My cats are comfortable with the vet and staff here. The staff are always so kind, helpful, & shower my cats with compliments. I’ve been a customer since 2020. I’ve moved to the other side of Asheville but this is still the best vet in the area so the 20 minute drive is worth it.

I was on Vacation in the Asheville area when I discovered red spots that looked maybe like ring worm on my 10lb Havanese girl dog's belly and leg. I called around and Animal Hospital East were very friendly and able to get her in the same day. The Doc examined her and explained that she probably just got bit by something because there were no... a lot of medical words... just give her some Benadryl and keep an eye on it. I paid for the doctor visit with no additional expensive veterinary medications. The Benadryl worked well. AND...I was shocked and so pleased when they called the next day to check up on her progress.Great Experience.

We took our dog in bc she had a tooth that needed removed. We’re sent home with ear medication. We returned a week later with her little face swollen (parents panicked) and obviously in pain under the guise they were going to remove the tooth and clean her wound. Turns out they sedated her just to drain the wound and reschedule another day to sedate her AGAIN and remove the tooth. Three visits to gain a solution. Ridiculous being they knew from visit one how to help her.

Always very kind staff and fast scheduling and almost never have to wait past my appointment time, even then it’s only by ten minutes at the most. I take all four of my cats there and have since I got them. They are also very good and caring with the animals under their care. Can’t recommend them enough!

While visiting from out of town our dog took a stick across his eye on a hike. We called ahead and were able to get right in. They did an eye exam and flushed it out and educated me on next steps. A great customer experience. Whole heartedly recommend!

The team at AHE know are fantastic. They blend kindness with wisdom and expert skill. They are compassionate, clear communicators, efficient, and focus on the animal's wellbeing while treating clients with respect. They welcomed me in when I called with an urgent situation, and they worked quickly to treat my very sick cat. Dr Kuhn, Amy, Vickie, and entire team: thank you for everything you do to help pets and their people!

What a positive experience I had at this hospital!I was from out of town and was visiting family during the holidays when my dog got VERY sick. The hospital allowed me to come in first thing in the morning, with no wait. Dr. Willson was phenomenal. Kind, thorough and took a lot of time with us. She followed up later in the day with us, at no additional cost, and then again the next day. The amount of concern was comforting and genuine. Every employee that worked was just as thoughtful.

My husband and I moved to Asheville in June with Wally, our beautiful, 14-year-old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. A few weeks earlier, Wally was diagnosed with lung cancer. We looked at several veterinary practices in Asheville and decided to make an appointment with Dr. Tom Kuhn at Animal Hospital South. It was a good choice. We will always be grateful to Dr. Kuhn for supporting us in our decision to not subject Wally to major surgery that would be unlikely to extend his life (at age14, he already had reached his life expectancy). Wally went home on powerful anti-inflammatory and pain medications to control his persistent cough and any pain he might have. He had another 6 months of full life. He went with us on hikes, swam, fetched, ran and enjoyed good sleep and healthy appetite. And we gave him treats at our every meal - something he was not allowed before. In the meantime, all we needed was just call the practice to extend Wally's prescriptions, adjust doses and pick up medications at either location. We saw Dr. Kuhn or Dr. Welsh for Wally's ongoing health needs, always receiving excellent advice, care and kind words of support. When the inevitable came, Dr. Tom Kuhn gave Wally his immediate attention. We said goodbye to our Friend at Animal Hospital East. We could not have asked for more support, kindness and compassion that everyone at the Clinic extended to us. The practice also took care of all the arrangements for cremation and delivery of ashes. We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to Doctors, veterinary Nurses and the most kind administrative Staff at both East and South practice locations. We highly recommend this practice, especially if you need expert and compassionate help with your pet's terminal condition.

Their very quick to diagnose, but is it the only thing I should accept. No I don't accept that my Bruno is dying... My Lord, who's the ultimate healer of all , he made every living and knows what Bruno needs. Wether it's for Bruno live or die , it's his decision , not none of us has the power to make that call. We aren't GOD... AN diagnosis can help draw a conclusion, but this is done from the knowledge learned , not of the heart. You know 2 and 2 is ALWAYS 4, but one person's opinion is not the end... In Jesus Christ name I profess that Bruno is going to be alright... We are not GOD , And he is the power greater than anything & I call on his healing power to cure Bruno. My X and I have dealt with you folks for many years , reason because you people are good. Her name is Arleen Masterson, you folks helped all 15 dogs and I thank you... In my heart , as bad as Bruno is I believe he's going to be alright. He's my heart and the only thing I have on this earth ?... I love him completely... Well he made it 8 days longer than the 3 you gave him doc. On his fifth day he's eating boiled chicken I stripped and hand feed him. Progress not perfection. But then for the next two days he would do nothing. I couldn't walk him to my dog park. He just couldn't he laid down on me a sign he was giving up and he started staying in the bathroom another sign he was giving up. He was mindful and attentive and would go to kitchen and use the bathroom, I've got a mop ya know. And then coming back to his bedroom and he crashed into the door. So for the next few days I carried him everywhere he needs to go carry a 70lbs dog around for days, I did whatever he needed. We were so I sync I could look at him and knew what he wanted. His last days were spent in bed , I hand feed him there and all. At about 3am while I was studying and there was the most horrific, screeching sound loudest I ever heard... And he has somehow made it to his Elephant spot to die I called Animal Control at around 4:30am those people did not show till 2:30pm that's ten hours he hung on . As they carried him out while I held the door open , I swear he winked at me . I'm crying so hard I can't type . I gotta go sorry folks. I think I'm going to Copestone I'm having a breakdown .

We adopted a Goldendoodle a few months ago and the previous owners had him at Animal Hospital East. He hadn’t had a yearly so I called and made an appointment. At the time of the appointment I asked if the lady could quote me a price, she did.Arriving at the office we were brought back into a room. The tech immediately took our dog to the back, she was not informative at all nor let us know what was going to be done, etc. We heard our dog yelp (a noise he had never made before) and then he was brought back to us. The vet then walks in very matter of fact and said well he has Lyme disease and was not very reassuring or informative about our next steps. Then when asked why our dog yelped as if he was dropped he denied hearing yelping. We were given a pamphlet about Lyme disease and was pretty much sent on our way. When checking out our bill was DOUBLE what we were quoted via phone. To BEAT IT ALL! We get home and our dog starts suffering neurological deficits. He can’t walk or hold his head up. This lasted 14 hours. When taken to another vet he looked at his records and was shocked our 24lb golden was given a YEARS worth of heart medicine (via injection) and a 3 month dosage for flea and tick. He said that was excessive and our dog should of never received such a large dose of either medication. At the end of the day I don’t feel as if Animal Hospital East genuinely puts their animals safety first. We will never be back nor recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a family friendly vet who has their animals best interest at heart.

Lovely vet office. They squeezed me in when I didn’t have an appointment and I thought that was very caring. Vets are very informative and personable. Definitely recommend this office and will be coming back!
