Rip off!Went and saw the mirror exhibit on Easter Sunday. We paid $50 to go into a tiny room with mirrors and little orbs in it. We were given 1 minute to go into the room - actually, we were given an extra 30 seconds. A full one minute 30 seconds in the tiny room. There was virtually no one at the MAG. Unbelievably disappointing and a total rip off. That equates to $3,000 an hour to see this. Not worth it

If you like art and have a free afternoon, check out the Memorial Art Gallery. Their collection is stunning and the natural lighting and exhibitions are perfection.

A beautiful gallery of art which sports work shops resturant gift shop and sculptures along with mosaics outside. Lots to see and learn about! I visited when the Yayoi Kusama mirrored room let's survive forever was exhibited along with the Great woman artist display. Amazing! Be prepared to spend the day at the gallery so much to see and learn about. Senior discounts as well as certain days available for exhibits and work shops. Check out the website for info. Nice large parking lot at site and handicap friendly. Elevator for use as well as plenty of comfortable chairs to sit on while exploring the gallery.

A decent but limited art gallery which seems to work hard to engage the public. The special shows are usually fascinating and well researched. The Rembrandt show was decent but added little light to the work and artist. One minute in the mirror show was a bit ridiculous particularly when so few people were there.I love the upstairs art work but there is something about the feel of the space that is not comfortable so I rarely go there much to my detriment. I did not know that the incredibly brilliant video work, the Four Martyrs by Bill Viola, is housed out of the way upstairs. This is an amazing work I first saw decades ago in London. It took my breath away then as it should you if you venture upstairs and spend the seven min.MAG is a great resource for Rochester. I just wish the UR would invest more of its billion dollar+ endowment in it.

Fell in love with this place on a field trip in 6th grade, and I’ve been going ever since. I’m 25 now, and I have a deeper appreciation for the artworks presented here. I love how the museum presents its local hero’s in Rochester, along w the international super powers of the art world. You can find pieces by your favorite artists here. Definitely a staple in the Rochester NY community. Thank you MAG ?

Gorgeous venue for my husband’s company Christmas party. Spacious with plenty of parking in the heart of downtown Rochester. Catering team was able to accentuate the space with tasty menu options and choices. The decor entices me to visit again in the future.

Very nice museum in the north-west corner of NY state with an extensive collection of diverse arts on different mediums. The exhibit of local talents is quite good, telling stories of Rochester's glory past of its statues and people. Collection of the world art is more limited, comparing to other larger counterparts, but efficient and round out its offerings nicely. We did not part take in the temporary exhibits while we were there, but the permanent collection did occupy most of our time.Grand entrance, beautiful sculpture garden. A must visit in Rochester

this place was quite the experience! ?? okay, the whole place is beautiful and we were greeted with such kindness and accommodation. we wanted to sit outside because of our two huge huskies (dogs are greatly encouraged inside as well) and we are quickly escorted to the outside seating. they did mention and warn us several times that the bees are outside but they shouldn’t bother us. for some reason the bees wanted my simple breakfast dish (that was delicious after remade) and not the other dish we ordered. obviously by the video i let the bees win and let them have my breakfast dish (am terrified of bees lol) we were joking and laughing with the server pretty much everytime he came out and they made me another plate for free because of the bees. for some reason from what i was told the bees just seem to be rampant out there right now. this definitely doesn’t tarnish the great food and drinks they have. whenever im in town i definitely will come back to this place. it’s so pretty.

Beautiful courtyard and outdoor installations. I enjoyed the works by women artists as well as the works done by artists local to Rochester, New York or the area

I had forgotten what a wide range of art styles and periods our local gallery has! I am a native Rochesterian and had not been to the MAG in a while.I appreciated the many places to sit, pause, and reflect. There was a flow to the layout of the museum that I found very helpful. Also, it was nice to take my time, go at my own pace.As a person with autism, I was both surprised and delighted at the variety. It was also (usually) okay to take pics with my phone.Once inside, I put in my earbuds to reduce sensory overload and immerse myself in my music, and then stepped into the experience of the gallery. As they change certain parts of the exhibits, I hope to return soon and visit more frequently. This is definitely a Rochester treasure! One extra note:Iqt turns out that for the rest of summer, MAG allows all veterans (like me) in for free, with ID, along with up to 3 guests! That was a great kindness to vets!(Thanks, MAG!)

Memorial Art Gallery has attractive gardens and entertains an eclectic collection including local and reknown artists, and sculpture from around the world.. A very pleasant enriching place to spend an afternoon.
