Moog had something really special in Asheville, and Asheville in Moog. Now just another sellout company, with Taiwanese production… Think of your fellow musicians and check in on your values before supporting this new business model.

As a lover of old analog synthesizers I was in heaven at the Moog Music shop/factory. We stopped in to take the factory tour, but unfortunately they were "short of staff" that day, but we were warmly greeted by a nice gentleman by the name of Jim. Jim let us enjoy the various synths on display and gave us a very detailed history of Bob Moog's inventiveness and creations. He demonstrated the large modular synth that was a duplicate model the Moog built and sold to Keith Emerson of Emerson Lake and Palmer fame. Jim and his coworker were lamenting the fact that the modular was being shipped back to Gene Stopp's estate. Gene was Keith Emmerson's synth tech back in the day...interesting stuff! Also learned that Bob never patented anything; from the iconic "ladder filter" to the pitch and modulation wheels seen on nearly every keyboard synthesizer today. It was a fun discussion with Jim, and even my wife who is normally intimidated by musical instruments with lots of knobs and buttons enjoyed playing the synths on display! I own their FANTASTIC Sub37 and want more!!!! Thanks for the nice experience, Moog. I'm glad we could visit before the company production gets shipped off to China. I later learned about their layoffs and the plan to outsource production to Asia. Sad. Read more here:

Jim, our tour guide, knows so much about both Moog instruments and what goes into creating sounds and making music! We loved our time here, both in the store and watching the people making the instruments behind the scenes.

The factory tour was awesome! I'm glad we were able to stop by here during our stay in Asheville. The showroom is great too with lots of different synthesizers to explore. I could easily spend a whole day here!

Awesome store, awesome tour. Learned so much from Paul about the history of the synthesizer and the theramin, and it was really cool to see how they were made and to try playing them. Would highly recommend coming here and doing the tour if in Asheville!

We visited Moog today and took a tour. Fascinating history of electronic music and Bob Moog's role in pushing the technology forward. Paul demonstrated the important parts of the modular synth and the MiniMoog, then took us around the factory to show how the synths are made. He made the history come alive, discussing the ways Moog made the synth as expressive a musical instrument as a flute or sax. Plus we got to play with all the synths on the showroom floor! Highly recommend this FREE tour.

Great tour of the factory. Very informative about the history of the Moog theremin, Modular system, MiniMoog, etc. It’s been a desire of mine to own one for years now, so I bought a Subsequent 37.

One of my favorite places in Asheville. If you're into synthesizers, this place is a must visit location. The staff is super cool and knowledgeable, and they are down to help you out in any way they can. Even though the store is fairly small, it's well curated with some of the best synth gear available. A treat! Thanks y'all!

Made it into town just in time for the 3:30 tour, which ended up being a personal tour due to other guest cancellations. I really appreciated that Paul was still willing to do the tour just for me, felt like a VIP! I've been a longtime fan of music with synthesizers, but didn't know anything about them or the craft. Now I can say I do! It was very educational, and Paul did lots of demos and was patient with my questions. It was fun to see the factory. Maybe one day I will get a Moog and try to learn!

Great tour. Tour guide Z was very knowledgeable of the history and described week how Robert Moog went from making theremins to becoming arguably the most important person in synths.

Having been here back in 2022 as well, we were happy to be able to come back in 2023 and take the factory tour which had been suspended due to Covid. In its place they did do a presentation detailing Bob Moog's beginnings and discussing some of the first instruments, such as the theremin and modular synths. The store itself is fun to hang out in as well. They have numerous synthesizers, their own but also some other brands, and other things for you to try out. The kids all had a good time trying various things out, and my synth loving husband thoroughly enjoyed himself too.The factory tour is really neat. It's a bit like that show "How Do They Do That?" where you get to see how various things are built from the ground up. Fascinating for everyone, kids included, to see where some of the things that show up on store shelves come from. The tour starts out in the store with the presentation about Bob Moog as they did during the pandemic as well, and then moves through the factory where you can see various instruments being built at various stations. The tour gives a good overview and we enjoyed getting the peek in.

Wish I could give more than 5 stars. The tour was incredible, and all the employees are knowledgable on and passionate about the instruments in the store. In an era where companies outsource parts from the lowest bidder and automate as much assembly as possible, Moog goes the extra mile to procure their parts domestically and assemble each instrument by hand. The results are instruments put together with love and care. Love this company and their products.

Z gave us a very nice tour. The tour started in the showroom with a history of electronic music and the evolution of Moog instruments. Tour continued in the factory while folks were working.
