“Nice to see that this location is still a liquor store where people can expect a great selection and great, friendly customer service! My late father, Mike, Sr., owned this store from 1975 to some time in 1989 or 1990. Back then, the store was called Bliss Liquors and my dad bought it from the previous owner, Mr. George Zavoyna (who then went to work for a wholesaler and ultimately passed away in Florida in 2008). I spent many Saturdays and summers at this store helping out my dad who taught me valuable lessons about customer service. A retired man from the neighborhood, Mr. John Redecha, worked for my dad as well. I believe John’s wife, Phyllis, owned a decorating business on 47 St. off Greenpoint Av.
