I've worked with Gerald on multiple occasions. He is a very straightforward guy, does what he says, always follows thru, etc. which is great. So if someone made him mad, I can't imagine the lengths that they went to to get him there. But quite honestly, that's beside the point. The trims and moldings that his operation turns out are world class. There's a true reason that his clients include some of the areas most notable construction outfits. He doesn't have to sell his work to individuals like myself, heck I just picked up an order that was $95 for a few pieces I needed to finish up a project. The first order was only a few hundred bucks. I'm more than happy that he and his family run their business the way they do (no order too small, selling to individuals like me). I love working with them simply because it is so easy, and he's super patient with me (I'm no pro) so sometimes it takes a few trips for me to get all the info he needs and he's never been nothing but professional to me. This is truly a five star operation, with 5 star product, period. If your looking to step up your projects you'd do good to do business with Smokey Mtn.

Great place to get custom moldings. And, for historic restorations they have a huge selection of knives from the turn of the last century. Owner is pretty nice too.

Have been dealing with them for almost 20 years. They run all my trim, stair parts and sometimes flooring for my custom houses. Great group of folks and always good prices and great service. They are set up for large orders for mostly contractors so that may be why some negative comments about smaller orders. Keep up the good work Gerald and family!!

Everything leading up to picking up my order was great, Gerald was easy to work with, incredibly knowledgeable, and I thought the price was great. I ordered 130' of baseboard and shoe moulding, for $350.They called me to let me know the order was ready, and at 4pm I left work early to pick it up. I showed up at 4:30 to a locked door, no cars, and a sign on the front saying "open from 8am - 5pm". Obviously, I was a little put off by that, but what else to do but leave and go home. Hour wasted.I showed up this morning and told them what happened. I expected, at a minimum, some apologies, but really I think a few dollars off the order would've been appropriate. What I got was Gerald screaming at me, and telling me to get into my car while approaching me red faced angry. Here's the conversation (as I remember it – I understand that I'm biased) that triggered this response:Me: If it was up to me I would leave, but my wife says we need this order. I can't believe this mess.G: Well it's not my fault the sign is wrongMe: Well it's not MY fault!(btw, HOW is it not his fault - he's the owner!)At this point he grabbed a bundle of wood off the top of the car, said he wouldn't work with me, yelling and telling me to leave. Once I got in the car he slammed it shut and told me to get out. His words and body language made it clear he was as furious as you can get. I didn't stand there refusing to leave, I was ready to get out of there. His daughter shooed him away and made every attempt to remedy the situation – I did end up buying the wood (I did NOT want to, but I'm under a tight deadline, not much choice).Oh I forgot to mention that Gerald's wife was also a part of this – telling me "I'd better leave, he's upset" and when I said "An apology was all that was needed" she said "I'm not sorry!" – which I believe! So that was my experience. I hope yours is better – or that you shop somewhere else.

Smokey Mtn lumber produces many types of wooden components that are not available any where else. Usually can be ordered from any species that your project requires.

I brought a small order of lumber - around 1000 board feet to be sanded and shaped from baseboard and window trim. The owner told me it would be ready in two weeks. Three weeks later I had not heard from him. I had to go in his direction so I stopped by. He said they had been busy but promised it to me the next week. Two weeks went by. I made repeated calls for another two weeks with no calls back. Finally I got him on the phone and he laughed and told me that he had to take care of his big customers and that any small jobs would have to wait. He gave me no date and did not seem to care he had broken his promise. I hung told him we would come and pick it up and take it elsewhere. When we got there, the order was buried way in the back of their warehouse storage and all jumbled up so there is no way they could have done it correctly. It cost me $300 in pick up and delivery fees and 2 months later I am now able to get it done by someone else. I will never go back. All he had to do was tell me he wasn't going to be able to get to it, but he made me a promise and did not even care he could not keep it.
