Over a year and a half ago I purchased a Mexican Conure from owner Marc Marone. He told me he would be a good talker and charged me $2,000 for it. I thought I knew marc for many years from his TV shows to his awesome store. Last year Marc let me down. First he had to ship the bird to South Carolina, which was no problem he even sent me a photo of the bird sitting on his finger, however when I got the bird he would not sit on my finger. All he did was bite me and scream all day. To this day he still bites me if I touch his cage but comes out and sits on my shoulder. He screams all day and does not talk. All he can say is "HEY'. What happened to this great talker Marc told me about? I complained and told Marc I wanted to return him. He made so many excuses for Delta Airlines not being able to do this. Which I found to be a lie. All he did was refund me $1000, which was ok at the time with hopes as he got old to come around. Well again not so, just another waste of time. With that much of a refund, how much was he paying for this bird from hell. I used to live about 25 miles from his store and if I still had, I would return this feathered nightmare back to him Marc Marone took advantage of the distance between us and give me the worst bird in his store. If I was back at my old home, I would surely have taken him to court for misrepresentation and over charging. I just became a widower before I came south and thought the bird would be great company as I has several parrots in the past. My life has been a parrot hell because of Marc's bad business practice. If I get back to my old home, I will definitely take him to small claims court. This bird is not the one he sent.

I wish I had read the reviews of this establishment a year ago, but I was blindly fooled by what I saw on TV years ago... I purchased a hedgehog, a little overpriced, but OK I was willing to pay a little more because I believed she was from good breeding. I was trying to avoid any hedgie with wobbly hedgehog syndrome. I was told she was fed ferret food, by the owner, when I questioned that his response was that's what they eat... She looked healthy so I stupidly overlooked it. (Switched to a high quality hedgehog food, hedgehogs are insectivores, not carnivores) Took her home and after a few months she became sick. took her to the vet and it was revealed that she had a serious respiratory infection and a CAT scan revealed pneumonia. My baby was on antibiotics for 6 months. She started showing signs of WHS. The vet informed me that the last 3 hedgehogs they treated were from Parrots of the world. All three passed on. I spent thousands of dollars in vet bills. Over 20 times what I paid for her originally. And in the end, I still had to make the decision to end her suffering. She fought for months to live. 2 antibiotics, 2 other meds to try and help her digestive system which also had problems. Tube feeding her when she dropped weight and lost appetite. No, I never went back to the store to tell Marc. No, I don't want my money back. I'm writing this as a warning of my experience and from what my vet said... DO NOT EVER PURCHASE AN ANIMAL FROM PARROTS OF THE WORLD!! If I could give a zero star rating I would.

I got this budgie on Jan 15th. She lasted over a month with us, and she was so sick. On Jan 15th, I saw the store had cramped cages filled with terrified budgies, and the way how the budgie was handled. The store smelled really congested I've gone through many budgies in the past from other pet stores. I had one budgie that lived over 10 years old from a pet store without any problem. I never had a budgie that lasted less than a year. I will not come back here.

Got my cockatiel from there. Marc is so knowledgeable and willing to answer any question. He doesn't give the wanting to sell vibe, he genuinely cares for his animals. I trust him and his advice so much. My bird came to me loving and tamed.

I love this store, the birthplace of the light of my life, a baby African Grey. Marc guided us through taking care of him. Now he is talking like a true Long Islander and New Yorker, see video.

I purchased a Budgie from this pet shop and the bird died after 5 months. I bought the bird to the vet several times, the baby budgie had a stomach virus. This happens when birds are in dirty cages!!

Mark is great. We have a cockatiel that he trims his beak and clips his nails. The bird doesn’t even flinch. All the employees are pleasant. I drive in from Astoria for everything I need. Prices are very reasonable.

This is RUBY aka ELMO my awfully gorgeous green wing MACAW I love his deep red colors well back in 2020 Marc saved my life I suffered clinical depression I tend to use parrots as a way to help me COPE with my depression during the pandemic I was overwhelmed dealing with a custody battle I ended up purchasing This parrot and a girl and boy Molleken cockatoo named FANNY and DANTE as well till this day i still visit Marc I also bought a bunny from here he's a very knowledgeable guy when it comes to animals and great personality and Mindful and helpful I will always recommend anyone to come do business with Marc everything might be priced up but being in Long Island nothing is cheap other than that he has a wide range of variety of animals the store is known for having RARE species that are frankly difficult to find all over the New York State and Marc not only is known for decades when it comes to selling pets but you'll never find such great options unlike other pet stores.

I've purchased four birds from Marc over the years. All have been healthy and when they ultimately died years later, their illnesses had nothing to do with Marc. I'm not sure what the negative reviews of this place are about but I do know if I were Marc, I'd look into suing some of those who post this nonsense in this public forum. Then again, look at the Yelp reviews The Bronx Zoo. (Yep! The BRONX ZOO!) They aren't much better than Marc's so I guess some people just don't get it. Marc is super knowledgeable, free with information and a nice guy if you ask me. In fact, a Timneh Grey I bought from him more than 15 years ago moved with us from Long Island to the Valley of Arizona and a year and a half after we got settled here, he died of arteriosclerosis. We brought him to an avian vet expert here and we were advised that this has become common among Greys and it surely had nothing do with his breeding. We fed him only the best. It was just bad luck, for him and for us. Anyway, could we get another Grey from a breeder here? Sure, but I'm giving serious consideration to calling Marc and asking how he'd feel about shipping me one. We'll never replace Morgan but we might want to add a new, Grey member to the family. How are you Marc? We hope you are doing well.

We have been customers for over 20 years. Marc is the MOST knowledgable and helpful person! We have gotten birds, lizards and hamsters and countless products from the store. Every experience has been great. And the staff is so helpful when you call with questions of any kind. This store is a true gem!!!

I have been a visitor and a customer of Parrots of the World for 40 years. Yesterday, I bought my 4th bird from Marc and would never consider buying from anyone else. Marc is one of the most knowledgeable, helpful, caring and honest people in the industry. Not only did he spend an incredible amount of time answering all of my questions about transitioning my new bird to living with an older bird, he kept the birds with him for the day to watch their interaction to make sure it was an appropriate pairing. Two years ago, Marc went above and beyond when my Green Cheek Conure was gravely ill, keeping his store open late so I could borrow a heat lamp and reaching out regularly, on his own accord, to both myself and my avian vet about the bird's condition and prognosis. I have learned so much from speaking with Marc over the years and from listening to him interact with his other customers. You will not find his depth of knowledge and love of animals any place else. Parrots of the World is an amazing store and Marc Marrone is a wonderful human being!
