Not one to complain or even go as far as write bad reviews, only if they are deserving. I love NBT bank and have been using it since I was 14, 7 years total. I love everything they offer such as online-banking, and bill pay. I also love the convenience of NBT bank being almost everywhere in the area, from Northville to Albany (probably further). But I have left the bank due to bad attitudes and bad customer service from their tellers even managers. NBT bank is a great bank and I will continue to recommend to family and friends. But I will also tell them to stay FAR away from the Speculator location. If you are so miserable with your job that you can't be nice to customers ( the people giving you business ) then you do not need to be working with the public. Maybe it is because I am a person of color, since the other 2- customers that were in the bank at the same time I was were getting completely different treatment. I will definitely recommend checking out the Northville, Amsterdam, Broadalbin, or the Saratoga Springs location for STELLAR service and being greeted and thanked for coming in!! And, the most important part, a smile ! :) Rant over.

I agree with Larry's review that the employees there need to improve their skills in accomplishing what customers request and politely giving helpful answers to simple questions rather than looking down and and degrading people for trying to do business with them. Extremely unprofessional bank. Never been to a bank where the workers were passively angry and seemed to not even want to work there and were this unhelpful. I'll just set up a chase account , even if it means I'll have to drive an hour to visit my bank.

use this bank all the time everywhere else but speculator, I’ve never had an issue. I’ve been using this bank for about a month now and this is the second time that I’ve had an issue with this branch. Poor customer service. Not easy to deal with.

My daughter who just moved back to the area from California, where she was a project manager for a Large construction company, went to the Speculator branch of NBT to set up a business Checking/Savings Account for a local restaurant that she is buying and will be operating in the very near future. When she explained to the teller what she would like to accomplish, she was met with sarcasm and skepticism. Every time she exchanged information with the bank employee she was dealing with, she was made to feel as if she was incompetent and incapable. After continuing to politely engage with this NBT employee and getting absolutely no where she retreated, completely frustrated and returned home, where she told me details of her experience.When she ask me for a recommendation on which bank she should choose to establish a business relationship, I recommended NBT, because they have a branch in Speculator as well as the Gloversville / Johnstown area. This whole incident has been degrading and frustrating to her, and embarrassing to me as well, as it was me who pushed her in that direction. The NBT employee in question most definitly needs to polish her skills in customer relations and treat customers with a enhanced level of respect, and focus on helping her customers achieve there objectives rather than looking down upon them and making them feel incompetent. A bank in a remote area such as Speculator, NY should be Extremely eager to establish new business accounts and relationships, which sadly was totally contrary my daughter’s experience.
