About Adirondack Railroad
The Adirondack Railroad, operated by the Adirondack Railway Preservation Society, Inc. (ARPS), offers a memorable experience for passengers in upstate New York. As a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer-based organization, the railroad has been providing scenic train rides since 1992, with over 1.8 million passengers enjoying the journey. The Adirondack Railroad trip from Thendara to Tupper Lake is praised for its beautiful scenery, friendly volunteers, and the opportunity to explore Tupper Lake during the layover. Passengers also enjoy the Gateway day trip from Utica to Old Forge, which features clean rail cars, awesome staff, and stunning views, especially in the fall. While the trains may be older, this adds to the charm of the experience. Overall, the Adirondack Railroad provides a fun and scenic adventure, with inclines that offer a bit of a workout but are well worth it. The whole experience was enjoyable from starting at the Utica station, which is an experience in itself, the train ride, and the s'mores and hot chocolate at the remsen depot.
