I've only been in the store three times in six years with my last visit being over a month ago. My experience is always the same! I can't get past the sales person who greets me. I like to survey the inventory and check out the comfort of anything that catches my eye. If I like the look and feel of a couch, then I will inquire. As soon as I am seen showing interest in a couch, I am shut down. Suddenly, I'm being shepherded throughout the store, up and down. stairs, PAST couches I want to look at and being shown inventory THEY think I should look at while having no clue of my preferences like size and style. My last visit, the sales person showed me a particularly unattractive couch. I laughed and said "Absolutely not." He then continued explaining why it was such a great couch and what a great deal it was. I didn't say I was looking for a deal!In fact, I really didn't say anything because I was never given the opportunity to tell them what I had in mind. I was being told what I was looking for. I find them exasperatingly pushy and condescending, which is a shame because I prefer to patronize locally owned family businesses.

I purchased a sofa with a 'washable' slipcover from this store 5 years ago and have treated it with great care. I routinely wash the cushion covers in cold water and drape them inside to dry. I've never had a problem with shrinkage. Until this week, I had never washed the slipcover itself. So I called the store beforehand to make sure that washing it would not be a problem. The son of the owner confirmed it was washable and suggested I remove it from the washing machine and fit it back on the sofa while it was still damp.I removed the slipcover, washed it in cold water, removed it immediately from the washer, and tried to put it back on the sofa. It had shrunk by at least 5 inches. I then called the store for some resolution. The owner couldn't have cared less. He was snarky and just kept repeating that nobody had ever had that problem, except for one person a decade ago, who washed it in hot water. I repeated to him that I took extreme care in making sure I washed it in cold water, because I was so concerned about ruining it. Bottom line: he didn't stand by his product. When I purchased the sofa, I needed to find one that would fit through my door at the time. I had wanted to buy an IKEA couch, but it was a little too wide. So I was relieved when I found Saugerties Furniture Mart and they assured me that their sofa would fit. However, I will say that I was put off by the owner's attitude, and I should've trusted my intuition. I had a feeling then that if I ever ran into a problem with the couch, he wouldn't make good on it. Unfortunately, I was right.

Purchased over $12,000 worth of furniture and everything came in damaged and had to be replaced twice. The third time they told me they will no longer replace the items and I am “stuck” with what I have. Jonathan said that the items were as good as anything on his floor. I didn’t buy something off the floor but custom made. Rude and only looking to have a sale, they do not honor any of their products or stand by the quality. Stay away from this furniture place. They are horrible

Purchased over $12,000 worth of furniture which arrived damaged twice. Took almost a year for me to receive all pieces. Quality is not good. Amish???? I don’t think so. Maybe cheap Amish that they sell as high end stuff. The third time delivered with scratches. Was told I’m stuck with it as they will not do anything else and refused to give me the name of the builder for me to contact directly. Be careful. They only care about the sale and nothing after. Be careful as Jonathan is rude and obnoxious. Said he couldn’t meet my expectations. Yes, I guess I have high expectations not wanting scratches on a custom made table. Guess I should have known to request a refund after the first delivery of damaged items.Stay away. Raymour and Flanagan has better quality furniture If you notice the positive reviews are all older pre-Covid. Hmmmm

The bad reviews are correct. Jonathan is abusive, obnoxious and rude. I received damaged items not once but three times. Took 8 months to receive all of my furniture and the third time I was told "it is what it is and I am stuck with what I have". WHAT???? There are other furniture stores that offer excellent sales and CUSTOMER service And I would recommend that you stay far away from this merchant. Yes, they have Amish furniture, but quality???? To receive damaged pieces 3 times??? I would purchase furniture online direct from Amish just to never have to deal with Jonathan again.

Attempted to purchase dressers after driving an hour. Nowhere on the website does it say they will not sell separate pieces. Impossible to buy 2 dressers. At a furniture store. Go elsewhere. Oh and delivery is looking at 30 weeks. THIRTY WEEKS. No thanks.

My husband and I attempted to go into the store today with our baby (in stroller)…with full intentions of purchasing a leather couch. When we arrived to the door there was a sign listing “No food, drink, dog, or stroller”. Now I can understand all but the stroller???? My husband went in and explained to the salesmen that we have a baby and a stroller with us may we still look around and he was told that we need to leave the stroller in the entryway and can carry the car seat around??? Or to “come back when you’re ready”?! Whatever that means? If anyone has a child they know just how heavy car seats alone are but add a 3 month old baby and it’s a lot to carry around a store (also a strollers movement soothes the baby and keeps them sleeping!) when trying to make a decision on a large purchase such as a leather couch. My husband and I drove an hour to come to this store after hearing of someone’s recommendation - however we will not be coming back to make our purchase here. How do you except growing families to come to make a purchase at your store?

We recently purchased a bedroom set from Saugerties Furniture Mart. The product, Amish made furniture, was exactly what Jonathan, our salesperson, said. It was well built, how furniture in the past was made. More importantly, Jonathan was knowledgeable about the furniture, kind, and patient with our many questions. He made many suggestions which made the bedroom set much more useful - namely size, color, and configuration. After the furniture arrived, we noticed a slight blemish near a draw. He immediately arranged for two repair options. The first and easiest option worked perfectly - namely Steve, a long time employee came and completely repaired the dresser. I would recommend Saugerties Furniture Mart to anyone who wants an outstanding product, excellent service, and a store that totally stands by their merchandise. In this era with mail order dominating the market, it is a pleasure to deal with a local merchant who is reliable and pleasant. Buy local!

I feel very fortunate to have found Saugerties Furniture Mart (and Jonathan!). I was looking for a particular Amish builder (Crystal Valley Hardwoods) to construct a couple of bathroom vanities for our new Craftsman style home. We purchased a vanity from CVH several years ago and loved the quality and price. It's was difficult to a dealer for CVH in the NY/MASS region but, thankfully, Saugerties handles CVH orders. Working with Jonathan at Saugerties Furniture Mart was really a pleasure. He was knowledgeable, responsive, and incredibly helpful. The vanities came in weeks apart. Jonathan offered to store the first until the second arrived - and keep them both until we could get there to pick them up and take them to our new home - a couple of hours away. He was kind enough to help two old ladies :) load the vanities into our little moving truck - position them expertly to handle the trip without a scratch! Above and beyond in my view. Finally, (and importantly) Saugerties' pricing for the vanities was incredibly reasonable - and the personal service offered up by Jonathan really made the case to order from them versus going directly to the furniture maker (which I've found can be a little tricky). Though a couple of hours from our home, we'll definitely consider Saugerties again for our future furniture needs!

I just called and got Russell to see if there was a chair on the floor. I waited until 11 to call because I was so excited to come over and take a look at the chair I saw. I’m pregnant and wanted to check if it was on the floor quick before I made the drive. I loved the chair online and was ready to buy it. I have never received such rude phone correspondence in my life dismissive rude gaslighting condescending- would not answer my simple questions politely. - they replied below - haha the profanity I used was in my second phone call to tell them how upset I was. I was very sweet in my first phone call. This is a bad business. Go somewhere else first.

A large and upscale furniture store in the Hudson Valley area. The prices reflect the quality of the brands they carry, all of which will last you decades if not generations. There is a surprisingly large collection of pieces in a seemingly small and unassuming building, though custom orders are the focus of the owners. If you are on a budget or need something soon, check out the clearance section on the top floor. Prices are similar to budget chain stores, and will last far longer.
