I chose Judd Builders to do much needed repairs and upgrades to my commercial warehouse property. Their project manager, Jerry Banks, was excellent to work with. He communicated promptly and professionally with me along every step of the way. The work was done to my complete satisfaction, with no hassles and no delays. I highly recommend this firm!

After viewing several beautiful homes on Judd Builders website, I sent an email to John Jr. requesting help/guidance about metal roofing. To my surprise, he responded the very next day with the details of the specific roof I was inquiring about as well as a glowing recommendation for the subcontractor (and his contact information) that they used on the project. To say the least, I'm very impressed! A class act!!

We are newly retired Atlanta healthcare professionals who relocated to Laurel Park NC in December of 2020 after having Judd Builders construct our new custom home. We are now at the 3 year post construction mark and we could not be more pleased with the quality / durability of the construction. We are confident that with each project they agree to undertake, they will deliver the lasting value that you are seeking. The Judd process is one built primarily on integrity, leadership experience, and collaboration. We worked extensively with both an architect and a structural engineer prior to selecting Judd Builders. After selecting Judd Builders, we were confident we had the best in class construction team for our project. Judd Builders lead this team with stellar professionalism throughout the 12 month build process. We now have been fortunate to have had a 4 year business and personal relationship with Judd Builders. We count them as family as I am sure they do the same. Our door remains open as they purposely maintain lifelong relationships. If you are so fortunate as to have them support you in your project, they will return so much more than expected...hats off to a great building experience they deliver consistently.

We have remodeled our home twice over the last 6 years. I know the difference between a positive experience, and one that isn’t so great. Judd did our 2nd remodel, and I can’t say enough good things about their work, their commitment to seeing things through, and most impressive of all, the accessibility that has been granted even post remodel. They still make themselves available if there’s ever an issue. John and his team are our go-to folks for just about everything! I so appreciate Judd Builders and all of the teams and entities they partner with to do good work. We recommend this business anytime someone is searching for a builder.

I read these happy reviews, my experience with Judd was just the opposite. No cost controls, poor quality tile sub, and now a major water problem 2 years later caused by his carpenters driving deck screws and 4”x1/4” lag screws through the brand new rubber membrane roof they had just installed. The damage was hidden for two years but water always wins. Judd took a look at it and walked away claiming zero responsibility. I live in Biltmore Forest, this was a major remodel done to our 1925 brick colonial.Services: General construction

We recently had the privilege of building our custom home with Judd builder. The quality of our new home is incredible and aligns with the knowledge, attention to detail, and customer service this crew brings. From site and plan design to framing to final selection there was always constant consult and communication that made our build the best yet. For a fine, no regrets home from a builder who cares look no further. They have become family!Services: General construction

My husband and I worked with Judd Builders for over a year on a custom home for our retirement. Ultimately, rising costs and economic volatility kept us from being able to proceed with the build. However, working with the Judd team was a very positive experience. Our year-long association with them made us certain of the following things. They are builders with integrity, long experience, and solid reputation. They are responsive – every member of their team returns calls and emails in a timely fashion – and they are generous with their time and expertise. Their process is highly transparent, thorough, and uncompromising on quality. Plus, they are just really nice people.Service: Custom home design

The minute I met John Sr., I knew that he was not only a man of good heart, deep spirituality and high ethical values, but also he was straight shooter. The entire team is extremely thorough in what they do and will tell you what you need to hear and not what you want to hear. Even though I finally decided not to build my dream custom home due to the unprecedented uncertainties in the home construction market, I have the highest respect for their process, their attitude and their values. If I ever get to build my home, there's no doubt I will go right back to them. And you should too if you are considering building your dream home.

I am in the process of acquiring property in the Asheville area and Judd Builders was recommended by our real estate agent. John Judd Sr. took my call the same day of my inquiry and was professional, pleasant, and a straight shooter. Even though we do not yet have a business relationship, he spent almost an hour providing guidance and counsel as to the market, construction challenges, and suggestions for the build we are considering. That pre-sale time investment with obvious experience to ensure a quality outcome certainly is appreciated and welcome for a prospective customer.Services: Consultation

I agreed to let Judd finish the job if communication would improve. Upon agreeing to let Judd finish the job nothing has changed. Transparency is worse. Very little communication for the last month and a half. Every week aside with one or two exceptions. Workers have only been out Tuesday-Thursday. I made this clear in text messages that no one had shown up. I also said that I needed the water turned back on over a month ago to complete work I was having done on the pool. Not until I called my own plumber a week ago had the water been turned back on. It has been 4 and half months and no end in sight. NOT ONE LIVABLE BATHROOM. I had to pay my own builder to complete a bathroom so we could finally come back home. There are a lot of small issues like doors going in backwards and no tile in the closet bathroom. It seems every step of the way the job does not progress unless we are pushing over and over. When is the cabinet installed? When is plumbing? When do we pick out lights? How about glass, where is it going?
We had to order our lights and plates and mirrors even though we brought this up countless times with the building manager. And it was always put off. Until we finally text some pictures of things we liked from wayfair. We had always planned on having LED mirrors for example but it was alway put off as unimportant. When the tile was put up on the walls there was no wiring for the mirrors or chandeliers. Then I got a text about a week ago saying I have to go pick out countertops??? I already picked them out the same day and the place I picked out the cabinets, lucky I took pictures of all the items we chose.
We had a meeting last monday to go over completion. I chose to have my own plumber and electrician come out to do the work. after being told Judd plumber would be out on days and never showed up. I said Judd can finish countertops, glass, drywall, touch up paint. During the meeting I showed the manager that the grout had not been completed on the wall so cabinits could not go up. I asked if anyone was coming today. I was told no, then cabinet people showed up later that day. I mentioned this to Tile and Manger, they asked if it was ok if the grout would not be complete behind the cabinets. Obviously that is not very professional and cabinets had to come out the next day to be fixed.
Today I received a text saying that someone was coming out to measure countertops in 30 min. When the man came, he had no idea anything about the job. How many bathrooms, type of sinks, shape, overhang. We had to give him print out of materials and plans to help and go over every bathroom. We told him, I think this should be the manager's job. He told us he asked twice if the manager would come out to meet with him and he refused.
I'm not a complete fool. I know how much things should cost and I am capable of calling vendors myself to figure out my upcharge on everything from Labor to Waste Removal to Toilet Rental. It was ok to pay extra for quality and to have a pretty hands off approach from what I am used to.
I HAVE PICTURES OF EVERYSINGLE TEXT MESSAGE AND EMAIL. IT DOES NOT LOOK GOOD. I ALSO HAVE PICTURES OF UNEVEN TILE AND MISSING GROUT. I EVEN LEFT SOME THINGS OUT OF THIS REVIEW BECAUSE IT SIMPLY WON'T FIT.
When emailing this directly to DEBBIE JUDD she responded with... "I am sorry you feel that way." in an email. No joke. Still no offer to replace my playstation or piggy bank. No apology. Every Vendor I have spoken to about their experience with Judd has had only negative things to say. That they have high demands and always pay them late. I'm sure Judd was once the premier builder of Asheville. Trust me manage the job yourself if you hire Judd you'll be stuck doing it yourself anyway.

(1)When we had our first meeting I was promised professionalism. I was told that Judd was the premier builder of Asheville. I was told that I could trust Judd because they always meet their deadlines, that they had such a large crew that you would have no problem getting the job done. I was told a beautiful story about how the job would not start until all drawings and models were approved for every bit of the job. I was told that I would be sent emails and videos and would have facetime meetings. I was told that Judd always uses the same vendors so they don't have to question quality or trust worthiness. I was told that If I moved out of my house the job could get done much faster.
Hollywood writers could not write a worse experience than the one I have had with Judd builders. I had to confirm three different start dates on my own and the job only started when I finally said I boarded my dogs and booked a hotel. I was never given a completion date. No one ever showed up with us to pick tile, cabinets, countertops, fixtures, and not to mention lighting was never discussed.
All I received was one draft of drawings for the bathrooms and when I asked for some changes I got an "OK" and no new drawings. We had a meeting before the start date to go over everything again. We said that we would cover all of our furniture before we left. We were told that wouldn't be necessary and everything would be covered up. We said we would be gone for a month and half and asked if that would be enough time. I was also told that ALL MATERIALS were ordered for the job so we should not have to wait on anything. We were assured it was doable.
While we were gone we got one email. All it said was MONDAY-FRIDAY DEMOLITION. No pictures, no updates, no phone calls, no facetime. We sent a text message saying that we were going to extend another week and that we were going to be coming back to our home with our dogs in one week. Only received a message back that everything was going fine.
When we got home the house was still in demolition. Absolutely nothing was covered. Dust covered everything. Deep into the furniture covered a closet full of clothes, photographs, antique board games etc. The Heat was set to 75 although we left the house on 65 on two thermostats and doors left open in the middle of winter. One of my units went out, the repair man said it was shut off due to over working. We still were not completely upset. We figured these things happen, that projects always take longer than expected. Upon being home though. We realised after two more weeks most of the days no one came out to work on anything. Yet we are still getting emails Monday-Friday Tile. We also noticed Items in the living room were stolen. A Playstation and an antique piggy bank filled with half dollars. I also noticed the most important part of the job had been missed. The entry doors must be widened enough to allow for wheelchair access. Upon bringing this up it was as if we requested this for the first time.
By the third Monday came around and no one showed up we decided to fire Judd builders and move on with someone else. We had no where to board our dogs and no completion date in site.
The payment schedule I received beginning of the job: "Mr. Kulakov,
We wanted to notify you that we can start your upcoming project on October 26th. For this start date we would need 40% of the agreed upon budget upfront, so we can get materials ordered. After this payment we would request another 40% at completion of countertops, and then the remaining 20% at completion and satisfaction of the work performed. Once this is approved we will get things ordered and put together a complete schedule for you."
Instead I have been charged 40% to start and 30% so far. NO COUNTERTOPS HAVE BEEN DONE.

Jerry, John and their crew did a fantastic job on our new porch. The finished product blends seamlessly into our existing home and provides us with all the things we wanted. They were able to finish the project in time with ease despite the fact we changed the goals once or twice. We would use them again and again for all our home projects! Their professionalism and the care they took with the entire process was awesome.
