Called the vestal branch asking to help get into my loan account. I was told over the phone that my account got deleted, when I asked how that happens the response was “ it just happens sometimes” and she refused to help me any further. I ended up calling the Binghamton branch and they were so accommodating and helpful and I was informed that my account was not deleted. If you need assistance don’t call the vestal branch.

Everytime I go into this place with my client there is another person who gives me a little more faith in humans char was great the other day when we came into the bank and she went out of her way to help the elderly women who I was with, she stopped what she was doing and came to help her and was very personable!!! THANKS CHAR!!

The notary, (Dalia Gates)there was very accommodating to the women who I take care of!! She went above and beyond to help her and was very kind,caring ,and eager to try to help in the best way she could!!! My lady will only go to the vestal branch now!! Thank you Dalia it really was amazing of you!!

I have been banking here since 1998...I have had the best service in Chemung County as well as Broome County...they have been very helpful to me over the years and are very friendly...when I have not been able to do my own banking my daughter was able to do it...I worked for a gentleman that also banked there and I was able to do his banking...I have never had an issue and the staff at the branches I have visited are more than helpful

I need to "stick up for our bank"! The Rano Blvd. branch has provided reliable services for my parents, as well as my sister and me ever since they opened. As you would expect, there has been turn over in staff over the years, but we've always been treated with respect and professionalism!

Update: had a representative from the branch reach out about my negative review who was more helpful than anyone else I’ve spoken to. I really appreciate them trying to right the wrongs and working on their customer service. (Also can imagine that’s an awful job to have to call angry customers and deal with people being harsh over the phone so I can appreciate taking the time to do something that unpleasant and was very thankful to the woman I spoke with)Cannot say enough bad things about Chemung Canal. Whenever I call to get answers no one can help me, and they won’t cash my check even though they are my bank. I’ve never had a worse experience with a bank and would never recommend them to anyone. Poor service and they could not care any less about their customers.

This is the only known institution in the area that does not CHARGE for cashing its own checks!This new 'standard practice' should be illegal, as it FORCES every man, woman and child in the country to directly support the banking industry, either by doing business with them, or through extortion by fees.

Never received a bill for my first loan payment, so I paid the late charges and the $5.00 fee to make a payment. While doing this I make sure to sign up on auto pay for the future. Next month rolls around and in receive a notice 2 WEEKS after the due date saying it was overdue and I had $63 in late fees, called to complain was told oh well, we dont have the man power to let you know your loan is due, that's on you. Just terrible customer service, for as little as they do, they do it poorly.

I used to love this bank but can no longer recommend them. They have changed staff and policies which make it very hard to do business with them. Staff is not at all friendly and waiting in line while one teller waits on everyone while the others ignore you isn't my idea of good service. It is time for me to find a new place to bank.

Terrible service. Staff is very rude and not at all helpful. Had a problem and employees wouldn't help and the manager was never there and didn't return phone calls. If you are looking for a good bank I suggest you look anywhere by Chemung Canal.

I have been a customer of Chemung Canal for over 10 years and visit the Vestal branch a few times a week to make deposits for the company I work for. I used to love going there but things have changed and they are not friendly and could care less about taking care of customers. Recently was looking for a mortgage loan and they couldn't take the time to help - I was hoping to sit down with someone to discuss my situation and what would work best for me but instead I was told to apply online and then someone would call me if things looked okay. I went to a different bank recommended by a friend and they immediately sat down with me and had my mortgage approved in a few days. The reason I gave them 2 stars is because I really like their products, especially the no ATM fee account. I just wish the service was better and people friendlier. I guess if you never go into the bank that Chemung Canal might be good for you.

very rude bank employees and manager were not nice or professional. push button and wait drive through. horrible system and not convient for customers. no smiles or welcoming faces here felt like a prison.
