I had to have photos retrieved from a SD card that got corrupted and would not allow me to open. I dropped off the card at the store at 3:30 pm and by 6:30pm got a text from Erik they were recovered and put on a flash drive. Erik then said he was going through Amsterdam that evening and met me in Amsterdam! Went home and opened the drive and boom there was my much needed photos! Can't ask for better service!!!! My experience with the computer mechanic was excellent! The price was good, and Eric was very friendly and responsive. He even helped me recover a retaining screw that was lost during the service. I'd recommend this service to anyone local who needs computer work done.

I've utilized the services at The Computer Mechanic many times over the past 18 years. Starting out in the Niskayuna Location, this local small business maintained my computer network and the many desktop and lap tops we had. Everything from broken screens, bad batteries and many versions of windows had been maintained.In true small business fashion, Erik's computer mechanic business has been forced to adapt to technology and local economic changes. Through it all, he has kept all of my computers and systems running. I've purchased many computers from them, both built from scratch and used machines and have always been pleased with the product.

My factory amp for my car had water damage, I got a replacement aftermarket board but needed two chips from the old board to the new one. They told me they normally don’t do that’s for car stuff but told me it will be a chance , when I got it back , solder looked nice and clean and turned right on when I installed. I’m very happy with store and will recommend them for now on.

The worst. Brought my laptop in for the wipe and re-load special along with a new keyboard. The "owner" upsells me on getting a new battery in which I didn't think was necessary. Come to find out the battery he swapped out was worst than the factory one and my laptop completely shuts off at 35%. When I told him about the issue he pretty much shunned me. I brought it back in and he claimed to fix it with the biggest attitude ever. I'm still experiencing the issue. STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE.

His name is Erik Vilaghy. He should be in prison for what I suspect are multiple felonies. I merely walked inside his store with my girlfriend, and he had a white powder on his nose which was most likely cocaine. He had his pants unbuttoned, and one could clearly see he was exposing his genitals. He was mumbling his words, and it was at that point that I stood in front of my girlfriend to protect her from Erik Vilaghy who had a menacing look on his face as if to indicate that he is a rapist. It would be very hard for me to call the police to prove that he was doing cocaine, and it would be even harder to prove that his genitals were clearly exposed according to my attorney. I still can't make out what this demon, Erik Vilaghy, was mumbling to me, but he is a creep. I merely told him that my girlfriend and I are leaving and to stay away from us. He had a very paranoid look as he just watched us leave his store for the first and last time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS CREEP. IT TURNS OUT THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT ERIK VILAGHY! SEEK THE HELP OF THE SCHENECTADY POLICE DEPARTMENT AND YOUR ATTORNEY IF NECESSARY CONCERNING ANY PROBLEMS YOU HAVE WITH ERIK VILAGHY.

Left my laptop in worse condition than we gave it them. I don’t recommend going here at all, the owner was very rude and not professional at all. This guy doesn’t know what he’s doing and shouldn’t run a business. Brought the laptop in for a cracked screen, and received it back with a broken camera, which he refused to take responsibility for.
