We play almost every week there. Management is good. Only recommendation I would say is to upgrade the lighting and backdrop.

Very shabby place. Things are haphazardly kept. Hygiene of this place is terrible. They are supposed to be the sports center for kids/adults - the conditions of this place is horrible. Recently they hosted the Badminton Open Regional Championship, and I could hear a lot of people talking about the pathetic way this was arranged. The courts were slippery and the kids were slipping during the game. The admin didnt even turn the heater on to dry the courts until a few kids slipped and fell in the courts. The bathrooms were filthy and they didnt even have proper wash area to freshen up. The center was crowded with kids and parents and the rooms were stuffy and suffocating. Looks like the admin doesnt even care. We had a very bad experience.

This so called badminton center is a joke of the highest order. This review is about the organization/the court facilities and not about the coaches or players.Long Island ORC, scheduled for the weekend of October 7-9 2023, was most disorganized event I have ever witnessed. Here are few highlights of the debacle that unfolded on poor kids (u-13 and u-15).TLDR:1-5 Talks about shoddy management and trauma the kids went thru due to an inefficient logistics and staff.6-11 court and facilities.1. The schedules were behind 6 hours - you read that right: 6 hours. The last match was played at 1:30 AM on the very first day (or should I call it the second day??) of the tournament. Kids and families were tired beyond their life and yet were asked to wait and play. There were 2-3 courts available - but the center was not adequately staffed to run the games. Laughable indeed - since they were conducting a USAB ORC tournament!2. The trauma the kids had to put up with due to a shoddy staff and management of an ORC tournament is beyond one’s imagination. This is not the experience that a player endure before their games. Families spend their hard earned $$$$ in grands to see/provide an opportunity for their kids to play without worrying about the organizational stress around the event. In this case, the management colossal failure unfurled the horrendous stress on kids and it made the stress due from the game look like a tiny speck.3. Few players that came in at 9 AM - waited almost 8+ hours to play their first game and were forced to wait till 1 AM to place Boys/Girls singles.4. Announcement was made around noon asking for parents to be chair umpires (score keepers/calling the game etc…) Have you ever heard of an ORC tournament where parents are called as chair umpires? Don’t folks go through training and certifications in order to officially umpire a match? Is this an ORC or a class tournament? If they are short staffed, why did they host the tournament?6. If U-11, 17, 19 were allowed to play consolation rounds of the same ORC, hosted in LIBC, why did you have to cancel for u-13, 15? Shouldn't the rules for an ORC be same across all age categories? Who gives the management the right to cancel for two categories and not for the others? Is this even an ORC or a Gully Badminton tournament where you change the rules on the management’s whims and fancies?5. Rude staff: parents’ and players’ questions were met with a scorn and looked down upon. One of staff completely neglected a parent’s question on the player and a referee was asked to talk to the parent to sort out a situation mismanaged by LISC staff. They blame it on USAB for sending only THREE Referees.6. Low and tapered ceiling with a ceiling fan ensured game style (high volleys/serves) had to be constantly adjusted for fear of losing points. Ceiling fan blowing wind altering the birdie direction!7. Courts were NOT taped and lines weren’t marked clearly. The tapes kept coming off and games frequently halted to fix the problem.8. First floor courts: flooring was hard floor and a kid was seen crying that she hurt her ankles when they left post midnight. Are they even approved courts for USAB tournaments?9. Temperature: Basement courts were a sauna, with inside temperatures at 90-95F (along with humidity) when it was 65F outside. The first floor courts were just the opposite - extremely cold. Both floors were on the extreme temperature spectrum making it difficult for the players to adjust and play their game.10. Bathrooms: Unhygienic and not cleaned in a timely manner, made it an unpleasant experience especially for girls.11. Parking: Don’t even bother to drive. Parking is limited and road side parking has specific tow zones if you’re not familiar.I’m sure others parents would have additional points/miserable experiences to share at LISC.Having said this, How did USAB approve LISC as a host center? Does this facility ever get audited?I will never ever return to NE ORC if it is hosted by LISC and put my kids through torture and trauma.

The girl at front desk was so rude. My kid has been playing there for two years and was always treated in super bad attitude like we all own her 200 bucks. I heard that’s owner’s daughter. If that’s true, her dad will be super happy that she drove many clients away. Lots of our play mates stop going these days just because of the young lady’s “nice treat”. Good luck!

Purchased what I thought was a new badminton racket for my child. Paid a high price, only to find that the exact same racket (brand new) sells online for only $60. I might have been OK with that if the racket was actually new. However, I paid more than twice as much for what is clearly a used racket! At home, I looked very closely at the racket that was recommended for my child and noticed chipped paint, dents, and scratches at the top of the racket and grime/filth at the top of the racket and at the bottom of the handle. I had to clean my child’s “new” racket with a wipe, which turned brown. Will never buy another racket or anything else from this place.

I went to the Long Island Sports Center for the spring camp. The coach was extremely motivating, and I learned a lot about skill, strength, and stamina. It was a great experience that I would recommend to anyone looking to improve.
