“Before joining Shoofly, I was skeptical of Crossfit and downright nervous because of all the negative things I’ve read. Being a large man, I didn’t think I could do it, but I wanted to challenge myself and I’m glad I did. During my search for a suitable “box”, I narrowed my search down to 3 and followed all of them on social media for at least a year. Shoofly – in my opinion – had the most knowledgeable staff, friendliest atmosphere, best facility, and offered a good mix athletes of differing fitness levels. The staff ensures you are lifting properly and other participants will push/encourage you to finish strong. As of now, I have been a member for 1 year (foundation class started February 2022) and I’ve attended exactly 124 classes including today’s class. In conjunction with a plan created by my primary care physician, we established a 4-phase approach to creating a better lifestyle: Phase 1: Creating a baseline and using it to compare what suggestions work and what does not work. Phase 2: Implementation of small life changes – we agreed that most people fail because they try to change too much suddenly. Primary focus: making exercise a more foundational and consistent part of life. Phase 3: Changes to diet and meeting with a nutritionist to create a plan that works for me. Phase 4: Sustainability. When I began Crossfit in 2022, it was the start of Phase 2. Without any major changes to my diet, I lost 30 lbs. (gained 10 over Thanksgiving/Christmas ☹), increased my strength (I can now rep my former max in multiple lifts), increased my mobility, gained muscle, and (most importantly) improved my self-image. Not only those, but my physician also stated my A1C dropped by 50%, we are in the process of weening me off blood pressure meds, and my kidney function has significantly improved. Again, all of this WITHOUT significant changes to my diet. Now, in 2023, I’m beginning Phase 3 and will provide another update in 1 year. If you come to a 6:30am class and you see a big, sweaty puddle with a large man lying in it – that’s me. Love this place.”

One of the coaches is an artist and they can’t wait to show me the super hero sketches when they get home, my oldest designed her own and coach Batman drew it ? Then there’s the coaches that braid the girls hair, they get so much attention and come home happy, tired from play, and hungry!!”

“I was never consistent or enthusiastic about exercising until we moved to Fuquay, and I joined Jazzercise. The owner, instructors, and other members make it a fun and welcoming place with their enthusiasm, smiles, and laughter. Dancing to music together with the teacher's cues holds my interest and exercises my brain and body in noticing the patterns to follow along. Now I actually look forward to going, and I make it part of my weekly schedule!”

“This Place is amazing came and got a day pass and the staff is so nice and amazing and will answer any questions you have. This place is always clean. The bathrooms are really nice and clean and they have the best equipment. They offer personal training which is amazing. This gym is perfect i will certainly be coming back and getting a full time membership.”

“Been coming here for the past 6 months, awesome gym. It's always super clean (and the cleaning staff is extremely kind!). The front desk staff is awesome, supportive, friendly, and always willing to suggest supplements or anything else. There are plenty of machines to choose from, and it's always a great temperature inside! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a gym!”

“This is my home location and overall it's a good location compared to others across the country that I've been to. The equipment and gym is always clean and the staff are friendly. Also the locker rooms are a decent size and the showers are nice with their glass doors. The bathrooms are typically clean so no complaints there.The only thing worth noting is other locations have the round foam rollers which would be nice if this location could get some. Also while the equipment works most of the time some of their machines are showing their age and occasionally are broken. Not worth taking a star off for the machines though because they fix them pretty fast. I would still highly recommend this location.”
