My husband and I had the best dinner ever at the Dog Bar on New Year’s Eve. I had surf and turf and he had the sea bass. Everything was cooked to perfection. The service couldn’t have been better! What a wonderful way to welcome in the New Year! We will definitely be having dinner there again soon!

This is our favorite restaurant! I love the atmosphere ( old school!), we love the service, the small town feel. The food is classic. I am not sure how anyone can complain about the prices here it's literally a 3 course meal with sides ranging from $30-50 ish dollars. All their food is seasoned well but you won't find anything " fancy" which is how steak should be eaten with salt and pepper! The owner is amazing, gracious, and kind. We love that you get to sit and relax and eat and it's not a fast experience pushing you out the door. We recommend the dog bar any chance we get!

For me, The Dog Bar is all about the historical legacy first and foremost ; the dining experience is secondary. That's not to diminish the meat and potatoes being served up three nights a week. You will literally step back in time as you ascend the single step up into the rustic bar. The ambiance is so thick you can cut it with a knife. The interior spaces are a warren of wood paneled, timbered ceilings, wallpapered rooms, carpeted floors, lantern lit and heavily decorated with early American memorabilia. The doggie decor in the tap room is interesting, especially to a dog lover like myself. We had been warned that The Dog Bar fills up fast, so reservations are strongly recommended. We arrived at 5:30 pm to a neat-capacity situation on a Friday night. We also had been warned that dinner service would take between two to three hours due to traditional cooking methods, no air fryers or microwaves anywhere! So let's talk about the much anticipated food experience. We sat for the better part of an hour with our glasses of water before our cups of soup arrived at the table. The salad course came along 20 minutes later along with a basket of muffins and some of the best buttermilk biscuits I've ever had. They were tender and moist, slightly sweet and fluffy with a nice crumble on top. The salad was not memorable. The Dog Bar must be doing something right! Every table was full, the place was slamming-busy on this evening. Many of the patrons seemed to be regulars, comfortable with the menu and the wait staff. I ordered the porterhouse steak, baked potato and green beans. My steak was done correctly, was tender enough. Nothing stood out, for example there was no fancy compound lemon-garlic cracked pepper butter, no sautéed onions. This steak had to carry the whole meal on its own. My husband held his comments until we got home. His fried seafood platter did not live up to his expectations. The thin fish cutlet was dried out during the fry process. He loves his coleslaw and potato salad, so this was a huge disappointment for him. We ordered a Peanut Butter Mud pie to split. It was delicious and it arrived at 7:30 pm. I can't say that we'd return. There are much better restaurants in the vicinity.

Perfect little hideaway. Friendly atmosphere envelopes you when you walk in the door. Joyce greets you with great cocktails. Then come complete dinners with great lamb chops, lobster tail or steaks. The house salad and soups make the dinner complete. One of a kind.

It's been a while since I had the chance to leave a review. We went to The Dog Bar for the first time last night to celebrate mom's birthday. And I'm sorry we didn't find this place sooner.Atmosphere: The decor is eclectic. It's an old-school steakhouse vibe. No hats allowed. The candle holders on the tables were super cute. It's a little dim but not so dim you couldn't read the menu.Service: Was super impressive. It was a full house, and not once did we have to ask for a drink refill. Our server, Annie, and the other girl running were on top of it. Super friendly but not intrusive. She didn't rush us, and she made recommendations for my mom. Best service I've seen in a long time.Food: Holy moly, if you like steak or lobster, don't sleep on this place. The prices are more than fair for what you get. Dustin got the 24oz porter house. It was $40. You get a soup (or fruit cup), iceberg lettuce salad, bread basket, choice of rice or potato, veggie of the day, and a cup or tea or coffee all included. (Where the hell do you get a steakhouse deal like that these days?) All dinners come with those included. Mom got a surf and turf, as did my sister and I. Casey and Dad both got the NY strip. All across the board, perfect steak temp with juicy delicious flavor, and that lobster was a sweet, succulent dream. And Anime (age 8) wasn't left out. She got chicken fingers a fries. Sizable portion, quality taste (no banquet chicken here) Everyone was ready to go into a food coma after the round of creme brule, chocolate cake and peanut butter pie. (All awesome)Was it expensive? Yes. It's a steakhouse. And compared to other a la carte places, this is a spectacular find. Was it a long dinner? Yes. Everything is made to order, from scratch, and it's more than worth the wait. Enjoy some quality time with whomever you go with, munch on that bread basket and don't worry about it.Was it worth it? One hundred percent. This is now our go-to celebration spot. I totally recommend it. Reservations are easy to make and definitely needed. It was totally worth the drive up from Ellicottville. (I'd travel farther to eat here)Thank you to The Dog Bar team for the excellent evening out.
