Does Riverhead have a Department of Commerce? Pretty sure this practice is illegal.

Are they crazy with their prices now? Things are donated to them and they have the nerve to charge $50 for a dress...along with a tag saying that it is worth $98... and also, used shoes for $30? I can buy brand new items at TJ MAXX for less than this!
