Owner stocks store with unique, hard to find items. She will do special orders for things she is able to get. It's a cozy, feel good place. Owner is a gem and is very smart. I like going there to pick up a few things when I'm in Wassaic.

I loved the old fashioned atmosphere of the store and talking with Ms. Kroger.

Old-fashioned cash-only countryside general store with quaint charm and lots of memories. Fresh doughnuts and bagels under glass covers and wax paper. There is a stuffed teddy bear which will play chess with customers. Newspapers are sold here, and old magazines. One can inquire about bulk orders for foodstuffs like sugar and salt. A few paces down Main Street is the store’s vegetable stand, which is open only in season. No more fresh tea and coffee since local government killed that with licensing! Outside is a bike rack.

A step back in time and the chessboard awaiting some ingenious moves. Health food and vitamins are priced fairly and some are difficult to find elsewhere . The owner is very knowledgeable and vets what she sells. An impromptu sandwich or coffee/tea is always available. Local diary ,fresh eggs and sometimes duck or goose eggs.

This place is worth a visit. They have big portions for reasonable prices. Consistently well kept and with awesome character. Will come back again.

Poor selection, and I didn't feel comfortable when I was there. Prices, even for an independent store, are a bit high.

Baroque music playing on an unseen radio as one enters what appears to be somebody's living room with a garage sale superimposed. Fresh doughnuts upon wax paper await you beneath a glass cover. There is free coffee and tea to-go. Everything else in the store is decidedly unfresh, as in “vintage.†Older newspapers and VHS tapes for sale. Older maps of Dutchess County and surrounding areas. Curios of bygone days from forgotten places. The proprietor is very nice. A banner in the window lauds Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Owner is very eccentric and does things her own way . One has to question how a store with such low business can stay open over 20 years must be some killer flax seed Sharon
