This restaurant is closed and moving to another location on Merrick and 223rd St. Unfortunately I wasn't informed of this until AFTER placing an online pickup order and driving there on my lunch break.Walked through an unlocked door into construction underway and a nice older woman gave me the bad news. She told me they also have a Long Island location but my break was almost over by then. Currently in the process of disputing the charge with my bank. Please disable the "Order Online" option until you are operational again to prevent people making, then having to dispute transactions unnecessarily.

If you want authentic Soulfood this is the place to be. Everything is fresh and flavorful. The staff is amazing and Nae and her mom makes you feel like you a part of the family. The macaroni and cheese and Yams deserve a trophy. Lol. I love this place?

I ordered ribs with mac n cheese and candied yams, fried pork chops with spinach and black eye peas. I also ordered fried okra to eat while waiting for the ribs since they were gonna take over an hour to cook. The okra had a nice crunch but lacked seasoning and it came with no drizzling or sauce. My fried pork chops were replaced with 3 piece fried chicken because they had not received the delivery.. The fried chicken was a little soggy but had great flavor, the spinach may be a little too salty for some but I Love salt, the black eye peas were good and came with white rice which was a nice surprise..I must add that i did not eat the fried chicken right away which might have contributed to it being soggy. Will visit again

Wow I feel like calling New York City health department on them. The food was horrible. I am really sick.- two bites of meat, two spoonfuls of the sides. I could tell the food was odd tasting, especial the meat, it was like rotten.I place that food where it belongs in the trash. Shame on you southern girls for serving that garbage, never again.Horrible, horrible, horrible!

Southern Girls is a family run business. The owners daughters are working in the restaurant. They maintain two Dining Rooms.Vegetarian options: Southern Girls have collard greens, mashed potatoes, candied yams and carrots. All the trimmings as if it were a home cooked meal.

I ordered baked bbq chicken, collard greens and yams. . No bbq sauce on the chicken but it was tasty. Yams and collard greens tasted like they were out of the can. They tried to doctor the yams up. I’m used to the old fashioned way of collard greens and yams. Most places are like this but they do a better job with the yams. This was my first time and I probably won’t be going back. When I have a craving I’m just going to have to stop being lazy and cook it myself. Also, I’m used of some kind of bread with the meal. Don’t know if it was an oversight, but none came with it
