Anything you are looking for you can find at this store! It's two levels so there's plenty of souvenirs, outdoor activity clothing (hiking, fishing, skiing), books and food. They have an area in the back with choose your own candy and they have all the old school candies that we grew up with. Staff was very helpful. Slightly expensive but everything is excellent and name brand quality so you get what you pay for. They had so many options.

One of the things I love about Asheville is that most places are dog friendly - and Mast General is Jäger approved. Found this general store while exploring downtown. Ended up coming here 2 times during our stay. They have everything!!! Candy, winter wear, hiking gear, cologne, food, sunglasses---and so much more. They also have Asheville logo'd items if you're looking for those types of souvenirs. And freshly popped popcorn. We all found something to buy while here-both days! And customer service here was quality. Had great chats with employees, and they were all very helpful and friendly.

Like any proper tourist, I found myself gravitating in here as I walked by. It worked out well for a few reasons, the primary one being the fact that I was behind on holiday shopping and found some goodies here! Quick side story; my friend and I ride through Missouri on the Katy Trail, and off the trail are all these little historic towns and whatnot. One of them, Washington, MO is a river town that manufactured all the original corn cob pipes (Meerschaums). We visited this year, and it's quirky and whatever but I have no need for a corn cob pipe so we moved on about our lives. Flash forward a few months and we had a big snowstorm and I made a snowman for my kids, when all of a sudden I had a flash of regret that we didn't have an old corn cob pipe to throw in there. Mast General Store to the rescue! They had the exact one straight from Washington, MO, and I got it on my second chance. A perfect stocking stuffer. In addition, there's lots of outdoor gear, candies, games, and just fun stuff to look through. The staff was friendly and conversational too. Fun store and glad to have found it!

Love this place!!! Cute merchandise. But the best part is the friendly and helpful staff!! If I lived in Asheville this would be the place I tried first for anything I needed!! A very refreshing change from self checkout.

Such a fun store with great variety. Very high quality clothing, so not necessarily a place for deals but really good selection, and there's a good sale section! I could have spent all day in here Great spot for outdoor clothing, some supplies you may have forgotten if you're traveling, and all kind of fun gift ideas.

Great stop on my way to the airport this past week. Picked up some additional souvenirs, but could have spent hours in there. I didn't even get to go downstairs! One thing I'm very happy to have stumbled upon is the espresso caramels! Yum!

Always love shopping at this store...wide variety of clothes, shoes, household items and candy! I was recently there trying on winter hats and left my sunglasses. I called the store and the salesperson went on the search and found them! They are always helpful and friendly!

Such a nice place to find any souvenirs, postcards, etc. They have many outdoor gear, clothing and different things for everybody. There’s two levels at this store. Prices were reasonable.

wow. have no received this level of quality service in what seems like a lifetime. Ordered one small $8 laundry sign and everything from the customer service to the beautiful packaging and thank you card and closed we're so impressive I would use them again in a heartbeat, and WILL!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! It's a good thing it's not closer to me or I would be broke! They have everything under the sun, & then some! You need a couple hours to see the whole place, but I just take a section @ a time when I'm there! The penny candy in the back of the store is AWESOME! They have candy from way back when that is wonderful for bringing back memories & eating! Make sure you visit it when ur in Asheville, you won't regret it!

In town visiting, I purchased a nice hat. I was having a great experience until after I had checked out. A younger employee named Zane made a few rude/odd comments about my tattoos looking simple/unprofessional. It left me feeling awkward and it was unprofessional of the employee. He attempted to apologize but it was a little late for that to make much sense. One of the weirdest shopping experiences I have ever had, as it seemingly came out nowhere. It’s sad, because it’s a great store outside of that experience.

We have been to several of The Mast General Stores, and this one did not disappoint us. They have unique products and things that you can remember from your childhood. We never leave without a candy or souvenir and don't regret that at all.
