as a beginner lesson taker I love this place. It's not a super busy location so they've usually got time to discuss instruments, music, etc in addition to the slotted teaching time.Plus the staff is all friendly and the store is super clean. ?

We were looking for a bassoon for my 14 year old son. We had a pretty good idea of what model and company we wanted. I spoke to Jon at Music & Arts and though he did not have it in the store, he was able to get one from another Music & Art store within a week so my son could try it out and play it before purchasing it. My son tried it out and liked the instruments however there were few minor issues with the instrument which were of concern and Jon addressed those very quickly and efficiently. Long story short, we ended up purchasing the instrument. My son is ABSOLUTELY loving the instrument and so proud and happy to play it.Jon and his staff have been a pleasure to work with. Their knowledge and communications (either by phone or email) in a timely manner was a breath of fresh air. If Jon was not working that day, he had communicated with his staff what needed to be done so we didn't have to start "all over again" when we went back. I was dreading and was very nervous about purchasing an expensive piece of instrument but they made it very easy and seamless. Thank you again Jon and staff at Music & Arts (Asheville) for all your help from beginning to end. We will (and have been) recommending you to other and plan to come back for future needs. Thank you again for everything!

Not a pleasant experience for me or my child… We attempted to get drum lessons there, but after 2 cancellations, the 2nd one 26 minutes before the lesson, we ultimately gave up. Crushed child in hand we are looking elsewhere.

Stopped by Music & Arts to rent a 4/4 violin and purchase a starter book. It had been 12 years since I picked it up and for some reason was convinced I only had a 3/4 size. Long story short, I got home and realized I already had a 4/4 size! Two days later, I returned with my personal violin to purchase a new bow as well as a fresh set of strings and fret guide sticker (totaling about $100). I asked if there was a grace period for the rental, to which I was told no. I thought in the spirit of a good client experience they would perhaps be willing to give me store credit for the cost of the month-long rental.Realized I was overcharged for the fret guide and had to return the rental today, so I stopped in after work. I politely explained they'd overcharged me for the fret guide. Jon told me he was sorry and explained they hadn't had time to update all of their pricing. I asked if he would honor the price listed. He scoffed, took $2 out of his wallet, and threw it on the counter.I was planning to return to take lessons from Sarah (I believe that's her name). However, after my experience today coupled with the first two visits, I won't be giving them my business.I'd hoped perhaps COVID taught us to be kind, especially when someone has good intentions and appreciates your business. Music & Arts may have a market on Arts, but certainly seems to lack basic humanity.

Friendly, relaxed but professional and non pretentious space for people of all skill levels to come and either learn or explore about music and for those that already play, to get what they need to keep going such as repairs and equipment. Bought my 1st guitar from them. They are just awesome and can't stress enough how much better service they do vs the local guitar center. Don't hesitate, and stop by today.

They replaced a broken violin string for free with the string purchase and took the time to provide additional recommendations for maintenance and care of the instrument. Great service.
