We booked the 1850 House for our wedding weekend and our guests all enjoyed their stay. Unfortunately, the positive review ends there. Our contract states we would be refunded the deposit within 3-5 business days, however it took 40 days and many unanswered emails and phone calls. The innkeeper Joseph totally ghosted us via email and phone. This was the last thing we wanted to do post-wedding. Very disappointing and unprofessional service.

What a great find! This place is gorgeous and truly special. A tiny bit spooky which adds to the magic of it. The owner Mike was lovely, as was the receptionist Michael. We stayed in the suite (2 bedrooms) and the beds were very soft and comfortable. A/C was nice and cold. We had plenty of room. The sitting room where they serve a light, delicious breakfast (muffins, bananas, clementines, and coffee/tea all day) was very pretty and cozy — I'd love to sit there all day and read a book. The back outdoor seating area is beautiful too. Plus, location was perfect. We could walk just 1-2 minutes to some local restaurants, cafes and bakeries. My recommendation is to book through them directly via their website/calling--sometimes booking sites charge local places like this a fee. We will be back! Thank you Mike & Michael the spectacular stay and wonderful local recommendations.

Historic and comfortable place with plenty of charm! Loved the simple but well done decor. Kyle was so welcoming and helpful. The town was small but very cute. We had an amazing breakfast down the street. Loved our time at the 1850 house.

The 1850 House was a magical experience! We had our rehearsal dinner and stayed in the house with our wedding party. Joseph and Kyle were so accommodating and kind. They went above and beyond our expectations to make our time there perfect.

We stayed here recently ( 2 nights) to attend a wedding close by. Kyle is a great host. Checkin was seamless, our room immaculate and spacious, the grab-n-go breakfast was perfect for us. Good parking, situated on a river and quiet location. Highly recommended.

We were visiting friends about 1 mile away so this was a perfect place to stay. Our room had good A/C and wi-fi. There was a reasonable desk and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was modern and up to date. Most of the rooms are on the second floor so be prepared to lug your bags up a long flight of creaky steps. Grab and go breakfast was very good and included a variety of fruit (banannas, apples and oranges), yogurt, Keurig coffee and several varieties of large muffins. No hot food bt this was a very good substitute. Lots of comfortable common areas for your use. Big patio out back. At one time they had a restaurant but that is no longer functioning. Perhaps as we recover from the pandemic, it will come back. No daily housekeeping, similar to most hotels these days.

The hotel was nicely updated yet maintains the feel of the Old Hotel overall. Kyle was an excellent host and guided us on things to do nearby. The outdoor deck as well as the lounge were fantastic places to hang out. We walked to restaurants and the theater nearby. Good off the beaten track location to visit nearby vineyards, breweries, and historic sites.

Not worth the money . Inn is ok but they have squeaky floors and stairs and thin walls. The Inn is in a very small town with little to do and see and a lot of businesses in the small town are cash only. Rooms are ok but not worth the price. Restaurant was closed on the last long labor day weekend, which was odd and disappointing. This impacted our breakfast options and price should have been reduced considering the restaurant was closed and we had to source out eating options. The restaurant is now closed for the season until the spring. Very inconvenient. There needs to be a kitchen open on the premises for at least a hot breakfast for the price you pay for the rooms. The most disappointing part was their lack of compassion to a unexpected medical family emergency that occured during my stay and their refusal to refund even half of the one night we could not stay. We left at 1pm with ample time to rebook the room since check in isn't until 3 pm. I was totally taken aback by their reaction and lack of compassion to my situation. I wasn't asking for the full night stay amount back and offered to accept even less so I wouldn't be out completely, but was told they are a small business and would not refund even a partial amount. Mohonk mountain gave me a full refund on the same day due to our situation. That's how a company should react so new customers come back and recommend their establishment. The manager even gave an example if a NJ flood victim had to cancel their reservations, they would not get a refund on short notice. The partial refund would have been around 90.00 because it was a Sunday to Monday stay at 199.00 and I was willing to accept less to get something back. It was shocking and completely unacceptable considering I paid 500.00 for the two nights and returning 90.00 or even 50.00 would not have hurt them in the least even if they didn't rebook the room. Not much I can do about it except to take this as a loss and a lession learned. I do not recommend the 1850 House Inn and will not come back. Not worth the money for what you get. Extremely dissatisfied. Be aware.

I arranged a team meeting and we booked out the 1850; the space was superb. Rooms were comfortable, the common areas were relaxed and cozy and the outdoor deck area allowed us to have a fun dinner (utilizing the bar onsite).Joseph and Kyle were just wonderful; incredibly welcoming and helpful - no matter what time of day! I can't wait to book this hotel for our next event!

I can't express in words the honest warm hospitality at this inn. Actual love for guests. And this goes for every single person on the staff. A genuinely happy place to unwind and celebrate.

We stayed at the 1850 House with a group of 14 friends for a long weekend. It was outstanding!!! We booked the entire hotel. The owners and staff went above and beyond to make sure that we had a memorable weekend, including organizing a specially catered dinner. The rooms are very comfortable and the mattresses are plush. The interior decor is charming and the front porch was decorated with mums. We enjoyed hanging out in the lounge areas. The outside amenities included a fire pit as well as seating areas.

The 1850 House hosted us and our microwedding celebration in October of 2021, and we had a wonderful experience. The staff was super personable, accommodating, and pleasant to work with, going above and beyond; the rooms were cozy and very clean; and the building itself and the grounds were beautiful. Our guests rented out each room so we reserved the full inn for two days, and the staff transformed the already lovely back deck into a gorgeous reception space for us. The inn also has a great location, it's very central and near a lot of local activities and nature. The Mohonk Preserve day passes that are included with your stay are a nice touch too. We are so glad we hosted our special day there and are looking forward to returning for future wedding anniversaries.

We were on an overnight bike trip and chose the 1850 house in Rosendale for one night stay. Kyle The Innkeeper as well as the owner are wonderful, accommodating, and the 1850 house is stunning . Nothing could have been better. The town is quaint, eclectic, with unmatched natural beauty. Thank you!!!
