I am a plastic surgeon and have been medical director of my own office based surgical facility since 1998. I have learned a lot of the years about purchasing refurbished medical equipment. Anyone can purchase medical equipment from a hospital or other entity looking to get rid of some inventory. However, you as the consumer have no idea what the condition of the equipment is. That is why it is extremely important to know the company that will take possession of the equipment, assess it thoroughly, and essentially rebuild it from the ground up, making sure that it is truly as good as new. This is not a matter of "putting lipstick on a pig" -its not about the clean-up and paint job (which is important as well).I was recently in the market for an upgraded anesthesia machine. Fortunately, I had the guidance of my anesthesia machine technician in the selection of a model and a source to purchase the equipment. As a business owner, I did some comparison shopping. What I found after looking into three other companies that specialize in this area is the following: One of the reps I dealt with had no understanding of the equipment itself. Another company, which will remain un-named not only was overpriced, but tried to take advantage of me.Jeff Rhinehart at Metropolitan Medical is a straight shooter. He knows the equipment inside and out. His prices are more than fair compared to his competition. Everything he promised came true (and even some additional perks that were not even discussed). He stands by his product.The machine arrived on time. Packaging intact. Condition - if I did not know it wasn't brand new I would have been fooled. Pristine! As a biomedical engineer myself, I know technology having designed, built and tested a lot of it in my time. Someone who is this meticulous on the outside is going to be this meticulous on the inside. Of course, I did have my technician do a thorough check out to make sure all was working properly after the trip up north. No issues. And my anesthesiologist is very happy with the new unit.I recommend Metropolitan Medical without hesitation.
