This review is for ambience and accessibility only. I really wanted to try this restaurant because the lobster roll photographs look great but the only parking spaces are blocked by building materials. I'm sure the building materials are not paying customers. So this was a fail.

The food is surprisingly adequate for a small wooden shack out behind the bar on the water. Barley on the Hudson is principally and foremost about the water-facing view. I had low expectations for a basic menu, but the lobster roll was surprisingly moist and flavorful, the popcorn shrimp was crisply fried and moist inside, and the fries were well seasoned. All the burgers and sliders were frozen pucks overcooked into oblivion, but what more could you really reasonably ask for. It's a bit expensive for the offering, but consider it the price of admission for a sunny day on the water.

Pretty basic food but good prices for the food and drinks. Located on a small pier a few minutes from the train station. Very nice views of the river especially during sunset.

This place is a hidden gem with amazing views of the MCB and the Hudson. Food was excellent. Be sure to order the lobster roll, fish ? tacos and the wicked tuna sandwich.

Walked in a saw that whoever was serving the food was smoking a cigarette while serving the food so me and my family just walked

It was a nice Labor Day Monday at this venue with band Seeing Red. They played all of my favorites! Hamburger was really delicious made to order and the sunset along The River was just beautiful. It's a casual place though with no waitress service but I always seem to walk away liking it there.

Very casual! Eat outside by the water. Limited menu, I had fish tacos, taste great! You can get a beer at the food ordering counter, you have to go to the bar.

Awesome hidden gem by the water. Great lobster & tuna sandwich. The bartender was friendly and quick with my drinks. Great first date spot.

A 4 start experience and it says it all. Food is OK but I’ve had better. The vibe is good but nothing special. Staff looked bored but that’s also ok (the weather was pretty hot too). I don’t think I’ll come back here but if you’re in the area, this stop is good for drinks. Note that it’s all outside so there’s no escape from the heat.

I'm living in Brooklyn. Decided to visit Tarrytown. Found this place. In Dumbo (Brooklyn) one of the expensive and tourist area, lobster roll for almost same amount of price taste much better. Chicken burger is made from cheapest ( in my opinion) ingredients. If you there for food, better to find something better. For drinks this location is greatest in the town

Great view from the outside and very chic on the inside. The service was great! The Mac and cheese was very good as was the veggie burger and sweet potato fries yet they could have used more seasoning. Definitely a place I would want to spend an afternoon .

This was my second time vising Barley on the Hudson. I regretfully have to write this review about my negative experience with the bar. I opened a tab and left my card with the man behind the bar. Upon ordering a second drink, I was told I had no tab open and that my card had already been returned to me. This of course, confused me and I was shown the receipt for a charge of $34.00 and someone else's signature on it. I explained this was not me and that now someone has my card. A manager came out and voided the charge (what a heroic thing to do), and gave me a phone number to contact her. She also said that they would check cameras but I know that at this point there is nothing to do about the missing card besides have it replaced. However, now the day after, I've already gotten notifications from AMEX that whoever has my card attempted a charge for $98.33 at RPM RACEWAYS in Jersey City NJ. The staff and manager's response to this situation was very ineffective and showed very little understanding of the inconvenience this causes.
