I recently rushed my very sick cat to Green Acres, and after paying the up front $250, I was charged another $1800 for a diagnosis. They informed me that she was very ill, with heart, kidneys and lungs failing, and they suggested that I leave her overnight so they could do scans in the morning. The overnight stay would cost another $4000 and the scans would be $1000 each. This wouldn't cure the cat; it would only confirm what was going on with her and provide her with some medication during her overnight stay. So we were looking at a vet bill of over $7000 with no indication whatsoever that the cat might even survive. Because the cat's regular vet had warned me that the cat had heart and lung issues, and to expect her to become seriously ill and, possibly suffer an agonizing death, I told Green Acres that I'd take her home and then paid about another $200 for the medication they advised. My husband and I gave her as much love as we could until a very kind and compassionate veterinarian from Lap of Love came to our home to gently put her out of her misery -- in her own bed where she felt safe and unafraid. I really loved that cat, and the decision I had to make was gut-wrenching. I will never forget how Green Acres used this horrific situation to try to extract over $7000 from me, and how they didn't even bother to follow up the next day. Additionally, I never received ANY written test results, diagnosis or even a receipt for my credit card payment. When I sent an email requesting them, they didn't even respond. They care more about their expensive building than they do about the sick animals who need medical care, and the pet owners who are so emotionally distraught when they bring their pets for emergency treatment. When I tell people about my experience at Green Acres, they say they've heard the same story from many others. We need a more compassionate and less greedy emergency pet clinic in this area, as Orchard Park is so far away when you're so upset, and are transporting a seriously sick pet. Please don't respond with your usual canned answer that you're so sad to learn of my experience and that I should give you a call. Many others have also complained about your outrageous charges, so you obviously know about them and continue to pursue the practice. And if you'd really cared about the animals, someone might have followed up with me to see how my cat was doing. You have staff sitting there, chatting happily with one another while upset pet owners are waiting in the lobby, and their time could be used to make calls. By asking me to contact you, you do not intend to resolve my problem -- perhaps by returning some of my money. You will only to try to appease me, and explain that you must charge these preposterous rates because you have high costs to cover. Yeah..that's obvious. That building must have cost a lot. Compassion and true concern costs nothing.

This place is all about how much you can pay. The only thing thay care about is the money. Either you pay or your pet can die as far as they care.

I will never use an emergency vet again. It's not about the animal it's about the money. I brought my dog in because he was lethargic and vomiting. They main concern was payment so I paid the 164 dollar vet visit but if they needed to do anything else they would need payment up front. I don't have thousands of dollars in the back for an emergency visit. You don't have to pay up front if you go to the emergency room. You can do payment plans for an er visit but no not with an animal. So brought my dog home hopefully he will get better in mean time will find a place that care for the animal not the money

Worst vet experience that I ever had- if you love your pets, do not bring them here because they will take advantage of you for their monetary gain.

We were very impressed with the entire staff at this facility. We were worried to death when our dog started behaving strangely. From talking to Nicole before we got there, being checked in by Ashley and getting the diagnosis from Dr. Howard we felt immediately that we were in great hands. We were very appreciative of their professionalism and compassion and so relieved that our dog was on the road to recovery as we were leaving. I would highly recommend Green Acres Veterinary Center!

The staff did an amazing job calming both of us down during this stressful situation! They took our pup immediately, and he came back to us within 15 minutes in great health! We just returned home from our follow-up with our home vet, who said our pup will be just fine due to the fast action of Green Acres!

Dr. Haley is a very knowledgeable vet, and skilled in communicating medical language to worried pet parents. I have seen him more than once, and each time he was extremely empathetic and kind. We didn't leave worried or confused.

We were faced with a very difficult situation with our pet and Green Acres added to our stress. Their vets and staff were not on the same page and multiple times we dealt with the consequences of lack of communication and differing plans of care for our pet. Not to mention lack of detail on estimates until you pay your bill. Our pet spent a week at the hospital. The second day our pet was in the hospital we were told we could possibly bring him home and five days later had to fight to bring our pet home. The night we were supposed to pick up our pet, one receptionist told us we could pick up our pet around 10pm but that the doctor would call to confirm. The doctor never called and at 9:30pm when I got through to the front desk another receptionist told us they were waiting for us at 9:00pm. Given we live 40 minutes from Green Acres this made for an unnecessarily late night. Multiple times we were told we would receive an update on our pet soon and ultimately did not receive an update until six hours later. We asked a Dr. Bernat if Green Acres would be able to do a surgery that my pet may need and were told they do not do the surgery. Then on a later date spoke to Dr. Howard who told us he had done the surgery before and a second vet at Green Acres, Dr. Harper, could also do the surgery. Ultimately, we received a second opinion from another animal hospital that was way more thorough and provided us the best advice for our pet, regardless of money. The second opinion proved to us that Green Acres was not equipped to even perform the surgery our pet may need since the second opinion told us our pet would very likely not even survive surgery. Green Acres lack of communication and lack of expertise with our pet's medical condition caused a stressful situation to be worse. In the future we hope that Green Acres improves their communication, better coordinates care plans amongst their veterinarians, and if they do not specialize in an area, communicate so up front. Extremely disappointed!

If it's a true emergency, TAKE YOUR PET SOMEWHERE ELSE! This place takes advantage of loving pet owners and increases the price dramatically (especially in the middle of the night when you're frantic) and have caused people to euthanize pets unnecessarily because of their predatory billing. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! As of February 2024, they are under corrupt and heartless leadership and should be avoided.
