If possible this rating would be zero stars. We went to pick up our reserved truck from this location. Upon pickup the truck had no gas. The woman assisting us informed us that she suspected a gas thief and told us to fill the truck up, that we would be reimbursed once we dropped the truck back off. She did not check the truck. When we went to put gas in the truck the gas leaked everywhere and all over my husband because of a cut pipe. We went back we were told to inspect the rest of the trucks ourselves to find one that we could take. We returned and the women informed us the new truck we picked had a dead battery and we could not use that one. The rest of the trucks were filled with trash and had cut gas pipes. When we told the woman about this she was rude, dismissive, unhelpful, unconcerned, & uninformed about our refund and helping us land another truck. We were also told that we did not need to show the license of my husband and that he could drive as well because we were married when we asked about adding a driver. Curious how the insurance we paid for could cover us if they didn’t have both drivers license on file. We were informed of one option of insurance when there are several. This location is negligent and should simply be closed. Budget gravely needs to invest in training for the woman working there.The worst experience I have had with any business of any sort. Absolutely 100% go to the Candler location.

Picked up a car in another state (they were very helpful) but had difficulty finding the drop off location in AVL. Tried calling and got someone unfamiliar with AVL and just kept telling me the mall ... would have helped tremendously if they knew which entrance. (It's by McAlister's Deli fir anyone reading this.) would still do it again as renting and driving saved us $200-300 over flying. Oh, and they don't open until 8:30...

Budget failed to provide the trucks reserved on three different occasions, including one where the company representative contacted me and promised that the truck would be available because we were renting a month in advance. The agency where we tried to pick up the trucks was a one-person business, pushing trucks out within 15 minutes of their arrival. No attempt was made to check the truck for safety or maintenance. When we called customer service we were told that reserved trucks were not available "all the time." Then--after failing to provide the trucks three times--they put fraudulent no-show charges on my credit card. This is NOT a reputable business.

EDIT 2022 DOWN BELOW !!!!I picked up my 16ft truck, took it back to the house, filled it with the furniture. I went to leave for CLT the next morning, and the windshield wipers don’t work. I had to turn the key a certain way so they would work but, they wouldn’t turn off. I was about an 1.5hr from Asheville, made it to Shelby. I’m sitting at a red light, and the truck turns off and won’t start back up. Not only did it do this once, but twice. I went to drop off my truck this morning, and I was thirty minutes late because the truck wouldn’t start. I pulled into the budget gas station to drop it off. The lady inside kindly asked me to move it behind the gas station, I went to move it, and it wouldn’t shift out of gear.I was able to get %25 off my rental from the lady at the front desk. I’m calling the 1800 number and the better business bureau to get a full refund. (Edit soon)Edit !!!!!After having taken my case to the Better business bureau, they told me that the trucks “do that all the time”. Therefore, they could only give 30% back. I highly do not recommend these trucks. The incident I went through could have killed me, or someone else. This was overall a ”you pay what you get for” situation.

The good/great - I rented a cheap truck to move items that I wouldn't been able to move otherwise. What more do I want for $100?!Yes it is confusing to go into the mall for car rental services when it isn't clearly stated. Yes the lot to the trucks is hidden out behind the mall. No they are not abundantly staff. Yes the staff can be curt.All I can say is 2022 doesn't look to be shaping up to provide any more willing labor than 2021. Good luck to all those unsatisfied customers who don't want to pay more for a truck, but want a truck and to get pampered at the same time.

The staff was very unprofessional they did not have the car that I wanted when I made the reservation three weeks prior. No apologies were made. The car that I received had not been cleaned and I did not receive any discount for cleaning at myself and returning it cleaner than it was when I got it. I will not recommend this company to anyone.

This is one of those "if zero stars was an option I would rate them zero stars" type of reviews. Here is what I submitted to Budget customer service (who will probably never read it, but that's okay): This is not a question but a complaint from a VERY disgruntled customer. I reserved two, twelve-passenger vans approximately six months in advance of our wedding date to use to help us transport members of our wedding party to and from different locations throughout the weekend. I received confirmation numbers and we were good to go - didn't hear a peep for six months. Then, on the day we were supposed to pick up the vans, THREE HOURS BEFORE PICKUP, we received a call saying that there were no vans onsite and we would have no transportation provided. I understand there's a shortage due to COVID but this was inexcusable. Someone working at this location had to have known WELL IN ADVANCE that there wouldn't be vans for us to use and could have let us know ahead of time that we might run into an issue instead of waiting HOURS before we were to pick them up. We were left with ZERO transportation for our entire wedding party throughout the weekend and were given no compensation, no alternative options, and no help. Just left out to dry. So, I will be posting the worst possible reviews anywhere and everywhere I can find online, and will be letting my friends and family (who aren't already aware of this fiasco) know to NEVER use Budget Rental for any reason. This is some of the most atrocious "customer service" I've ever experienced.

My husband and I arrived early and stood in line with our infant son for over 30 minutes just to be told that all moving trucks were "out of service" and they had nothing for us. Attendant was rude, impersonal, and didn't give us paperwork or anything. She just shrugged at us and claimed she tried to call while I had no messages or missed call notifications on my phone. When I asked for the option of going to another local Budget location, she acted like I was the problem instead of her nasty attitude. Now I have a $75.00 no show fee on my account.I'm calling the BBB tomorrow.Thanks to the guy below me for reminding me of this option.I am beyond angry.Clearly this is a recurring issue.Save yourself the headache and go half a mile down the road to the Swannanoa U-Haul.They're inexpensive and have much higher quality service.

So the office is located just INSIDE the mall; across from McAlister's Deli. Look for the McAlister's sign for the entrance. They close at 6pm and do not offer after hours drop-off so be aware how that will affect your rental return.The lady that helped me was nice and the rental process straightforward. Would have been 5 stars but there's no direction on how to find the place. a sign outside the mall entrance would have been nice.

First off, the customer service counter is inside the Asheville Mall. Thanks Budget for letting us know on your website (they actually don't). Secondly, not only was the woman working the counter rude to me but was also rude to the person in front of me. She would never get through the interview process if applying for a job at my business. She has NO business working customer service!

I have been renting from budget regularly and conveniently through the app for about 3 years. We rent about 2-4 times a year for family trips. This trip I rented a vehicle through the app for 4 days instead of 3 because I can't return it on a Sunday. Upon arrival at our noon appointment I was asked for yet another credit card. Well all I brought was the card I initially paid with. And mind you the almost 500 dollars had been taken out upon rental 2 weeks Ago. Well I had to get my friend to bring her card but she needed a 250 dollar balance and was shy 100 on it. She called the bank and asked the rep if they would do a forced authorization and budget rep said no to that to. The bank was willing to add the funds immediately but they wouldn't talk to them to do the authorization so the only option was funds to be available the following day and they could run the card then. They said no. They said we have new rules now. Well none of this mess was informed to me in the app when I rented. So I asked if my friend could rent the car instead so we could still make our trip. They said yes... but they wouldn't honor the same price. So instead of the 460 dollars I already paid for 4 days. She was forced to pay 750. 300 more dollars. To the same people for the same rental. I have never felt so ripped off in my life. To top it off... we get in the vehicle and it says it's very past due for an oil change. Crossing my fingers the engine doesn't blow up going over the mountain. I will never use budget again. I loved the easiness and convenience of the app. But the representatives inside the establishment are not helpful nor are they friendly. And in no way tried to accommodate me and my family. Oh by the way.... they can't refund the almost 500 dollars I paid 2 weeks ago for this either. I have to call some number and jump through now hoops to get money back for a product/ service they refused me. Apparently bc of a credit check. Doesn't matter that my visa debit has over 5000 on it though. They needed ANOTHER. I should have had to show ID and credit card used to pay for the rental and that should have been it. If policy has changed and I want informed at the time the money was taken from my account.... we should have received the same price. There was no reason to charge us almost 300 dollars more and my money be taken as well

Not only did they tell me the day of my move that they don't have my truck. They charged me for a no show and absolutely no one is picking up the phone. Disputing this bogus charge and taking them to the BBB.Had to completely scramble to find a vehicle to move my furniture. Horrible customer service front lady told me "we tried to call you but you didn't pick up so thats on you."Unbelievable.
