The service could not be worse. At every interaction they were rude, slow, and sloppy. I will never ever go back to this business.

They were extremely helpful! I actually had gone to a different location first where the employees were rude and unhelpful, but at this Smithtown location employees were very knowledgeable and helpful, and seemed to be taking social distancing precautions (ex: blocking of the register with merch and having distancing sticker on the floor). Highly recommend!

The u haul location that I had reservation with was in Nesconset highway in Smithtown, NY. We reserved a Hitch installation for a Bike Rack. On our appointment date, we dropped off our SUV in the morning and they will call us when it is ready. We got the call in the afternoon telling us the Hitch was no good. It was "bent" when they received it from their supplier but they told us they still tried to Install it to no avail. ( who in their right mind would still install a defective part ). So they apologized and told us they reordered a replacement and gave us a new appointment for the following week. We accepted their excuse/reasoning. After we dropped off our vehicle again the following week and when they called us in the afternoon, they told us this time they couldn't do the installation because the "Bolts" was rusted in our 4 year old SUV and they don't have the proper tools to remove it. Why didn't they noticed the rusted bolts when they supposedly tried to installed the defective part the previous week and tell us they couldn't do it then? We were totally disappointed to say the least. We have wasted 2 full days of not having our vehicle. And when we went to pick up our vehicle, the worker at the counter was clueless and he just handed my keys back to me. My assessment is DO NOT USE U-Haul for Hitch installations, as a matter of fact, I think they should get out of the Hitch business, at least the Smithtown,NY location should.

Worst experience ever! Extremely unprofessional. Took two weeks to get my hitch installed because they didn't order the right one. "Expedited" shipping of correct hitch took a week and a half, when they said it would be two days. When I got my car back, multiple items were stolen from it. The whole car was ripped apart with items everywhere and they just left it! When inquiring about it, they said they have no cameras and they can't do anything about it. Not even an apology from the manager, she was overly excited to tell me that they weren't liable. If you value your car and belongings, choose anywhere but here.

Moving is so stressful and I want to thank the people at U-Haul, and this location specifically, for making it much easier. Jenny was just awesome and really helped us out. She was kind, informative and very helpful. Would definitely recommend using this U-Haul. Thank you!

Don't know what both of the one star ratings are about. We have used this location MULTIPLE times for renting trucks and trailers and were always happy with their equipment and their service. Plus, they are one of the few locations who sell moving supplies, and they're always well stocked. Their staff have always been professional and courteous. I highly recommend them.

Called U Haul of Smithtown to check stock on inventory of an item. Was redirected to general customer service and was told there was plenty of inventory to be had. Was also told they could not confirm this. I didn't want to take the drive without being sure but had no choice ultimately to be told they are out of stock. REALLY ??!! BAD COMMUNICATION BAD INVENTORY CONTROL BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE

I rented a 10 foot truck from this location yesterday to move from Brooklyn to Stony Brook despite the extra cost of driving the truck from Smithtown to Brooklyn and back (rather than one way) based on the high reviews, and because I've found Uhaul rental locations in NYC to be unreliable. At the end of the move when it started getting dark, we found that the headlights on the truck did not work. After pulling over and assessing the lights, we found that the highbeams did work so we drove the last portion of the trip with the highbeams on. When I called this morning to report the problem, the manager, Bryan, called me back and told me that I must have been mistaken (!?!) because the lights were working fine and that they "ran diagnostics" on the truck after my first phone call (seems unlikely given that he called me back literally 2 minutes later)-- a sketchy and irresponsible response to a serious safety concern.
