After reserving and prepaying for a "7-passenger Tahoe or similar" I arrived to get issued a 6-passenger Grand Cherokee in the next smaller class, forcing us to come up with additional transportation solutions throughout the busy holiday visit or have one family member volunteer to miss visiting relatives throughout our 5-day visit. No apologies and no refund on the price despite that I was clearly not getting what I had prepaid for. I wish Google offered an option to give a "-1 to -5" star rating for the tremendous inconvenience and added expense.

Review Title: Unjustified Double Charge for a Single Day's RentalRating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5 Stars)I recently rented a white Toyota Camry from Budget Car Rental for what was supposed to be a simple, one-day use, and I feel compelled to share my experience due to an unexpected and unjustified overcharge.Date of Rental: 11/12/2023We agreed upon a rate of $220 for a 24-hour rental, inclusive of unlimited tolls. This seemed like a fair deal, and I was initially pleased with the service. Our rental period began on 11/12/2023 and was scheduled to end on 11/13/2023, a full day later.Our return was on time as per the rental agreement, but due to the office being closed, we followed the established procedure by leaving the keys in the designated keybox. This was approximately one hour after office closure, still well within our agreed rental period.However, upon reviewing my bank statement, I was shocked to discover that I had been charged $450, effectively billing me for two days instead of one. This charge is inconsistent with our agreed terms and the actual duration of use.I have tried to resolve this issue directly with Budget Car Rental but have not yet received a satisfactory response. As a customer, I expected transparent and fair billing practices. This experience has unfortunately eroded my trust in Budget Car Rental.I am sharing this review in the hope that future customers are aware and that Budget addresses these billing discrepancies. I also seek a resolution to my situation, hoping Budget will rectify this overcharge and adhere to the agreed-upon rental terms.

Absolutely appalling customer service.I picked up a car - which was new, and clean - from Budget Rochester Airport. The pick up was smooth and the staff there were great.On the 3rd day of my trip - as a solo female traveler mind you - the car’s engine light turned on. I contacted Budget who told me to contact Roadside Assist - the number on the keyring.I called Roadside Assist who told me they couldn’t help me till the next day at after 9am. This would mean missing an event I paid thousands to attend and flew 30 hours to get to. She (lady on the phone) told me all they could do was get me an Uber to get me there - but they can’t replace the car until sometime the next day as “the rental place near you is closed” and the nearest one is 30 miles away. I had to take said rental car to a mechanic in the middle of New York State myself so that I could drive it. I then showed up at the rental car office she mentioned the next day - to be told they cant replace the car for me, as they have no cars and to drive to another location the next day as they will be closed by the time I get there! I had to go BACK to the mechanic a second time. I also asked if I was broken down on the side of the road what she would be able to do, she said get me an Uber because it can’t even be towed till the next day!What kind of rental place doesn’t maintain their vehicles? And what kind of useless Roadside Assistance is it that doesn’t send a mechanic out immediately? What would have happened if it broke down at 2am on a highway?Absolutely AWFUL experience. Will definitely never be using Budget or Avis again. Save yourself the nightmare I went through and book with literally anyone else. Literally even catch a Greyhound, it’s probably more reliable!

This was my first time renting with Budget and unfortunately, there were tremendous hidden fees that was not explained. I am sharing so the next person will be aware of fees such as Taxable Products/Services + Non-Taxable Products/Services. And returning the vehicle early, you charged for the time you reserved it. So in for renting a small vehicle for two days, I paid a $128 per day with all the fees. This was my first-time rental a vehicle with Budget and my last.The positive was the staff at the customer service desk and at the vehicle drop-off. Hence the two stars.

When we first got our car it had a change oil light flashing non stop & it shook.Things happen, but they made it right. - that’s what matters. When we called we got a new rental with ease. Easy drop off & great service.

The rental process was quick and easy. They ended up giving us a Jeep Grand Cherokee. It only had 970 miles on it. It fit my mobility scooter, wheelchair, cooler and our luggage. It was a comfortable ride. The rates were fantastic. Staff was very friendly. I will be doing business with Budget again very soon!!

The person who helped us at the desk when we were picking up the car was extremely rude. He was giving us no information when we asked questions and then proceeded to try to charge out credit card when we were using points. Then when we got to the car it barely had gas and we were told to return it with a full tank (which we still did).

Picked up car with cracked windshield. Car smelled of cigarette smoke that never went away. Used kleenex in backseat area. Inside windshield was Never cleaned. Got to rental house and had to clean off funk from every seat!!! Very poor situation…

The car had 60,000 miles, several dings and a scrape. I had to hunt down the staff to show them and not get charged. The staff wasn’t too eager to help.

The woman behind the counter was wonderful! She came in to work early, saw us sitting there and asked if we needed help - our flight had been canceled. We started up a conversation about working at the airport and she told us she has been working there for a very long time and loves her job - we could tell by her pleasant personality. The vehicle we rented was super clean and very easy to return when we arrived at the airport the next morning.

While making my reservation, I accidentally selected insurance for physical damage. The web page would not allow me to deselect the insurance.After the reservation was made, I logged on to try to modify the reservation. The site still wouldn't allow me to remove the insurance.At the counter when picking up the vehicle, the agent said he was unable to remove the insurance - that I had to call customer service.I called customer service, but that agent said she couldn't remove the insurance - that it had to be done at the counter at pick-up time.All sounds like an insurance scam to me.When I picked up the vehicle, it was not ready. It was stored on some remote lot, so the counter agent requested it be delivered to the airport. After waiting a long time, the agent called back to the remote lot, where the attendant said he "forgot" it was supposed to be driven over.When we got the vehicle home, we discovered it contained old, rotted food and gooey syrup in the back seat.The vehicle had exterior damage which was not disclosed to me at the time I picked up the vehicle. I called customer service to report it, and the agent said she'd make a note of it on my record.When I returned the vehicle, I showed the return agent, who checked her mobile computer, and said that the damage had already been on record. Would have saved me some worry had the pre-existing damage been revealed up-front.When I returned the vehicle, I told the return agent that there was vibration in the front end at highway speed. She just said OK - didn't seem to care nor to make note of it.

Horrible. Have been standing in the Preferred line for about an hour now and expecting another 30 minutes. Very poor customer service with no communication or attempt to speed things up.

Vehicle was old with 60k miles, dirty inside (food trash thru out) and outside on every corner it was beat up. It was also not full of fuel so I had to wait 20mins to get that corrected and it still only had 24 gals - returned with 27. The brakes were warped badly and shook horribly under use. I ordered a new GMC Yukon XL Denali and got a 3+yr old ford expedition without the same amount of room or luxury appointment. Also, the tags were 3mos expired … Never again.

Three different rental experiences were terrible. I cannot stress that the people and service was great, they swapped out the stinky cigarette smelling car. However this time around it was amazing ? great looking truck!Hopefully we can repeate the same experience on the next rental :)
