My issue is not with this branch but KeyBank in general. I have a checking account with them and I received an email that I was PRE-APPROVED for a loan and I could get the loan amount in as little as 48 hours.If you get one if those emails, it’s an outright lie. You aren’t pre-approved and after 2 weeks of multiple questions and giving them everything about my job and finances, I was denied. I would never have completed an application if I had known the “pre approval “ claim was baloney. I let them do a hard credit check which lowered my score for absolutely no freaking reason. This smacks of bait and switch and I’m reporting them.

They let someone close out my HSA account I've been using for over 4 years a month later still can't tell me who did it and where my money/new HSA is? Great times. Feels amazing. #golocal wish it did not have to come to this ... (Bet they call me tomorrow)

It was my first time walking into a key bank branch and honestly everyone working immediately looked like they wanted to help me . :) They were all friendly and I am so thankful for the advice William gave me on how to do a “cash advance.” I didn’t even know that’s what I was looking for until he told me. Their ATMs are frequently not functioning properly. Because of their inability to maintain them it can be risky to make cash deposits. I just made a large cash deposit and the ATM took my money without posting it to my account. For some reason when their machines malfunction it is the customers responsibility to file a dispute (which takes a substantial amount of time). Once this happens they will not give you your money for another 3-10 business days. I have bills to pay and some of them will increase because I chose to bank here. Some of the employees are pleasant and friendly but when this happened I didnt even get an apology for the inconvenience at the branch. It seems the company and some their employees really lack accountability and are not understanding about what customers have to deal with because of their mistakes.

I am in a feisty mood today and am generally feisty whenever I have to deal with this godforsaken bank in any capacity. PLEASE heed my cautionary tale and DO NOT originate your mortgage or use any of KeyBank's mortgage services, especially if you are a first time home owner. ESPECIALLY at this location with this staff. There's just too many life altering details that go into a mortgage that the team here is incapable of answering or providing details on. The ripple effects of their carelessness are sticking with me almost two and a half years after originating my mortgage. All of the red flags were there when I started this process. The broker was such a hot mess from the minute I met with him, with files of all of his clients coming out of this cartoonishly messy folder. The only reason this loan closed was because I was on the phone with underwriters and people I absolutely had no business dealing with, finding out details that my officer didn't care to take care of. All of my interactions with customer service at Key were horrid. I had an additional interaction today with the same attitude from this bank - hands in the air and the "not our problem" attitude I've been dealing with since day one. I have the super fun New Year's resolution of refinancing my mortgage through another institution, and hopefully alleviating the issues that Key created. If even one person sees this and decides to take their mortgage elsewhere, that will be a win. On a different note, I DID use this bank for notary services once, and that was fine. The issue isn't really with the branch, it is with mortgage staff that works out of this branch. Happy home ownership, all!
