I'm one one of those people that kept putting off his hair appointments since the start of Covid and still didn't get a haircut even once things reopened. Before I knew it, 13 months had passed and I was left with a mess of curly hair nearly to my shoulders, which I'd been hiding under a winter beanie. I finally relented and called Cristan as a new client, and I'm glad I did! Cristan is friendly, knowledgeable, skilled and didn't rush me through the process of discerning what I was looking for, or the process itself. To a large extent I trusted her to reshape my mop and I am glad I did! I'm very pleased with the result and I'll certainly be back. If you're comparing Symmetry to other curly-hair-specialty salons in the area, and wondering why the others have over-complicated their menus, established labrynthine booking systems and nearly double (even tripled, lol) their prices, Symmetry is the obvious choice! Cristan is an artist. Visit her shop (which is also in a convenient location with 3 hour parking right next store, so you also hit up the nearby cafe).Service: Hairstyling

I moved to Rochester 4 years ago & found myself in need of a local hair salon with the obvious hopes I would love their work. Well - I made my first appointment for a color correction in 2017 with Symmetry & Color Salon, & have been been a loyal client ever since! Cristan far exceeded my expectations, & continues to wow me! I am in awe of how much I actually love my hair since she started working with it! Bonus - she’s knowledgeable about what she does, but also kind, & one of the biggest hearted humans I know. She is a level above 5 Star ⭐️

This shouldn't be listed as a salon - it's a magic shop! I've had my new color for two weeks now and it's still so shiny, smooth and silky! My stylist, Tarin, worked around my schedule, and expertly guided me through the whole experience. I almost wish my hair wasn't still so beautiful, because I'm dying to go back for my next appointment. Love love love!

I guess this is my punishment for leaving my old stylist from a fancy, expensive salon. I promise, hair gods, I'll return to her now! I went here for the first time today and did not see Cristan. It sounds like others have had great experiences with her! I requested a bob and the stylist simply cut my hair two different lengths. She didn't turn me around with a mirror to see the back, as I have experienced with most haircuts, so I didn't notice it until I got home this evening. It's truly just long in the front and short in the back, with no gradient in between. She would just pick up a section of hair and go chop-chop-chop without thoughtful adjustments or reassessments after a few snips. I wish she had asked follow up questions or for me to show a picture since I was a new client. Since I've gone to the same phenomenal stylist for ten years, I didn't think of those things. I did not love the professionalism of the stylist either. Maybe it's normal, it's just not what I have come to know at the salons I've visited in the past.

Cristan is amaaazing! I always wanted red/auburn hair, but I was always nervous about getting my hair dyed (and just so indecisive in general). She is very talented and knowledgeable. She was able to assuage all my fears and encourage me to get the hair I always wanted. I always said, "When I go grey, I'll go red." But why wait? Now I'm enjoying the fiery new confidence that comes with having the beautiful red hair I've always wanted, that so many people think is natural anyways! It's always nerve-racking trying to decide on color but Cristan has the eye for it. I am always uneasy with taking risks with color but easily trust her to pick out something for me whether it's highlights or all over. Her salon is super cute and convenient. Very easy to go relax while she does wonders.
