We made the decision to bring my dad into RGH to get medical attention due to his ongoing symptoms the past few days and with today being the worst day for him. He has been exhibiting symptoms of extreme fatigue, dehydration, vomiting, unregulated body temperature, no appetite, and severe muscle/body aches and pains. All of this was explained to the staff upon check in and somehow his symptoms were only labeled as “migraine” and he was stuck in a dirty/unsanitary folding chair in the hallway, he needed to use the bathroom and an RN guided him to the bathroom and gave him a urine sample cup and said take this they’ll need a urine sample, he was also denied access to a blanket even though he was freezing because the reasoning “were getting you set up in a room shortly” only to be told by another staff member that did get him a blanket “the wait is over 3 hours for a room”. My fathers pain was so severe he was unable to fully sit in the chair and had to adjust himself and lay on the floor to be told by security that he needed to get up even though he was incapable at the time. An RN by the name of “Renata Y.” Made a comment “he just has a fever he can get up” which was completely distasteful and disregarding my fathers medical needs and issues. We have been here over 3 hours and if my father wasn’t in so much physical pain I would’ve gotten him up and taken him to a different hospital because to be honest I do not trust this staff with my fathers life and I am extremely worried with the lack of care that they have exhibited to him towards this time. After the disagreement with security he was then guided to a more comfortable reclining chair in another area and the doctor came in to order bloodwork, an X-ray, covid/flu swab and fluids but did not mention a urine sample like the RN previously did. At this moment we still don’t have an exact diagnosis and had to argue with his RN as well as the doctor to try and request his urine be tested as well since he has not had access to proper health care and considering he does have symptoms that can coincide with a UTI amongst other things that a urine sample may be able to show. The response we got from the RN was “well this is the ER we don’t do that here.” And she deemed his urine sample unnecessary because he didn’t say he had a burning sensation when he urinates. The doctor then came in to back up his RN and said “we can agree to disagree I don’t feel it’s necessary at this time” when I addressed and said he is dehydrated, can’t keep fluids down and has not been using the bathroom regularly how is that not similar symptoms to a possible UTI he disregarded my concerns for my fathers health and said he will wait for the current testing to come back first. If you do your research and look up things that a urine sample can show it is MUCH more than a UTI like those hospital staff are claiming and arguing. I could see the push back from the staff being justifiable if we were requesting medicine without any testing but the fact that we are requesting testing to make sure he is okay is completely unacceptable and shows the little to no regard for his health. We just relocated from Arizona and I have NEVER experienced anything remotely similar to this and I promise I will NEVER return to this hospital in my life. I pray that this hospital staff realizes how they are treating and disregarding peoples health concerns can cause someone their life and I will NOT let that happen to my father. I hope this message is not tossed to the side and it is read and taken as seriously as it should be so these people can learn humanity and bedside manner like they signed up to provide to our people.

Giving birth at RGH labor and delivery was a fantastic idea. The nurses and doctors were all extremely kind, helped me make informed decisions that didn't make me feel pressured at all, and spoke to me with genuine care. I was extremely scared to give birth, but I felt very comforted by the care I received during this process. I would 100% come here for future children.

ICU care was incredible and the unit was clean, staff was attentive, friendly and appropriately dressed/groomed.When moved to a medical floor, that all changed 180. Can't tell who's on staff. Communication with patient was minimal. Is there a dress code? Expected cleanly groomed? Personal cellphone and hallway/nurse station conversations seemed to take precedence over patient duty, making for lots of noise in the area. Work areas are cluttered and unclean. Cold-air return grills in the room are filled with heavy dust, which could easily be kept clean. When air is circulating through dirty dust, it only stands to reason that infections , i.e. staff, can be spread.Patient has been scheduled for an echocardiogram for 3 days, after which he could be discharged. Still waiting, even after checking at nurses station, where they say, " he's on the top of the list."

Sucks in every way. Terrible pain control left me in ripping, burning nerve pain with no effective help. I didn't encounter even a droplet of sympathy or empathy from anyone I encountered in my 3-week-plus stay here. The food is worse than vomit. There's nothing good to say about Rochester General Hospital or Rochester Regional Health at all. I hate this place, and after working with a doctor from Rochester regional health for more than 30 years, I plan to switch to UR. Anything has to be better than this.

When I took the parking garage elevator to the ground floor during business hours, the doors into the hospital were locked. No signage directing me to another entrance. Are you people purposely trying to annoy your visitors?

I was cutting metal on a Friday and got a sliver in my eye. I went to RGH at 2:00am Monday morning attempting to avoid busier times. When I first got there either an armed guard or police officer attempted to stop me from entering. When I got inside the lights were low and the waiting area completely empty. I had to wait at the front desk while the woman working the front desk finished her cigarette. Once my vitals were taken I was sat in the hall of an overflow area. After 3.5 hours of sitting there watching 7 nurses stand around complaining about how understaffed they are, I said “I think I’m just going to leave and make an appointment with an optometrist”, which they didn’t appreciate. Not 20 minutes later, despite still not being seen by a doctor, a guy with a wheelchair shows up to take me for a CT scan. I should mention this was a single sliver you can easily see with the naked eye. I’d now been there 5 hours when the apparent only doctor on duty showed up. The doctor seemed surprised how obvious and clearly visible the sliver was. I explained how I had it happen once before and knew they had a piece of equipment similar to what optometrists use. He knew exactly what I was talking about then said “yeah we don’t have that anymore”. He then pulled out a new needle like you would have for an IV to hand pluck this sliver from my eye. After 3 minutes of failed attempts the doctor starts suggesting I need to see an optometrist. I now have to convince this doctor he’s getting it and that he can do this. Maybe 3 minutes later he did get it out. I’m then sent back to wait in the hall for discharge. Another hour goes by and still no discharge! I had to discharge myself just to get outta there. I was there for 7 hours to receive 20 minutes or less of actual service. My eye and vision are fine and as good as they were before. Is RGH capable of providing your medical needs, absolutely! Would I suggest you go almost anywhere else and only use them as a last resort, absolutely!

I have been going to this hospital for years with my family. We have used the clinics that are affiliated with the hospital as well as the emergency rooms. However, we have encountered some instances of really poor service and unprofessional conduct. One of them was when a doctor made some very racist remarks to my mother. He said that he needed to check her blood for AIDS because she was from Africa. This was very hurtful and offensive to us. We reported the incident to the receptionist, who said she would escalate the matter. However, instead of reprimanding the doctor, the hospital sent an Arabic-speaking person to contact me and explain the situation, as if I did not understand what the doctor did. I am a well-educated person and a native English speaker, and I felt that this was an insult to my intelligence and dignity.Another incident was when I went to the emergency room for severe pain. They refused to let me bring a guest with me, even though I needed emotional support. The staff who admitted me were very rude and dismissive of my condition. They did not acknowledge me as a person in need of help. The doctor who saw me refused to do any blood work or give me any medication for the pain. He did not listen to my concerns or explain his diagnosis. I do not understand why someone would choose this profession if they have no empathy or compassion for their patients. It is scary to think that people like this are in charge of our care.I am writing this review to warn others about the quality of service and care at this hospital. I hope that the management will take action to improve the situation and hold the staff accountable for their actions. I also hope that they will train their staff to be more respectful and sensitive to the diverse backgrounds and needs of their patients. This hospital has a lot of potential, but it needs to change its culture and attitude.

The nurses were incredible. All the staff was awesome including transport to my CT scan. My doctor however, Kelly Hueitt had the worst bedside manner for a sick person I’ve ever experienced. I needed treatment and instead was treated like I didn’t belong there when in fact urgent care sent me there in the first place!!!! I left with no prescription, no actual help for my issues and now I have to go to Unity . Maybe there I’ll get the treatment I needed yesterday. I will NEVER come back there. Ps the ER is filthy.

The 5 stars go directly to 3 staff members only, who treated our family and my mom extremely well during her emergency room visit this week. Shieda Dunbar in Pct, who served moms breakfast and Holden (transport guide) who took my mom to get an ultrasound. Plus Lydia, who worked behind the window in the emergency room lobby. They treated mom with respect, dignity and were very well mannered. I was on the cell phone talking to my mom when both Shieda and Holden were with mom and heard every word. Thank you, Shieda, Holden and Lydia! Those were the pros and do not include the cons regarding moms most recent emergency room visit as well as a bad past experience. The cons will be in a later post. T :)

I would die bleeding in the street before I ever visit this place again. Discharged me with a 184/140 bp and massive migraine with light and noise sensitivity that had me puking, had to sleep in the hallways for 6 hours before being seen to NOT talk to a dr/pa/etc. admitting was verbally abusive. Never again.Edit: I forgot about the nurse who pushed my wheelchair into a wall then literally laughed when I screamed in pain. What is wrong with people? This isn’t the business for you if you’re this uncaring.

Diagnostic imagining team is absolutely awesome. Love the nurses there, love the nurses on the recovery team as well. Hospital was clean but a little cold for anyone who isn't warm blooded. Very smooth biopsy, appreciate the efforts to make me comfortable when I expressed disdain to being touched. Thank you again!

The hospital staff are amazing, treating patients with respect, and conducting treatments with expertise. Unfortunately the managers/ceos/board of directors is trying their best to ruin this hospital. When they refused to pay their nurses a fair wage citing that they would be "the highest paid nurses in the country" they were flat out lying. New Mexico (one of the poorest states in our country) pays their nurses more to start and overall. Also, the decisions from above are reckless in considering their own patients, us. During the last strike, I was told travel nurses ,brought in for 100+ dollars an hour, were unable to even care for some patients basic needs and without the staff working through the strike(the ones who had to or else their families would starve/miss bill payments), these patients may have gotten seriously injured and or died by the incompetence of the travel nurses who were hired and "vetted" by the same people who won't pay their staff fair wages. It is truly unfortunate that due to their incompetence I have to write this poor review of RGH. In conclusion, until they are able to pay their staff fairly, while they hire incompetent nurses at exorbitant wages, stay far away from this facility for your treatment needs.

Exceptionally friendly staff and very good with handling my panic attacks before a surgery. Excellent, excellent people in my experience. Thank you for everyone's service. I couldn't imagine dedicating my life to help/ save other people every day and working around the clock to do so, barely having down time and in some cases barely seeing your family. People aren't appreciative enough of medical staff.

The staff was rude and did not care... I just don't get it...why work in a hospital if u don't want to help people in need... People in pain... I had major surgery and u would think all i was there for was a common cold.... I was left in pain for 4 hrs and when they finally decided to help me... They were very rude about it.... Its really ashame because this hospital did use to have great staff and service.. Who ever is in charge needs too fix this before u have no patients too look after!
