I'll start by saying the cheese I purchased was delicious, however the woman who was assisting me was awful. She was as nasty as can be and completely lost her patience with me very quickly. i have never been treated that poorly by any shop anywhere before. She should not be dealing with the public. I was unsure of what I wanted, there are so many types of cheeses so I was asking questions- I would Completely admit if I was annoying but i don't think I warranted her treatment.

The adorable little structure that houses Cavaniola's Gourmet Cheese Shop feels pulled straight out of a medieval village, where metalsmiths and welders dotted the townsquare and you might pop in over to a stand like this for cheese. This is just based on my extremely superficial knowledge of medieval architecture and people, which is all to say that this little shop has old timey charm. They manage to pack a whole lot of products into one small store, with shelves filled with jams, chocolate, crackers, accoutrements, and of course many refrigerators filled with cheese. I came in wanting a sampling of cheese with different flavor profiles, and the woman behind the counter was extremely helpful suggesting cheese made with different types of milk, with various textures and made sure I wasn't picking cheeses that were too similar to one another, which I really appreciated. I also got some rosemary crackers and a baguette to eat with the cheese. Every cheese I got was absolutely fantastic, maybe some of the best cheese I've ever tried. I'm having a hard time recalling the names of the cheeses but put your trust into the hands of the woman at the shop and she will not lead you astray. It left a lasting impression on me.

I have given up on Cavinola's Kitchen. I love their Panini sandwiches, but they are constantly out. Today I asked why they keep them on the menu and was told "we like to have them on the menu for the times when we have them". That, coupled with the ability to order online at Harbor Market has sealed the deal for me. Now, Harbor Market just needs to get cheese and wine!

This was a cute little cheese shop. I tried the mozzarella and tomato panini ($11) and they let you have it hot or cold. My husband had the lobster Mac and cheese and heated it up at home and loved it. I'll definitely be back to try more here!

This gourmet cheese shop only stocks the best of the best. Pair your cheese with one of their wine recommendations from the wine shop next door!

We live near Harbor Market and it's a real go to for us in Sag, but the prepared food at Cavaniolas is spectacular, best in Sag. Recommend: Crab cakes Broccoli rabe MEATLOAF OMG what this is insane Meatballs Caprese salad Pretty much all the desserts Lobster salad ( note it is NINETY FIVE dollars a pound. Is this above the gold standard? It might be. It's outrageous but it's tasty.) They are also very nice here, significantly more so than the cheese shop next door. Still you can complete all your fancy shopping in one place at Cavaniolas.

Overcharged us considerably for a cheese that isn't hard to find-midnight moon. They weren't friendly and at that price for just adequate cheese really don't think I'll come back.

Well chosen assortment of mostly European cheeses. Very knowledgeable staff, tastes freely offered. Small assortment of apps, crackers etc. All top of the line.

We're Amagansett customers and fans of this location. I get a kick out of the DNA of small shops, particular food ones. I love the staff that run this lovely cheese store. Prosciutto is slice to perfection, divine selection and great recommendations. The panini's are excellent too. Some of the negative reviews on staff -- I've seen people come in sample 5 or more cheeses say thank you and depart. That's rude. It's not Costco. Always happy to have this gem close by our summer house.

I have to highly recommend Cavaniola's for the holidays. Their catering menu and the quality of food is absolutely incredible. They make it so easy to entertain with all of the right choices and most importantly the right instructions! my Turkey last year was tender and delicious and they did all of the heavy lifting. Can't make a higher recommendation if you plan to enjoy your guests over the holidays and let someone else do the work!

If you like cheese, Cavaniola's is a must. They have the most fabulous selection of cheeses and you may try as many as you like. They are intent that you find the right cheeses for your dinner party or picnic or casual dinner. They also have wonderful salamis, olives, oil & vinegars. AND make sure you stop in next door to their wine store in one of the oldest buildings in Sag Harbor. You won't be disappointed.

What a beautiful cheese shop! The woman who helped us was insistent that we try things, which I really appreciate. There were a few cheeses here that I know I can't get anywhere else, same goes for meat and other products. For example I have a hard time finding epoisses anywhere and when I do, it's either over or underripe, but here it was perfect. I would definitely consider them a specialty cheese shop, and because of that they are a touch pricey. But well worth it for the products they offer.
