Asheville small claims, district court, and superior court judges? Run like hell. "Suffer every wrong, every injury that can possibly be inflicted upon you, before approaching any of them." The courthouse should have this warning on the entry doors.

I’m giving a 2 star only because Roxanne did a terrific job helping me. HOWEVER,… when I called the next day to follow up, I was told she was on break, and to call back after 1. After I called back at 1:30, there was NO ANSWER from anyone in the branch. I decided to drive up to the bank. Only To be greeted by NOONE. An empty desk. After I located someone to help me, they tell me Roxanne was gone for the day, and someone else could help. 20 mins later I’m still sitting in an empty lobby with no one offering assistance …

SECU's fraud prevention and fraud dispute departments are violating federal law, withholding money from my account, taking months to investigate fraud when federal law requires them to take 10 days - and they are refusing to return phone calls or tell me what's going on with the investigation. Don't put money in their accounts, if it's taken by fraud you will never see it again.

A wonderful "bank" for all state employees and their families. Members literally own it. All profits from loans go to overhead and savings interests to owners. This system makes all members equal and eligible for the same low loan rates and generally higher savings rates like typical banks that have similar overhead issues along with financial obligations to stock owners...remember credit union members ARE the owners. Directors are volunteers and unload members. Branch offices and ATMs are all over the state and there is no fee to use the Cash Points machines. Checking accounts are charged $1.00 per month and all those single dollar charges are donated to charitable causes across the state. I urge all eligible citizens to visit a local branch office for details, join and take advantage of free membership in your own full service financial institution.

the worse bank to ever have a credit card with if your a disabled veteran or anyone that gets a check once a month. No one ever wants to work with you about getting things resolved. For the past 2 months according to them my payments have been late even tho it’s always paid on the first of every monthly depending on the month the Friday before or the Monday after and when I came in to speak to a branch manager I got turned away at the door because of the bread of my service dog.

They’re very nice people, but when it comes to doing simple tasks as completing orders for people - they fall short. Waited on a card for over two weeks just to find out they had never sent the order out, a long with the wrong address - which we had confirmed when i initially placed this order.

I'll go out of my way to visit this branch of SECU. Been a member for almost 20 years, and everyone is so incredibly friendly and helpful here.

I've been nothing but a huge fan of this place until I tried to get a used car loan through them. Their inconsistency and inability to communicate is alarming. I was told by three different loan officers three different procedures. They also admitted protocol differs between branches. Crazy unprofessional in my opinion. I called in a vin# and was told I was approved and to bring the title by the bank to get the check. They were aware it was a private seller and approved the VIN number and price. I drove 3.5hrs one way to meet the owner and get the car then go to a secu branch and get check signed over. After taking a day off work, renting a car and driving 3.5hrs one way I am then greeted with many stipulations not one of the three loan officers told me and was told that I was never even approved for the amount! The amount was I've brought up numerous times and they told me it was approved and instructed me on the next steps. Since then I have received a better loan at champion credit Union. I really hope that ncsecu can get this figured out. You're hurting the little guy, not helping. Very dissappointed with my experience. I'm sure you don't care because it's chump change for your bank but I have to let people know how bad my experience was.

Used the big banks for previous home purchases---yuck. Bought a new construction home using a Beverly Hanks realtor and secured a SECU mortgage. Our hardworking and honest Brock Law Firm closing attorney mentioned that SECU seems to work well with customers, and this was the case. Even though we ran into a multitude of problems in the purchase process of our new home, SECU kindly gave us many free loan extensions. Brock Law Firm understandingly worked out complex, and numerous unexpected problems and didn't charge us additional closing fees for some hard work. The only thing that I didn't like at SECU is that I was couldn't get a copy of the loan to review prior to the closing. I went to the bank in the late afternoon, the day before our morning purchase, and I was told that the loan wasn't ready for me to get a copy of yet. So, closing morning, I still hadn't read over the final loan paperwork, when I sat down with the real estate agent and attorney at closing. I found it unnecessarily stressful, reading over the whole loan, for the first time, with people waiting on me. Reading a loan is tough! Would have been so much nicer to review this on my own, the day before, with a delicious cup of tea and read slowly, taking a few notes for questions. The day after the final closing, the real estate agent contacted me, letting me know that she had forgotten to give us a bill at closing with the attorney. So, I returned to Asheville again to write another big check. I wonder---If I had read over the loan before closing, might I have realized that there was something missing OR would our agent have realized that she had a bill for us which was overlooked somewhere? Not sure exactly what happened. Overall, I like the SECU, which seems interested in encouraging financial security in customers.

They make banking feel human again, which is so refreshing in this crazy mixed up world where most banks treat people like a commodity.
