Everyone who works there has been kind and mannerly every time I’ve been there. They all have been welcoming and answered every question I have asked and I have heard asked by others. It is very frustrating to read other reviews about this salon that are less than 5star because over the years, I’ve come here I have never seen bad treatment of clients or been treated badly myself. Always consider that there is another side to the story when a review is from a complainer. Connie has always done a great job for me and has never let me down.

BEST PLACE EVER .... This negative review couldn't be further off as Jay Andrews welcomes EVERYONE and treats them like FAMILY. I have been coming here since they opened in 2006 and have referred people here and we have never experienced anything negative. Perhaps before you put something this negative in writing, you should try and contact them versus spreading falsehoods.

I have been coming here for years now and I love the whole atmosphere. Maria does my hair and she does a wonderful job aside from being a great person. Everyone here is very friendly and welcoming. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

This salon, the owner and stylists are the best! Beyond kind! Their services are of highest quality. The personal and caring touch is beyond words. I am very grateful for their service and dedication to the community. I have felt cared for by friends for over 15 years and I look forward to many more. Thank you so very much. Just left another great experience at Jay Andrews! I’ve been a client for 16 years and have witnessed many Aveda school trainees train and then become successful stylists. I have had stubborn grays for 33 years and my stylist knows how to color my roots without and long term damage because I’m an ‘every 4 week’ client. I feel fortunate to have a great salon so close to home with stylists that make me feel like I’m home!

The worst experience in any hair salon ever absolutely disappointed and most importantly the disrespectful behavior directed at me because I am not a certain demographic they like was the most hurtful.
I don’t want to name the employee but super rude to begin with I should have walked away the first five minutes but I was there and decided to get my hair done anyways but then untrained and unqualified person forgets to put the protective cream and colors on my skin my forehead ears neck everywhere and then has no clue what to do when the color on the skin does not come off disfiguring my face and pretty much say I am on my own now .. if you are researching this place RUN RUN far away so you don’t become the next person they disfigure insult and then don’t even as much as apologize while they shamelessly take your money

Well I just lost 35 - 40 minutes of my life and will never get back. I called to verify they give perms. To be specific, a partial perm. When I asked aprox fee for only one row on the crown, the lady says it’s $150. I state that the website says $100+ listed for perms. So they’re starting price for a FULL perm is $50 higher than what they list on their own site. Ok.. change your stupid website to match the truth. Whatever. I then remind her I’m not getting a full perm—only a row on the crown. I’ve been doing (partial) in between full perms for over 4 decades. It’s customary to charge by the rod or a reduced rate. Been to MANY different places and across different state lines and that is customary. Ok… If you do it differently, that’s your prerogative. HOWEVER, the lady then says, well we can’t give an estimate over the phone, you must come in for a consult with an actual stylist so they can look at my hair. Ok… whatever. Then I ask can I schedule the “consult” as the same day as the perm to save drive time. She says no. So I drive the 15 minutes one way and she has me sit in the waiting room and 5 minutes later a stylist comes over with her. The receptionist does the talking—the stylist never said one word. Did not take my hair clip off to even see how long it is or it’s condition. It’s in a banana clip the whole time. The receptionist says it’s going to be $150 because once they open the bottle, it’s full price. Didn’t you literally just tell me to come in so they could see the hair to give a good estimate? So I question her why is it the same when your labor cost has gone down by roughly a ½ to ¾ when giving a partial perm? That was not a rude question and certainly is relevant. I’ve been told by my past hairstylists that cost is tied up mostly in labor which makes sense (it’s not the solutions, except if you need two bottles, which I sometimes need on a full perm ok, that extra charge is warranted). Literally, I have been doing this for years. She keeps bringing up the fee due to the bottle. I was asking about labor. Bottom line, I probably wouldn’t have taken time to write the review if she would’ve told me on the initial phone call that was the price no matter what because obviously, they didn’t need to actually see it in person to give me an estimate-or they would’ve looked. This whole conversation was less than 1 minute. More like 30 seconds. If they would’ve actually looked at my hair, it might not have made me so mad, even if I didn’t agree with the logic. But no one looked at my hair that was all wrapped up in a banana clip. They handled this poorly. They deserved this review.

Maria nails the highlights for me every time. She is a highlight magician! Recently my redhead daughter decided to get some blonde highlights. I was skeptical of how it would look ….. I give it a 10+/10! It is beautiful.

Erica is the sweetest most amazing hair stylist. She is so welcoming, does an awesome job, asks questions gets to know your style and every experience with her is so calming..bonus, she is so fun to chat with too! Highly recommend her!

I have been going to Jay Andrews for a little over a year now. My hair was not in the best shape when I arrived at the salon and Erica has totally transformed my hair. I would highly recommend seeing her.. she’s amazing and very knowledgeable for your hair needs. The salon is very professional and friendly as well. I highly recommend Jay Andrews!

After several hair appointments with this salon, for one of them I was late due to a very unexpected and stressful personal situation. I received a phone call that I was late. I was right down the road and said I could get there in 2-3 minutes. The salon did not care that I could get there, they were only interested in charging me full price as a penalty for being 10 minutes late and did not care about me as a person or customer. Doctor offices don't charge that much for being late and try to work you in when an unfortunate and unexpected situation arises. Not the case with this salon. It appears high late fees is is a good source of revenue for them.

I love coming here, all of the staff are very kind. Courtney and Victoria are my girls, they always give me the best cuts! If you’re looking for a great haircut I recommend either of them, they are excellent. I plan to keep coming here as long as I’m living in Raleigh!

Maria just cut my daughter's bangs to rescue her from a self-inflicted hair incident. She was really kind and sensitive--and didn't even charge us for the cut. We will definitely be back.
Erica is my regular stylist and she's wonderful too. She listens and makes helpful suggestions when I'm not sure what I want. She's easy to talk to but is also chill when I feel like being quiet.
