I ABSOLUTELY cannot RECOMMEND Dr. Hernas and her team enough!! They are very promt, professional and you can tell they really truly care about your pets and their well being.
The front desk staff are always friendly and very helpful so thank you all for the amazing care you give!! I am FUREVER grateful!!

The woman who answers the phone is very rude and condescending. I run an entire customer service based business and would never talk to anyone the way she talks to people. If your pet is having an emergency or just needs regular vet care, do them a favor and find someplace else. The vet might be great, (she is actually very nice) but the staff is definitely not. Compassion should be a requirement of the job, so when someone calls in a panic because they think their pet is dying, they don’t get treated like a bum hanging out on a corner.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. There were definite red flags from the beginning with this clinic. We took our dog in for a routine dental cleaning and tooth extraction. She came out with an extra surgery that we did not consent to. When we asked why the extra surgery was done without calling us first, they stated that they "thought we would be cool with it." This is completely unethical. They removed a mole, which we knew was a mole and did not ask for it removed on her side. It required her now having stitches to now have to return to the vet to take them out. When I said that this was now a burden on me to take off of work another day to take her back to the vet, we were told we could "take the stitches out with nail clippers." The saving grace of this veterinary clinic is Dr. Harnell and it's unfortunate she wasn't the one handling our dog at the time. I requested her records from them, and since they are handwritten, they wrote in on different places on the records "mass removal" as if I asked for that. Again, unethical and fraud. The communication in this vet practice is poor and they love collect money. The list goes on and on regarding this unprofessional practice but this was the last straw for us.

Dr. Hernas was lovely from the get-go meeting my older dog as a first time patient. She approached Jules' medical condition as any doctor would: doing the least expensive, and least invasive tests, first. She made our older girl a little more comfortable (with antibiotics), giving us one more week to spend with her. The practice was closed when her symptoms returned with a vengeance, and emergency care was needed. We took her to Capital District Veterinary Referral Hospital in Latham. It was determined that she had a mass that would require surgery, a lengthy stay at the hospital (which we wouldn't want her thinking she was being abandoned/surrendered again), and a painful recovery (if she could recover) all at a huge expense. In the end, it's just not what you put an 11 year old dog through. We LOVED Jules, and were truly lucky to spend the six years we did being her family and giving her the furever home she deserved.
Veterinary care is expensive - no one ever says differently. We all will pay what we can to try and take the best care of our furbabies as possible.
Overall, I find the staff at Hernas Veterinary Clinic to be sweet, informative and professional and Dr. Hernas to be a kind, caring and skilled veterinarian.
*Please see photos (updated from original review) of a tuckered-out sunbathing puppy (13 weeks) who had her first well visit with Dr. Hernas today, and one of Jules, a beloved family pet, forever in our hearts.
