I have been patronizing the store for a number of years particularly using the wood shop to help cut certain pieces that I need since I do not have a shop planer. A couple of weeks ago I brought in a piece of mahogany that was left over from an entry door that I was working on. I gave Dave the drawing with measurements to mill a threshold for me. When I picked it up he was not there so I paid for it and left. When I got back down to Albany we tried test fitting it and found that he had cut it short on one side. Because of that we were unable to install it. I contacted the Woodshop as soon as they were open again and he told me he didn't know how that happened. No apology. He redid the job using wood that they stocked. That would have been satisfactory however he insisted that I leave with him my original piece of wood. I explained to him that I could use it for something else since it was original to the door and he rudely told me that if I didn't leave it with him that he would charge me for doing it over. This is absolutely ridiculous. I'm not looking for a free piece of lumber. He ruined my first piece by cutting it short and put us behind schedule in doing the door install by a week, plus I had to make an extra trip from Albany to go and pick up the new piece, and he had the audacity and tackiness to tell me I would have to pay for it again just because I wanted to keep a piece of wood that I supplied?! I ended up leaving the mahogany and called the manager who told me that he had health problems but would talk to him and get back to me. Big surprise, he never called me back. They obviously don't care about losing customers.

Always great service when I go there smaller than the bigger hardware stores like Lowes and home depot however they make excellent use of there space and literally have everything you could possibly need it's a lot closer for me then heading all the way out to exit 15 when I could shop locally right here in saratoga they do have a lumber yard on site also prices are relatively competitive and they have alot of long term employees and that says alot about how they run there company I have grown accustomed to seeing these people over the years and it makes me feel very comfortable shopping in that environment.

So when my spouse first moved here, he was very dismissive of a small locally owned hardware store and insisted on going to the big box stores, but one day I convinced him to check Allerdice and not only did he find the thing he was looking for, he found three other things that he hadn't been able to find at the big stores and assumed just didn't exist in NY. Allerdice is magic. Also the people who work there are friendly and helpful without ever being condescending. I have never felt like they're judging me for being a woman trying to do stuff myself. 100% recommend.

Went to Allerdice looking for a few items. I walk with a crutch, so I appreciated the fact that I was met at the door and it was held open for me. While wandering around looking for some shammies/shop towels, an employee came up and asked if I needed help finding something. I described what I needed and he offered to fetch me a selection and return anything I did not want. I met him at the checkout desk and chose the towels I wanted. Everyone in that store was very nice and helpful without being condescending. My favorite place to get odds and ends I need for my apartment.

Great service! Ace has that hard to find thing and local! If they don't have it, likely you won't find it at all. Love their rewards program too.

A neighborhood hardware store. Big enough and a better selection of tools than most big box stores. A better selection of home repair items too. It should be your first stop, and a close one at that.
