This is my hometown. This is the eagle as we call it. Flaps its wings on the hour. It hasn't worked and I don't even know how long like 40 years? I can't remember the last time it flapped I think it was in the '80s sometimes and it wouldn't even flap on the right time at all or even consistently during the day night or whatever.
So they just fixed it. It's all beautiful and I wanted to go down and take some pictures of it and just be in that space again.
It's such a beautiful post office. Probably one of the nicest ones on the island for sure. Especially with its unique eagle.
You did such a good job restoring it It is absolutely gorgeous. I didn't even see it in the best of light but it is magnificent.
I love my hometown and I love this post office and the center itself. There's something just Norman Rockwell magical about it. Americana stuck in time as it captured in a painting by the man himself.

My mail carrier always goes above and beyond to make sure my mail gets delivered to me. I am on first name basis with literally everyone at this PO because my former occupation required me to have to call the post office to track letters. Thank you all for your service!

You have one of the most sweetest lady there name Lisa please make her manager eventually she is awesome and kind love her personality I was having a hard time in the centereach post office where I left upset because of them being very rude but this lady Lisa made my day!

Dec 22 2022. Walked in as door was open at 5:02 and 2 women at counter one was helping a customer. Wanted to mail a package for holiday. One of the women with dark hair yelled out in a Spanish accent"We're Closed"!! I said sorry door was open. It was 5:02 and just 2 min after closing at holiday season. No line and all they had to do was weigh my small box for price.People like this that give civil service employees a bad name as people that don't care.Happy holidays to the ones that do
