“This place drew me in, as I was walking by on the sidewalk. Although I was seeking a single night in a more “ordinary” hotel, the exquisite lobby, outdoor charm, and professional staff convinced me, this is my home for the evening. The intriguing decor with so much beautiful art work, cleanliness, and atmosphere overall is so refreshing. Although a little pricey for my budget, staying at Reikart added a nice touch to my vacation in Buffalo N.Y. It was well worth it.”
“Fantastic Inn! Many thoughtful details (self serve snacks and drinks available all day and night) plus the most amazing blueberry lemon scones for breakfast. Nice linens, historic building, great location where you can walk to the fun Elmwood shopping and restaurants.”

“My wife booked us a room here for an overnight (we were visiting from Rochester for a show at Shea’s Theater). Right away, the valet was super nice (and free) and we got complimentary sparkling wine upon check in. The room was solid, with the highlight being the bathroom (bubbly tub, an amazing shower and a toilet with all kinds of surprises lol!). Service was amazing, and the rooftop bar was great. Would highly recommend for an elevated experience in downtown Buffalo!”
“We really enjoyed our stay. The location was great, the staff were all great, the room was a good layout. A bit tired and could use a bit of a refresh but comfortable and had everything we needed expect for a robe. We loved the open elevator and the breakfast had a huge selection - way more options than I was expecting. Everyone was very full. And free parking!! Would definitely go back.”

Appetizers were fresh plentiful & interesting variety. Wait staff walked around with different appetizers. Tables full of cheese crackers fresh fruits perfectly arranged and very tasty.
The main course was outstanding the salad was a picture perfect. Tasty cold romaine lettuce drizzle with a wonderful dressing, Parmesan crisp and shaving of Parmesan outstanding. Main course was lemon chicken filet mignon wonderful interesting potatoes. It was like a scalloped potato pie with a interesting puff pastry crust, it was yummy. Fresh vegetables crispy yet tender. “As a lifelong Buffalonian, I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to see the Hotel at the Lafayette fully restored to its former glory. This building is more than just a place to stay—it’s a significant piece of Buffalo’s history, and I’ve had the pleasure of seeing it evolve from its heyday, through its rough patches, and now to its beautifully restored state. It’s become a favorite spot of mine, not just for its stunning architecture but because I’ve been lucky enough to attend so many memorable events there.
The hotel was originally designed by Louise Blanchard Bethune, who is a legend in her own right as the first professional female architect in the U.S. To know that such a trailblazing figure helped shape a building that’s still standing over a century later gives me a deep sense of pride in Buffalo’s history. The French Renaissance style of the hotel is absolutely gorgeous, with its intricate stonework, vintage tile floors, and high ceilings. Every time I walk in, I feel like I’ve stepped back into a time when Buffalo was truly booming.
I’ve been to the Lafayette for weddings, corporate events, and even casual meetups at Public Espresso + Coffee, which is located right in the lobby. They’ve done a remarkable job blending the old-world charm of the space with modern amenities. The Crystal Ballroom is a personal favorite—it’s got these elegant chandeliers and a grandeur that makes any event feel extra special. Whether it’s a lavish wedding or a business function, the space transforms perfectly for the occasion. I’ve also spent some fun nights at the Lafayette Brewing Company, enjoying great craft beer in a relaxed, historical atmosphere.
One of my most memorable experiences was attending a wedding in the hotel’s Greenhouse Room. The setting was intimate yet sophisticated, with beautiful natural light streaming in. It was the perfect blend of historic elegance and modern comfort, and it really set the tone for a warm, unforgettable evening. The staff at the Lafayette knows how to throw a fantastic event, from the service to the catering—it’s all top-notch.
Beyond the events, I’ve had a chance to stay overnight, and I was blown away by how they’ve restored the rooms. The suites especially feel like a perfect mix of vintage charm and modern luxury. It’s not often you find a place that honors its past so beautifully while offering all the modern conveniences. Whether you’re staying in one of their spacious suites or grabbing coffee in the lobby, you can feel the history in every corner.
I’m particularly impressed by how the hotel has become a part of the city’s vibrant downtown revival. Its location is ideal—steps away from Canalside, KeyBank Center, and some of the best restaurants and bars in Buffalo. It’s not just a place for out-of-towners to stay; it’s a hub for locals like me to gather and celebrate.
What’s also fascinating are the stories and legends that surround the hotel. Some say it’s haunted, which adds to its charm. I haven’t experienced anything spooky myself, but it’s fun to think that a building with so much history might have a few spirits hanging around.
If you’re a Buffalonian or someone who’s just visiting, I can’t recommend the Hotel at the Lafayette enough. Whether you’re attending an event, grabbing a coffee, or just admiring the beautiful architecture, it’s a place that truly celebrates Buffalo’s rich history. It’s an absolute gem, and I’m so proud to see it shining in its restored state. I know I’ll continue making many more memories here, and I encourage everyone to experience it firsthand—you won’t be disappointed!”

“I was at Aloft Buffalo Downtown for Roswell's Cancerchella. The hotel was very accommodating, fun, and very comfortable. Their bowling alley was a lot of fun and the XYZBar had great drinks and was very comfortable to socialize in. It gets very busy Friday and Saturday nights with the rooftop bar judging by the line of people waiting for the elevator up. The staff did well to work around some of the rude and pushy customers. I highly recommend staying at this hotel for a nice visit in downtown Buffalo!Rooms: The rooms are fun, trendy, and in my opinion a little nicer than your average affordable hotel. My room was on the 12th floor and had a beautiful view of Buffalo and Lake Erie. The bathrooms and showers were nice and spacious. There wasn't really much for a dresser but instead a place to put your luggage with a couple of small drawers underneath. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were quiet at night. There was also a small table and some seating in the room.Safety: I felt pretty safe at this hotel. You need card key access to get to the hotel floors via elevator. However when I left my room this morning someone had attempted to tamper with the card reader to my door, and the cover was off of it and laying on the ground. My door was deadbolt though so I didn't have to worry about someone breaking in. A few other doors had this happen to on our floor, so i just notified front staff when I checked out. There was ample security in the lobby and the bars, and I felt completely safe during my stay!Walkability: This hotel is very walkable where it's located in downtown buffalo. There are plenty of things to do within walking distance, including the theatre district.Food & drinks: The food catered for our Cancerchella event was fantastic! The drinks at any of the bars were delicious and typical pricing.”
“I just have to mention the shuttle driver Tamika! She was prompt and kind even when I arrived at midnight. She got my heavy bag and was so pleasant to talk with. I felt very safe in the rain. Definitely an A+ experience.”
“I was there for an event: it's a nice event space. During the summer it has a Resurgence bar. Their catering for our event went over well with the attendees.”

“We were there for a stand-up funeral. I mean wedding. Everything was excellent. The courtyard was the perfect place. The food was awesome. The staff was professional and efficient. I don't know what it cost but it was worth it.”
“Lovely room with clean, comfortable beds! We brought blankets to cover the bed for my service dog. She was a happy service dog!Nearby activities: Fantastic Greek Restaurant - Apollo Family Restaurant. Our waitress (Jennifer) was friendly, gave great suggestions, and made our experience fabulous! Great food!”
“Great location, staff and PHENOMENAL breakfast…made to order omelettes, great buffet. Really loved this spot. Also, the valet team were super responsive and friendly. Would definitely stay here again.”
“Was initially worried as we were coming up for the eclipse and most other places to stay were out of our budget. The room was clean, the showers were hot, the bed was nice, and it was convenient to get in and out. Surpassed our expectations and will most likely stay here if we make the trip back up to visit Niagara/Buffalo again.”

“This was an exceptionally nice motel!
•We checked in at 3 AM and the gentleman at the desk was kind and helpful.
•Our room was very clean.
•Area was generally quiet during our stay
•This location was very close to fast food & restaurants.
Only downsides we saw were that our icebox in the mini fridge was completely frozen & the pool was closed for fixing during our stay. That did not impact us that much though!
We loved how nice our stay was for such an affordable price!
I recommend this motel.”

“Good spot if you need to crash for the night before or after a flight. Hotel smells like smoke but the room for the most part didnt. It was clean but keep in mind this is an affordable and basic hotel for people traveling. So don’t expect an extremely nice hotel with everything brand new. The staff was extremely kind! Breakfast was a good basic continental which is great considering how affordable the stay was. Also loved that it was .5 miles from the airport and they had a great shuttle included.Truly can’t beat the price for all that was included here!”
