Terrible experience at Moisture Salon. My mom and I were 12 minutes late, ( we did call and he did not respond! ) and the stylist was immediately rude and dismissive—not just to me, but to my mom as well. He refused to cut my hair, claiming he couldn’t see my ‘natural curl pattern,’ even though my kinky hair was out in its natural state. I’m only 14, and his condescending attitude left me feeling humiliated and nearly in tears. To make matters worse, he charged my mom $80 for absolutely nothing. He was also upset that we didn’t use his products, as if that somehow justified his rude behavior. What’s shocking is that this isn’t new—there are reviews going back seven years about his terrible attitude. Instead of improving, he writes rude, dismissive replies blaming clients for his unprofessionalism. This isn’t just bad service—it’s a long-standing pattern of disrespect that he refuses to address. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place entirely.

Best part of this salon: I learned about Innersense products! The rest was terrible. From the haircut, hairstyle, styling techniques, care protocol … to the condescending, disrespectful attitude of the owner/stylist. He can be downright mean and nasty.
It’s taken a few years and now have a new stylist in a different salon. I finally have frizz-free, bouncy, springy curls … a far cry from the frizzy, lifeless wave I had using Moisture Salon techniques.
It was expensive, disappointing and life is hard enough without the owner/stylist at Moisture Salon being downright mean. Avoid this place if possible!

WOW. I've recently started my curly-hair journey after a lifetime (nearly 50 years) of using heated styling tools. While I've been having fairly good luck with it, every time I got a cut it felt like my hair took a few steps back.
I greatly appreciate people who truly know what they're doing and have a niche. That's what you can expect at Moisture Salon.
After arriving and being greeted, Brooke Irina took me on a JOURNEY. Not only was she very good at explaining things to me and showing me all the steps on the way, but she was also really fun. I'm someone who likes to CHAT during a salon visit and she is friendly, interesting and really funny. We had a great time.
Since my first appointment my hair has looked better with more even curls and the products she recommended have definitely made it healthier.
I'm looking forward to going back in 6 months for a check in and trim and to get feedback on how I'm holding up doing this on my own. Absolutely worth the trip to Schenectady!

If you have curly hair and the just thought of getting a cut gives you anxiety, I recommend an appointment here. Ron not only takes the time to trim and shape the hair specifically for what suits you, he also gives a lesson in care and maintenance. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and it’s clear that they care very much about the work that they’re doing. Following my first appointment, I’ve been able to style and care for my hair with ease. It’s well worth the cost and the wait for an appointment.

Wow! I recently received a phenomenal cut and coaching session with Ron, the owner. From the minute I entered the salon, I knew I was somewhere special. Two beautiful curly-haired dogs greeted me, making me feel instantly welcome and at ease. I love the salon -- it is peaceful and cozy. Ron and I had a great conversation about my hair and what I could expect. He was extremely attentive and responsive, educating me on the best ways to hydrate and nourish my curls, without any pressure to purchase products. I left the salon with an amazing cut and style -- and the best part is that I can replicate the results when I style it myself! This is definitely my new salon -- so thankful it was recommended to me. Ron thank you for sharing your talents with the curly-haired community!

Ron was successful in making sure that I know he doesn’t care about me as a customer, my needs or my feedback.
I waited almost two months to get my hair highlighted by Ron. I spoke to him about what I wanted and we came to the conclusion that We would do a sunkissed look which was exactly what I was going for. After the appointment and wearing my hair in different styles I noticed that the colour of the highlights started turning orange and didn’t look natural. One side of my highlights were chunky and the other side of my highlights didn’t exist. I contacted Ron about my concerns about the color and stripey ness of the highlights and asked if I could come back in to have these fixed. This was 3 days after my appointment. Ron managed to find an hour to fix this 2 weeks later. When I arrived to the appointment Ron’s attitude was immediately dismissive. He did not greet me at the door and when he finally saw me he would cut me off while I was explaining what I thought needed to be fixed. He got so upset that I wanted the highlights to be more natural looking/ less chunky that he stormed off and started yelling at me infront of three other clients in the store. This was shocking behavior to me as I had no idea why he was so upset since I was not in the slightest upset and had just asked him to fix it. To which he said he cannot fix it and I should’ve researched what a pintura was and that this is his technique and if I don’t like it I should go elsewhere. Then he proceeded to tell me that he could not work with me as a client and that i should leave. I told him if you’re unable to fix my concerns then I would like a refund. He refused to give me a refund (I paid $240 for these highlights Inc $40 tip so I really expected respectful service). After a whole debate with him I explained that I am getting married and the style of my hair is going to be an updo so the highlights on the underside of my hair were important to me to look good. To which he replied that he didn’t care if I’m getting married. So I told him he doesn’t have to care about that but I want my hair to look like it’s vibrant and healthy. I really don’t think I gave
Ron such a hard job to do. I came to the salon with no colour in my hair after growing it out for years and all I asked was for some natural looking highlights. Not only am I unimpressed by his skills as a hairdresser but I am also shocked by his lack of ability to accept critique and fix my hair in a calm and polite manner. In the end Ron put in a toner in my hair but did not address the streakiness. He was so mad at me and lost his temper with me that in the end after calming down he said he was sorry and that he was just stressed. At that point the damage was already done and I really think we could’ve avoided a whole scene if when I was explaining my concerns he would’ve said I see what you are saying here and this is what I can do to sort it out rather than getting so angry about such a small critique that was able to be toned down and Probabaly with some extra patience could’ve added a few more lights to remove the chunkiness. I wish Ron was more polite and calm because I would’ve loved to continue to be a customer but obviously that whole experience was hurtful and condescending.
Overall terrible experience with Ron as a hairdresser and as a customer server.

Im new to NY. WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE! I can not say enough good things about it. Ron is a very knowledgeable and skilled artist! I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he blessed me with a beautifully fitting, fun and flirty new cut that I just love, and at a great price! The atmosphere was clean and comfortable, a good vibe! I loved his dogs ? ?. Moisture Salon is a blessing to the curl community and I can't wait to visit the new location! Thanks again Ron! I've found my new salon!

Owns a dog. His dog was barking ar me as I walked by. The business owner owner yelled at me and my dog. He actually slapped at the window because my dog was peeing on his planter. My bad ?. ??. He came out to escalate it into something more. Nice attitude. It’s too early for this.

I have not seen or heard anything positive to say about the business and its owner. My girlfriend lives next door and we’ve seen him yelling at tenants that live next door abruptly on numerous occasions. He put a camera on the side wall for the tenants that’s says smile for the camera.. he also charged my mother a ridiculous price for her hair and snuck in extra charges for services/products she didn’t receive. When she confronted him he hung up on her multiple times leaving the situation unresolved. I do not suggest supporting this business.

Be sure to use Amex when booking. It will save you a lot of trouble when the little girl Ron has a tantrum insults you , and you walk out . He will charge you . Amex will refund you promptly , they are familiar with his practice of charging for No Service. There is nothing special about his cuts. My hair looked better in the before Picture, which is why he used someone else's picture for the before " on social media.

If I could give a zero I would. Horrible service and horrendous customer service. I would suggest that the "owner" take some classes on how to treat customers and how to talk to them. © Sandler Systems, LLC offers excellent courses on how to be a professional owner and customer center business. Taking your "bad day frustrations" out on a client is low and of poor taste. I will make sure to take my business elsewhere and to NOT recommend this business.

I just had the most wonderful experience at Moisture Salon. I received a cut that exemplifies how to do a curly cut. I was also given great instructions and the tools I need to take care of my hair. Both the stylist and owner took the time to make sure I was educated on maintaining my curly hair and that I was happy with my cut. I couldn't believe my curls could look so defined and be so soft, but Moisture Salon was able to show me the beauty of my curls.Services: Hairstyling
