My history with this place goes back to 2011 when I did the 200 hr yoga teacher training then. At that point in time, I would have given it 5 stars. But based on my recent experiences, I did not feel the quality of the classes I attended was worth the price ($24 per drop-in).There are several stand-out instructors who have been here for more than a decade and they consistently lead high quality classes (Joe, Shala, Michael Johnson, Tucker, and I’m probably leaving out a few but those are the ones I am most familiar with). However, if I drop in a class randomly that fits my work schedule and can not prioritize which teacher I go to due to limited free time, I have been disappointed and even left in pain (thankfully my own experience as a yoga teacher has helped me know what modifications I need in some classes). For the biggest studio in Asheville, I would expect for all of the teachers to be high quality, unless it’s clear the teacher is in training and therefore it’s a less expensive class, such as the $10 drop ins.

Have practiced here a few times with decent class sizes, but today had the horrifying experience of attending a class with 41 people in it. Mats were 3-6” apart. The front desk person told me many classes are this size. At the prices this studio charges it seems crazy to have to feel your neighbors breath while practicing. Lessons of Covid forgotten? It’s a shame; the space is nice and classes have been good.

LOVE Jess Slowe’s Sunday Motown Funk and Soul Flow! She’s a fantastic teacher and the Motown music is super fun - such a wonderful way to spend a Sunday.

I’ve been going here regularly for over a month now and I’m so happy I moved right nearby! The staff and teachers are all wonderful and welcoming, helpful and truly knowledgeable. This is a studio offering a variety of teachers and classes; I recommend trying out a handful of teachers’ classes to find the ones appropriate for you. There are classes appropriate for all ages and levels. I absolutely love Jess Slowe’s ‘Motown Funk & Soul Flow’ class on Sundays. It’s a well-paced, solid practice where I feel grounded and lighter and also got a good workout ? Brooke Sullivan’s Wednesday evening class is also amazing.

I love AYC with the variety of classes and affordable prices. One criticism I have is from my last Friday class when the instructor went 45 minutes over the class time. It was way too long, especially for people who had planned to stop by a grocery store before it closed and who were commuting by bicycle. The instructor should respect the time limit of each class and end the class on time. I usually have a good experience at AYC, except last Friday evening's class, in which the instructor went too long and went off their teaching topic. In general, this place is a wonderful space for the community.

I was able to dabble into a few classes here during my time in Asheville and really appreciate the serenity I experienced. The yoga instructors are passionate, warm and enthusiastically engaging. The yoga rooms and washroom were always clean and peaceful. Great intro deal via Groupon! Namaste

The way the studio is run is disrespectful to poor people and caregivers who don't have extra time to sit around in a loud classroom to guarantee your spot in the class that you already paid for and registered for online. It takes too much away from any sincerity in the yoga. The staff cater to tourists and groupon customers, at the direct detriment to locals. This studio has a weird commitment to letting men put their mats down before signing in at the desk. Did these dudes register and pay? Weird business model.

Thank you, Richard, who led the intro to yoga session. Being a novice with yoga, I was anxious about the class, but he was welcoming and informative. The small class size was a help for corrections to form as well as conversations around what type of classes with which I should start. I highly recommend this intro class if you’ve ever been nervous about attending a yoga session.I am actually excited and less intimidated to try my two classes I registered for next week even though I know there is still a big learning curve for me!

The classes at AYC are good, but it’s not a very secure facility. My North Face jacket was stolen (perhaps by mistake?) during a yoga class, and the team at AYC hasn’t been helpful with trying to track it down. I am still going to classes there, but I’ve started leaving my belongings in the car, not storing anything in the open lockers and/or bringing my items into class with me.

I have been yog-ing for over 20 years now but It's been well over a year since I attended any type of class, last night I went in for flow and yin with Maive, it was very well executed and immensely therapeutic. I'm really glad I went in ,despite my reservations, I think I'll go back when time permits.

The yoga class I went to last week, which was with Suzanne on Thursday at 8:30, was great! It was the first class I have been to where the instructor really made an intention to allow each member of the class to move with their own breath. I dunno how it worked but it did and I felt connected with everyone even though I only knew one other person in the class. I would definitely go back but for the price and the lack of professionalism I experienced at the front desk. I purchased the 5 class pass for $45 back in December and specifically remember asking the person at the front desk if the pass expires, to which she said "no." Then I get to the studio in January for my second class and a new person is at the desk telling me my pass is expired, which was pretty upsetting. It would be great if you all at the front would all be on the same page. My friend who I was with generously paid the $18 walk-in class fee for me. After the class, when I was getting my things together, the front desk person called me over to her and explained that my pass expired a few days prior and that the software isn't allowing her to budge on extending the pass, but she wants to help. She said she'll call or email me later that day. It has now been five days and haven't heard from anyone. I just can't really say that I want to go back after this. It really is a shame since the class I went to was so good.

While visiting Asheville I was able to attend classes here 3 of the 4 mornings. I highly recommend starting your day off here!! The teachers were really knowledgeable and I learned something new in each class! I practiced with Luna ray, Gota and Rosie. All three of these instructors were really welcoming and had a unique style! I wish I could bring this place home with me! Thank you AYC!

I love the teachers at Asheville Yoga Center. There are so many different modalities for every level being offered. The receptionist are super friendly and the atmosphere is harmonious. Rooms are large, airy and always high vibes!

I popped in to 5 classes while visiting Asheville. Each one was a different teacher and each one was excellent. The studio is clean, warm and inviting. The instructors are knowledgeable, kind and inclusive. What a treat! All manner of props in abundance and quite reasonably priced as I purchased the new student special 5 for $45. For what it’s worth, I too am a yoga instructor and very regularly practicing yogi (7 days a week) whenever I am out of town, I ALWAYS find local yoga and keep my practice up and Asheville yoga center really pleased and impressed. I would highly recommend this studio to everyone.
