Hit or miss with Avis these days with a lot of high mileage cars. Always something wrong but never been let down or delayed by high mileage cars. GET SOME NEW CARS!! Otherwise you would have gotten 5 stars.

The car I pre-paid for wasn’t available. The customer service was poor. I was given a damaged car that required more gas than the original car. The restitution that was promised by the customer service representative on the phone was not honored. The gentleman at drop off tried to help but was limited in options. I’ve been Avis preferred status for a long time and am considering switching. I would not rent from HPN Avis again.

70m miles on the car with obviously faulty transmission. Returned it next day. Gave me another that was a good car. Treated me as I was a nuisance. No apology whatever. Not the company I remember

It was great car!! Makes me want to buy one for myself. Hybrid jeep wrangler. Was a perfect adventure car for my adventurous vacation. Service was spectacular. Check in and check out was easy.

Service was prompt and friendly. I don't like the car I received... luck of the draw.UPDATED 4 months later.There was note on Avis counter saying the agent stepped away for 10 minutes. After almost 15 minutes another customer came over and called to find out where the agent was. A lady at the next counter said she saw me standing and waiting, but thought I was just standing there for no reason. Another agent checked me in at the Budget counter. The car they gave me was not clean and had no safety features except a backup camera. No push button ignition or Android Auto like the last car I rented. I am nitpicking, but car rentals are too expensive not to have common (IMHO) safe features.

Make sure to check the gas level prior to pick-up and your invoice post drop-off. Upon picking up my rental at AVIS, I found the gas tank only half full. Despite returning the car with a full tank, I was surprised to be charged for fuel. This extra charge came to my attention by chance, and rectifying it required multiple tedious calls and much back-and-forth with customer service and eventually the extra cost was refunded. I discovered that such issues are not isolated incidents at this location, as indicated by another review. Additionally, the low oil light was on at pick-up, reflecting poor attention to vehicle maintenance. It's disappointing to see AVIS maintain such standards at one of their branches.

The vehicle was reserved several months ago, a 5-passenger standard suv. They had a 2023 white Honda passport available. It was very comfortable, great on gas, and the only issue I noticed was a small crack in the windshield (picture attached). I wanted to return it the day before I had scheduled to return it, but they would not give a credit for the unused day, because the reservation was prepaid. I wasn’t happy with that (hence the 4 stars), so we drove the car an extra day u til it needed to be returned. I don’t have any complaints about Avis itself, but the return process at Westchester county airport was a mess.

I need help to speak with the front desk staff at the HPN airport location. My plane is landing at 11:30 pm, but they close at 11:00. How can I get my car after they close. No one answers the phone at the front desk at HPN. Please help.

The car was great until I had to get an oil change on the road and when I returned it , they would not reimburse me without my having to fight because I had completely prepaid for the rental!!! Ultimately they denied me reimbursement. Do not use Avis!

Less than 24 hours after picking up the vehicle, the car battery died leaving us stranded. After multiple attempts to get an Avis rep on the phone, I was told that it would be a $130 fee for roadside assistance because I didn’t purchase the roadside assistance package at the time of pickup. The agent was rushing through the pickup process and never even explained or offered this to me. This will be the LAST time I ever use Avis

The car we received had cigarette ashes in the door and middle part. It looks like someone tried to clean it, but just smeared it. It smelled very heavily of smoke. We informed the counter agents. They said we could either have it recleaned and wait 1-2 hours or just deal with it. Someone in our group had an allergy, so we had to immediately drive to the store to purchase products to clean the car ourselves. This was a terrible start to our trip.
