I recently had a highly disappointing experience at Dollar General. As a group of African-American professionals, all visibly over the age of 40, we stopped by the store after skiing at a nearby resort to purchase a 6-pack Angry Orchard Hard Cider. What should have been a simple transaction turned into an uncomfortable and discriminatory encounter.
The cashier insisted on seeing the driver’s license of EVERY person in our vehicle, including individuals who were not involved in the transaction or even in line with the person making the purchase. When we questioned whether this was a store policy or legal requirement, the cashier curtly replied, “I can ID whenever I want.”
This response felt dismissive and arbitrary, raising concerns about how and when policies are enforced. The experience left us feeling unwelcome and unfairly scrutinized. Due to this treatment, we chose not to complete the purchase and left the store.
This incident reflects poorly on Dollar General’s commitment to fair and respectful treatment of all customers. I strongly encourage the store and its employees to undergo training on customer service and implicit bias to ensure no one else has to endure a similar experience.
Would not recommend this location until these issues are addressed.

This is a decent store, but there is one employee who NEVER says "good morning" or "hello." At first I just thought she was having a bad day, but after several times shopping here, I realize that is her normal demeanor. I don't expect the Four Season's treatment, but basic courtesy goes a long way. Customer service counts.

It’s fine. A typical Dollar General. Has most things I need while traveling and a wide selection of most necessities plus lots of entertainment type items. I go to this chain a lot while traveling through New England. The prices are right for paper goods and food staples.
