i felt extremely uncomfortable as multiple people in the store (staff?) appeared to be following me and a friend around. maybe silently following people around from room to room is standard procedure for the store on a slow day, so i'll give them the benefit of the doubt, and not claim that there was any personal prejudices involved. someone should begin to consider getting security cameras, as it'd be a much better alternative to their current security measures.that being said, it was a cute little store. you can probably have a better antique shopping experience elsewhere, but neat trinkets.

I'm sorry to give the Sanborn Old General Store a low rating, because it's one of the few stores of any kind in my little town, and because I've gotten some great furniture and tchochkes here, but last time I stopped in, there was a bunch of Black memorabilia, like Aunt Jemima cookie jars and figurines of Black children eating watermelon, in Booth #8, which I found racist and offensive.I emailed the Store to ask whether they would consider making their merchandise more "inclusive," so a diverse clientele would feel safe and comfortable shopping there, but they never responded, so I'll be spending my money elsewhere.

I have to stop here every single time I'm in the area. I've bought a lot from here over the years and always appreciated the variety and prices.
