I entered the post office at exactly 4:43, but was kicked out because it closed at 4:45. What kind of public services are there???

A Nightmare Experience at USPS Tappan, NYI recently visited the USPS location in Tappan, NY, and the experience was nothing short of a nightmare. The employee handling passport applications was not only incompetent but also displayed a shocking level of disrespect and unprofessionalism.Upon arriving at the office to submit my daughter's passport application, I was met with an employee who seemed to lack basic knowledge about the required documents. Not only did he refuse to accept the application, but he also insisted on additional documentation that was not mentioned anywhere on the official government website. When I questioned the employee about the necessity of the extra documents he was demanding, he not only failed to provide a reasonable explanation but also became condescending and disrespectful. I requested him to show me where on the official government website it stated the need for the additional paperwork, and instead of addressing my concerns, he resorted to yelling. This behavior is absolutely unacceptable, especially when dealing with official documents and government procedures. It's disheartening to encounter such incompetence and unprofessionalism in a service that should be reliable and trustworthy.I strongly advise anyone considering passport services at the USPS Tappan, NY location to be cautious and prepared for a potentially frustrating experience. The lack of professionalism and the unwillingness to adhere to official guidelines make this particular USPS office a place to avoid for critical document submissions. It is disappointing to see a government service failing to meet the basic standards of customer service and competence.

Awful passport experience. Go elsewhere. The man working there kept inventing new documents needed that are not listed by the US passport services. He refused to issue a passport to my son, who presented his valid passport plus a valid Pennsylvania state ID. I do not know why because the reason kept shifting. Said he needed another proof of address but then said he would issue a passport if we could present the original birth certificate, which of course has no address. Really, go elsewhere.

Just came here for 1:00 pm appointment to apply for a passport. They ask you to come 10 mins early, by appointment here. Came at 12:50, it is now 1:30 and the person that does passports is “still on lunch”.I ask you, why make appointments if you don’t plan to follow your own rules.

Avoid at all costs. Unprofessional and rude. Would rather drive to Orangeburg or Pearl River at least you know your packages or letters are in good hands.

Just went to the USPS location in Tappan to send my passport out due to incorrect birth date on it. The office supervisor/Manager was extremely rude and when I ask if Ican have the picture taken for the passport form, his response was 'I don't have any office clerk to take pictures'. I didn't know that special skill are required to take the picture. His attitude and laziness is for sure negative impacting the service at the location.

on 12/21/21, at 12:00 PM today, I entered your facility to mail six international letters, three where being sent by Regular Mail with a Certificate of Mailing and the other three were being sent International Registered Mail with a signed receipt. The forms and return receipts were all completed for mailing when I approached your counter service person. He was bewildered and asked me what he was to do with this mailing as I would “…hold up the line”. He advised that he was by himself. He attitude was one that I had inconvenienced him be presenting this transaction that was subsequently and smoothly handled by the Post office in Orangeburg by Brian for a total of $94.35.Your counter representative was rude and seemed that he incapable of actually processing the transaction.Do we now have to make appointments for mailing letters at your facility? The public wonders why the USPS in not finicality solvent. This interaction with your counter representative of evidence of why the USPS is not solvent. FEDEX, UPS and DHL do not treat their customers in this fashion.

Austin the supervisor is horrible. Very demeaning and doesn’t allow you to speak yet accuses you of not letting him finish speaking. Accuses you of not listening because you aren’t hearing what you want and tells you that you are uneducated about how the postal service works. Well frankly I don’t work for USPS so how about an explanation in a customer friendly manner and tone. Very combative. Don’t bring your business there. Use the Norwood Post Office they treat you with respect there.

The worst post-office I've ever visited. The employees are extremely rude including the supervisor and they aren't helpful at all. The supervisor even told us he wouldn't care if my package is lost in the transit to the destination. Avoid going to this post office if you can.
