I’ve been going to Ankers for 12 years there abouts. I’ve always been extremely satisfied with the quality of workmanship and the reasonable labor costs relative to the high quality of work. I recently bought a third vehicle knowing it needed a lot of work. After the work was completed I picked the vehicle up, let me say this, it’s a 25 year old plow vehicle and it runs and drives beautifully. I’d rather buy a cheap vehicle and have the folks at Ankers do what needs to be done. That way I know I have a safe reliable car. Otherwise this wouldn’t be the third vehicle to go in for substantial repairs. The other two cars are still running perfectly.

I’ve used Ankers in the past and they were great service, friendly, clear itemized bill, this time I wasn’t very happy. Dropped my car off late in the day, next morning Muhammad calls me with a quote saying it would be somewhere around $600. Great! No problem get it done. Calls me to tell me my car is ready and now it’s $796 and the only explanation I get on why it went up so much was they had to use more coolant then expected. Paying cash so I got that discount and he gave me some other small discount for my total of $745. When I get my bill the labor on the bill is less then I was quoted but yet my bill was almost $200 more. As for the issue I’m not convinced it was fixed completely as my thermostat is still bouncing around a little between half and 5/8 on the gauge. they did do a great job at finding the leak and fixing that issue. I just think there is something else.

Michael made me feel extremely comfortable. At this location it is very evident that they are more interested in helping the customers and their community as opposed to trying to collect a dollar for every thing! Ankers is by far the best customer service I have experienced in a very long time!

I've been coming here to get my oil changed while I'm at school for a year and I have NO complaints!! They are friendly, transparent, giving more than what's expected of them. I trust them as much as my small town mechanic down the road. Also I love that they have a punch card!!

Got an inspection here and they passed it, said nothing was wrong. Just took it to another place to get belts changed and they showed me that my subframe is completely rusted in the front, and that it shouldn’t have been passed at all, and that it was actually not safe to be driving it. Also quoted over $200 more for the same job that this place is giving me for $600 instead of $800. The people were nice and the service was very good, but I don’t feel safe getting actual work done here now or an inspection.

I had always heard good things about Anker's, but never had the occasion to bring my car in to them. A couple weeks back, I needed a repair done pretty urgently, they got me in within the week and convenient to my schedule.
When I spoke to the tech about the estimate, I appreciated that they didn't talk down to me. I'm a bit of a DIYer when possible, and they explained everything without being short or patronizing when I had questions. Even though the repair I had to get was more than I was hoping for, they explained everything and they were 100% correct about what had to be done. And the price was completely reasonable for all of the work.
Unfortunately, after the repair the problem came back. I called them up, they got me in immediately and checked it out under warranty. It turned out that the problem was that the installed part itself was also bad (not really their fault), they redid the work and got the car back to me the same day with no charge. I'm more than satisfied as it's clear they stand behind their work. I'm glad to see that their reputation is well-earned.
I hope I don't need car repairs again anytime soon, but when I do I plan on calling Anker's.

Solid auto shop. I went to get my tires switched out with a set I purchased from online. They were honest and fair regarding pricing and fees (under $200 after taxes and disposal fee for the old tires). They even called me after the fact to explain why they put new caps on the wheel's fill ports (something I hadn't even noticed they did for free!). I plan to come back to Anker's when my truck needs future service.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Honest, Skilled, and Truly a Lifesaver!
Anker’s Auto Service is hands down the best place to take your car in Schenectady! My Chevy Malibu had a running rich code, and after taking it to a Chevy dealership, they were completely useless—they couldn’t fix the problem and actually recommended that I just dump the car. Frustrated, I kept looking for answers and ended up at Anker’s. That’s when I met Dave, the owner, and let me tell you—this guy is the real deal!
Unlike other mechanics who waste your time and money, Dave knew exactly what was wrong with my car after running his diagnostics. No guessing, no unnecessary part replacements—just straight-up knowledge and skill. To put things in perspective, another rogue mechanic I went to before Dave charged me $100 just for a diagnostic, only to list a bunch of possible repairs totaling $1,350. And when I asked him, “What if these repairs don’t actually fix the problem?” he couldn’t even give me a straight answer! I was basically being scammed.
Dave, on the other hand? He not only pinpointed the actual issue immediately, but he also suggested using a quality used part to help me save money. That kind of honesty and customer-first mindset is rare in this business. Plus, as a first-time customer, he even gave me a discount coupon to help with my repairs—who does that anymore?
On top of fixing my car perfectly, Dave also took care of my state inspection after the repair, saving me an extra trip. His professionalism, knowledge, and genuine care for his customers blew me away.
If you’re looking for a mechanic who is honest, skilled, and truly cares about doing right by his customers, Dave is the guy. I honestly believe the City of Schenectady should give him a citizenship and statesmanship award for staying so true to his profession. Anker’s Auto Service is the only place you need to go. I’m beyond grateful and will never take my car anywhere else.
