I started my vehicle search at Smith Haven and after doing months of research on pricing, fees, and negotiating with the other Mazda dealerships, none of them beat the team at Smith Haven.
The first sales associate I spoke with was Dennis H. and he was knowledgable about the inventory, up front and honest regarding all prices, fees, and where Smith Haven excelled compared to the other dealers without being pushy. Dennis was also very communicative and responsive as we went back and forth about shifting inventory and prices.
However, I needed to shop around and make sure I found the best deal.
After almost purchasing elsewhere, but then getting the actual numbers from other dealers, (lots of fees that are not clear, despite asking about the numbers!) nothing beat the value,
quality of inventory and service that Smith Haven offered.
Scott H. executed the sale for me because at the last minute. I found a vehicle I liked better at Smith Haven, while Dennis happened to be away. Scott made the process simple, fast, and fair. It was great to work with him and he was super detailed oriented when it came to delivery and providing all of the answers to my questions during the transaction.
Delivery was smooth and efficient and the prep team did a great job with the car.
Steve from finance was friendly, knowledgable and made the transaction simple. The invoice breakdown was easy to read with nothing unexpected. He was very knowledgable about the add on packages but was not pushy.
From start to finish, everyone at this dealership was professional and friendly.
Chris does a great job managing his team. He was transparent about all of the aspects of this transaction and thanked me for returning to give Smith Haven my business, as he was well aware how much I was shopping around.

In September 2025, I purchased a 2025 Mazda CX-5 at Smith Haven Mazda in St. James, LI, and I have to say it was a very pleasant experience. That's right - I said purchasing a new car was a 'pleasant' experience. The main reason for this compliment to the dealership was my salesman, Joe Collocola. Joe has got to be one of the most personable, honest, forthright salespersons I have ever met. I told Joe exactly what I needed and wanted in a car, including what I could afford, and he delivered. No sales pitches to sway my decision. Joe just listened to me and showed me the exact kind of car/model that I described and could afford, and I bought it on the spot. I have now owned the car for 5 weeks, and I am completely satisfied with the vehicle. So if anyone is interested in purchasing a Mazda, go see Joe at the Smith Haven dealership.
