I had an incredibly frustrating experience at PetSmart and feel compelled to warn others. I purchased the Puppy Discount Book, which includes a free puppy bath along with other good deals. For context, we brought our 4-month-old puppy in for grooming on February 13. Her hair around her face was overgrown and affecting her vision. We showed them the coupon, and they informed us that since we added additional services, we couldn’t use it. We were fine with that and were then scheduled for a follow-up appointment to use the coupon before it expired (March 31).
Today, when we went in, we told the groomer that we only wanted the free puppy bath and wouldn’t be adding any extra services, as we didn’t want to pay anything out of pocket. The groomer confirmed this and said, "Perfect, just bring the coupon to the register when you’re done."
After the grooming, we went to check out, and to our surprise, we were told that since our puppy was 5 months old (just a couple of days over the 5-month mark), she didn’t qualify for the coupon. The coupon clearly states it’s valid for puppies aged 8 weeks to 5 months. Why would a 5-month-old puppy suddenly not qualify?
I was shocked and upset to realize I was being misled and overcharged. Not only were they trying to charge us for a free service, but when I questioned the staff, they were dismissive and unhelpful. It honestly felt like an attempt to scam us into paying for something that should have been free.
I expected much better customer service and transparency from a well-known company like PetSmart. It’s disappointing that they would engage in such practices. I will not be shopping there again and strongly advise others to be cautious when using their coupons or services.

The people here are so nice and helpful. I had to take my cat on a flight and was concerned for his wellbeing . The staff worked with me to find the right size carrier and even kept the store open late for me to check out. The young guy who is the newly appointed manager could not be nicer and more professional. Great PetSmart they’ve got there. !

I don’t know what’s going on with Petsmart but the service is atrocious! I called two locations today 2/21/25 for my dogs to get just a shower, comb, and dry, not a haircut. They cancelled both times on me today abruptly without giving reason why they cancelled my appointment. For the Pelham and Yonkers location. My assumption is that they saw an appointment first two big dogs and didn’t want to work late on a Friday night despite their services being open. This is the service you get at poorly run institutions. Don’t go here folks, just stay away!

I like PetSmart in general, not just this store, it's a fun place to shop, though some of the items are pricey. Today, I needed a high calorie nutritional supplement for cats and a can of KMR (kitten milk replacer), and they had both in stock, plus some of my cats' other favorites (Churu, Merrick brand duck). I think the KMR (if I'm remembering correctly) is half the price ($6.99) of my local Petco ($13).👍
