Please stop banning bikes in this preserve. Why would you allow cars in but not bikes. Ridiculous

One of my family’s favorite parks. Such a beautiful scenery. They even have a playground on the grounds, access to the beach, hiking, and a cute lake. Great location for taking professional photos as well! So many nice spots. And so many memories made here.
Restrooms: Inside the big building.

The Sands Point Preserve is a beautiful castle in Sands Point, part of Port Washington, on Long Island. It is a huge estate that overlooks the water with stunning gardens. There are great family friendly events throughout the year hosted at the preserve.
The large American estate was built for Howard Gould and completed for Daniel Guggenheim in 1912. It is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The grounds contain two castle-like buildings; Hempstead House is the main house, and a smaller house is known as Castle Gould.
Highly recommend coming here for a day to enjoy the castle and the grounds in all of their glory!
PS - the grounds are pet friendly with plenty of easy parking!

A beautiful place with trail. It was great walking on the trail. It stopped raining a few minutes before we arrived, so we didn't spend too much time to explore the preserve. A couple was taking their wedding photography there.

This used to be my favorite park. But unfortunately, I have not recently been able to go because it is not appropriately wheelchair accessible. While they have a paved road , it is in such disarray that the wheelchair will bounce around heavily making it very difficult to move even on the paved road. I used to be a member but they really need to think about people with disabilities and paved that road better.

Absolutely beautiful!! My lovely now to be fiancé, proposed to me here today, 07/19/2024.
Only problem is the trees are under attack by the invasive specie spotted lantern fly!!!
Hopefully this comment brings awareness to the issue?

Huge plus!
Beautiful place, clean, peaceful… well maintained!
There is benches and tables all over the place, so you can have a good picnic and enjoy nature.
Its so beautiful that looks like an oil painting at some point!
Beautiful garden!
You can hike, you can swim, even tho there is a few seaweeds…
Perfect place to enjoy yourself and find peace with you and with mother nature !!

Good place to explore hiking trails. There's some very nice greenery. You can walk down to the Long Island sound. There's a rocky beach that you can fish off of, but there is no swimming. There are ample tables for picnicking but you may have to reserve them. I went on Father's Day with my daughters and it was chill and we got a table without a reservation. This place is also known as sands point preserve. 15 bucks to bring your car in and park. There's a food truck and some vending machines. (Dog friendly)

Beautiful, peaceful park with vast open spaces, access to the shore, and a large fenced grassy dog run. The castles with their austere stony facades add more charm to the park

I've visited this place several times, and it's a place I want to come again. It's so nice to take a walk. It's quiet and healing. The sound of birds, the sound of waves, the sound of water flowing. It's good for walking with your pet dog. It's also good to take a walk with children. There is also a children's playground. I paid $15 at the entrance. I couldn't get into the mansion. I'm not sure if it's not open after the pandemic.

Very nice little spot in port wash, took my mom here for Mother’s Day for a brisk walk on the trails entrance is $15 per car and $4 per walk in, depending how you enter. 4 and over def worth the car. You drive right into a nice lot in the middle of the preserve, plenty of parking when we went, well organized and clean. You get out and you can go to multiple different trails, they’re all very very easy hence why I chose to bring my mom. The trails are pretty scenic, nothing breathtaking but super pleasant to the eyes nonetheless, it’s actually quite large the entire preserve. We didn’t explore everything but we went to the mansion and rose garden then looped around 2 trails and called it a day. Not TOO much to do, but for a nice day out in the sun, do a little picnic, this place isn’t too shabby. Bathrooms are clean, just very old. Oh and bring a little rope or some string, there’s a wishing bridge.. we didn’t know. Enjoy!
Parking: Drive in, there are 2 lots, one fits about 100 cars give or take, the other much smaller across the field maybe 30-50
Fees: $15 per car. $4 per walk in
Restrooms: Clean restrooms inside castle gould
Dog-friendliness: They have a small enclosed dog park. Very small.
